What do you get for a friend (or preferably a spouse or roommate) that has everything? How about a subscription to a magazine that you will enjoy too!

That's what I did for my husbands birthday this year. I got him a couple of magazine subscriptions. He is a smart guy that loves random knowledge-- so why not feed that? I did. I gave him some magazines I don't have any interest in (like Mac Addicts for one) and some that I do have interest in: Mental Floss, for example. I had to create a balance. But I am definitely partial (actually love) the Mental Floss subscription.

Mental Floss is a fun read...

I picked up this magazine at the local bookstore because my regular magazine wasn't available.  I thoroughly enjoyed reading this magazine from cover to cover.  The articles are written with a sense of humor and not in the style of cramming information down you throat to show how smart the writers are.

This is definately one to subscribe to.  It comes out irregularly instead of a monthly issue, but I think it is worth waiting for.

Bottom Line -- Mental Floss is an interesting magazine filled with fascinating trivia and great articles. And while the topics can range from intellectual to historical, the writers find a way to stay factual without being boring. The articles are written very tongue-in-cheek, so they're simultaneously thought-provoking and fun to read.

Every issue starts out with a section of article bites called Scatterbrained. It's a collection of facts and anecdotes cleverly divided into categories within a uniting theme. For example, a recent issue had a section called "Food for Thought." Within it were...

This is a great buy for the holiday season.  It has something for everyone.  Well written, humorous and knowledgeable.  It is interesting and covers many topics so will be of interest to a wide range of folks.  I ordered this magazine last year, it has been a hit with multi generations in our family, great grand parents to the junior high gang, although perhaps for different reasons.

I have never had some much fun getting smarter. Mental Floss that can take topics that wold have put you to sleep in school and make you want to read them. It is one of the very few magazines if not the only one I read from cover to cover in one sitting! I love the interviews with dead people, very clever idea! I only wish this magazine came out every month, I find my self waiting impatiently for every new issue.

Everybody in my family enjoys this magazine despite the fact that we have diverse interests: I  love literature and trivia, my son is into science and history, and my husgand is into classical music and literature. We all find many things to enjoy in each issue. Best  of all, Mental Floss has a sense of humor about everything, including itself, so it is never stuffy or boring.

Mental Floss has been coming to my home for over 2 years, first as a gift (makes a great one!) and then a renewal. If you are a person who enjoys knowing a little or a lot about a lot of different things, this magazine will appeal to you. Along with all the knowledge is a entertaining writing style and fun layout. What I most enjoy seeing is the whole sections devoted to one topic, such as foreign countries. I know my knowledge about most places outside the U.S. is lacking, and it's wonderful to have a quick tour of other places. I also really enjoy the six degrees of Ken Jennings where someone... review »

Mental Floss is one of the best magazines I've ever had the pleasure of reading.

A fellow employee suggested it (being that I'm a useful and useless information junkie) and it was love at first sight! :)

The writing is wonderful the topics are humorous and informative!

Seriously - THIS is a magazine that will not only keep your brain alive but could help you when you want to know more than you kids! :)

This is the perfect gift for anyone into trivia.  The magazine is well written and there are articles for everyone on all kinds of topics, from anthropology to zoology.  Each issue is totally unique and the articles give you little bits of wisdom and insight to think about the past, present and future.  This is the one magazine that I always pickup when a new issue is available.

Discovered this magazine last year at Borders. Picked up an issue and read it cover to cover. Picked up the next issue and did the same. I decided to subscribe because I'm getting rid of the Glamour and US Weekly magazines for something with a different perspective. I just resubscribed for another year.
