Right out of the (easy to open) box, the Philips needed little tweaking to achieve a nice picture.  The sound was fairly robust for a flat screen. The colors are bright and fairly accurate.  This LCD was made for sports and action movies with its 2 ms response time and the processing engine inside, although supposedly its big brother the 47pfl7704 handles processing quite a bit better.  SD is watchable, but HD looks so nice I find myself unwilling to change the channel to SD programs.  I have not watched blu-ray as of yet, so I cannot comment on that.  I have noticed with my Philips DVD player, the tvs remote thinks I am trying to operate the DVD player if I am not pointing directly at the bottom of the tv.  Overall I am pleased, but I have found a great deal on a plasma and so am returning this in favor of the plasma.

My college roommate had this tv when I moved in with him in his town house.  It is a great tv and offers a great picture.  It has a lot of different features like most newer tvs have but I like the way philips makes scrolling through the menu very simple and easy.  Another great feature is that it offers great standard speakers that sounds crisp and it really adds to the beautiful picture.  He has had this tv for awhile but the only thing I found trouble some is that the sensor for the remote on the tv is small.  If you have anything at all, even something small it will prevent the remote to transmit the signal to the tv for the commands.  Instead of that it is an amazing tv that is very dependable and worth the money if you found for a reasonable prize.  It is a step above an average LCD TV but it is not worth the better qualities that this tv offers if you dont get it for a comfortable price.
