I received this Tomtom GPS as a gift and it was my very first GPS unit. It is so easy to use and maneuver through that I recommend it to anyone. There was a time that I was without my TomTom and had to rely on my phones GPs.. Oh how spoiled I had become! This GPS is the best!

My wife purchased a Tom Tom XL 335 LM GPS Device for my Christmas present this year.  I drive around a lot with my new job.  I have a state and a national atlas and I sometimes find a free wireless connection to search online for a map with my laptop.  It is not always convenient for me to stop and can even be inconvenient due to the area that I am travelling through.  The Tom Tom XL 335 LM GPS Device has been a great asset.  I have been using it for all of my travel and the GPS has been great.  The Tom Tom XL 335 LM has tons of options for personalizing the unit to my choices.  I can add points on interest that I choose.  I have created several favorites that I use to navigate to repetative locations.  I can even set the start-up screen, shutdown screen, and car icon to have a more personal feel to them.  Another great feature is the fact that the Tom Tom XL 335 LM has lifetime map updates. Now I have noticed that addresses are not always exact and that some roads have not been listed on my device, but as this has only been one week of use I may find a way to remedy this situation.

The TomTom - XL 335S GPS is the best GPS I've ever owned, I have this and a Magellan Road mate and The TomTom by far out performs it in every way. It has 7 million preloaded POI's, Advance Lane Guidance, TomTom map share, and excellent PC interface, 1000's of downloadable voice's via connection to a PC with internet, and it easily mounts to your dash or windshield. It has a nice easy to see display the menu and touch screen user interface of the unit itself are laid out well and easy to use even while driving. The unit is well constructed and light weight but feels solid. It has and address book to save locations to easily return to them later. It is loaded with features like speed limits and it also tells you your speed, it is a truly remarkable product and TomTom in general make the best GPS units in my opinion. I have read some reviews that the TomTom's map was out of date and the best advice I can give is update this model via PC connection out of the box for the latest map update and firmware, TomTom offers a 30 day new map guarantee that you should take advantage of following purchase. If your unit is miss guiding you, its simply needs a update. Also the TomTom offers cheaper map updates after the initial free update than Magellan and has the ability to be updated by users with Map share free.

Do NOT buy this GPS. It's HORRIBLE. It doesn't recognize half of the roads you're on and says you're just driving through a field. It tells you to turn when there's nowhere to turn (like in the middle of a highway.) It will tell you to turn the opposite direction on a one way street. After you turn it on it takes a minimum of 5 minutes to even register where your location is. After driving for a bit, if you lower your GPS for some reason it loses ALL satellite connection!! It just completely loses where you are and you basically have to blindly drive, not knowing where the heck you're going for a good 3 or 4 minutes while it figures out where you're at. (3 to 4 minutes may not seem like a very long time but when you're going 60 miles an hour down a highway, passing a million exits that might be yours, it's a long time.) My friend has a Garmin GPS and it works very well.
