Sony - Cybershot S700 Digital Camera Review

I bought this camera (even though I have a digital SLR) after my Cannon decided to only work when it wanted to.  My dad had the next model up and WE LOVED it (it took all of the pictures when my son was born) so when a deal came around on Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving) - we decided to get it.

We purchased this camera for $99 at Best Buy (like I said, on Black Friday) - and we immediately started using it.  At first, I thought something was wrong with it because when we tried to play the movies back on the camera, there was NO sound (we were used to having sound playback).  After calling Best Buy we discovered that it was just the way the camera was made (talk about taking a tech step BACK!) and that in order for us to hear the sound, we had to load it on our computer (which worked). 

I do have to say that the video image is VERY sharp - but the sound isn't really to write home about.  It's very muffled and is crackly.  I guess you would say "Well, what would you expect from a cheap digital camera?" - but I think more of Sony.  Every Sony product I have EVER owned has lasted FOREVER - AND - I have always had nothing but good things to say about it.  To be honest, if I would have known that the sound quality was THIS bad on this camera - I probably wouldn't have bought it.

As for picture taking goes - it's a wonderful camera.  There are many features that you can use (including a snow feature that works GREAT and doesn't wash out your images!).  I will never buy another camera again unless it's a Sony (as far as REGULAR digital cameras are concerned).
