Don't worry about the Pound Plus Trader Joe's will add!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

To the PointMy husband and I are chocoholics. When we saw that Trader Joe's has a One Pound 72% Dark Chocolate bar for about $3.50 we bought it and have been buying these ever since. The name is Pound Plus.

A Closer View

"They" say that dark chocolate in moderation is good for us. Even so I like to avoid it because the sugar triggers my wanting more. In any case it seems that I can eat one square of Trader Joe's One Pound Dark Chocolate at night and be satisfied!

The bar actually weighs 17.6 ounces so you'll be getting more than a pound. I know this is hard to believe and looking at the package I now see that 3 squares are one serving but that one serving will give me 200 calories so I'll stick with 1 square.

The Taste

The chocolate is delicious. It is made in Belgium and too thick to bite. In fact it is so thick that in order to break it my husband has to pound it with his fist or I take a hammer. In my view it isn't meant to be eaten like a candy bar. The flavor and satisfaction truly comes out by letting it melt in my mouth. There is temptation when it gets soft enough to chew it but if you buy this try not to. It lasts quite awhile so it really makes a nice a treat.

It tastes a little like bitter chocolate - the kind that you would bake with. I imagine it's terrific in recipes.

The Analysis

Three squares have 16 grams of fat which is a lot even if it's sort of healthy fat. It isn't an avocado. You'll get 13 grams of sugar, 3 grams of fiber and 3 grams of protein. e: 38 grams 3 squares

The ingredients are cocoa mass, sugar, cocoa butter, soy lecithin and cocoa solids so there is nothing artificial in Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate Pound Plus Bar.
