Sprout Organic baby food is yummy!

My local grocery store recently began carrying the Sprout Organic baby food in their store.    I was intrigued by the flavor combinations, such as Sweet Peas, Green Beans and Mint; Roasted Bananas and Rice; Peach Rice Pudding; Oatmeal with Apple & Cinnamon; and Summer Squash, Yukon Gold Potatoes and Parmesean, just to name a few.  I saw this product was created by Chef Tyler Florence, whom I enjoy watching on Food Network.  Best of all, the ingredients used are all organic, with no preservatives or added flavors, and they do not contain many common allergens for children (nuts, shellfish, milk, gluten, etc.). My son loves this food!  I enjoy feeding it to him, because the food smells great, unlike some of the jarred foods which can smell a little strange sometimes.  The packaging does make it a little difficult to get out every scraping of food, but it helps to fan out the bottom of the package and get rid of the crease.  The package design does make it easy to toss these in any bag to take on the go, and you don't have to worry about any glass jars breaking.  I really like this baby food!

Sprout organic baby food: Tasty, healthy and convenient.

I am a mom of a 7 month old baby who loves his food, and I am very careful about giving him only the best quality, healthy foods available. Most of the time I cook my own food for him, but when out and about, or when there's no time to cook, I prefer to give him Sprout baby food. The packaging is what first attracted me to this product. It is in a foil bag, unlike most other brands. This means that you heat it by standing the bag in hot water. The food is all organic, and the combinations of foods are creative and delicious (I always try a bite myself!). The roasted bananas flavor is interesting. Roasting the bananas brings out the natural sweetness of the fruit, so the taste is very sweet. The puree itself is quite thick and occassionally a bit 'clumpy', so you will need to stir it before serving. It is also an unusual color, a sort of greyish pink, I'm not sure why. The packaging itself can be messy, but to minimize mess I always squeeze it out of the bag into a bowl instead of serving directly from the packet. This way, you can be sure the temperature is correct before serving as well. I would recommend this product to other parents, as it is tasty, healthy, organic, free of contaminants and babies love it!

Sprout Food is great, the packaging - not so much.

Sprout Organic Baby Food is a great baby food, but the packaging is not so great. Sprout Food comes in a variety of flavors, most of them are some type of "roasted", such as Roasted Bananas or Roasted Apples or "Sweet" such as Sweet Peas or Sweet Baby Carrots. They are USDA Organic. The baby food is good, my son liked it. He is really getting out of eating baby food, but I picked up a few to use during the transition. I figure an alternative to using it as a baby food would be to let him use them as a dip for his "older" foods. I am not impressed with the packaging, although I thought I might be. It comes in a 3.5 oz. resealable pouch. I thought the pouch was different and unique, I didn't see to many foods come this way. But, it is hard to get all the food out of the pouch! I am used to the glass jars or plastic tubs from Gerber, Beech Nut, Nature's Own, etc. I like to get every last bit out, since I figure I am paying for it, why throw it out?  There are so many creased in the pouch for the food to get trapped. Plus, it is not easy to get it over the resealable top. (Which I don't really understand, it is only 3.5 oz. not a huge amount!) AND - the directions say "best if used in one feeding"! It is also a pain to heat up, since the directions say to heat by placing in a bowl of hot water until the desired temp is reached. I don't have that kind of time - especially when I have a hungry child! It warns "do not microwave" "do not boil". That is what happens when it is packed in a foil-lined pouch. I ended up dumping it into a bowl and microwaving it. So, overall, the food -- YUM                    the packaging - YUCK
