My dog Sadie is the largest lap dog you will ever meet. She loves to cuddle and get belly rubs. Soon after we got her though, she began loosing her hair, and not just shedding, but actually getting bald spots. She itched constantly and soon those bald spots because flaky patches of scabby, torn open skin. We tried giving her medicated oatmeal baths, and thought she might have fleas despite receiving regular flea and tick meds so we gave her flea dips too. She kept getting worse. I started feeding her carrots and barley with her food, as well as a quarter tab of claritin and a third of a tab of acidophilus and a half a tab of folic acid. All of this helped quite a bit, but was certaintly a hefty cocktail to make and still didn't work 100%. Then I got the 21st century Pet Nutrition Shed Less tabs (actually, I started with the 21st Century Healthy Skin and Coat tabs, but moved to the Shed Less tabs after Sadies skin healed because she was still shedding a lot). These have worked wonders for her, and at a very reasonable cost! I get the 90 tab bottle and feed Sadie 2 a day with her dinner. She loves the taste (liver flavored) and will do all sorts of tricks to get them if I feel like being entertained. They have begetable oils contain omega fatty acids, so some other options containing the omega fatty acids may work well too, but for the price and convenience of these I don't see a reason to switch.
