Hit and miss

Okay, legs face it. Atomic turquoise has quite the controversy in the manic panic world. The color is just so hit and miss. If you have that PERFECT shade of blonde, the color will look like your most amazing mermaid dream hair, but if your hair isn't the right blonde.... It will come out green. Trial and error.

Good if you are committed to have turquoise hair.

For this dye I can not stress it enough that your hair HAS to be a WHITE blonde, like ice white, before you use this dye. If you do not do that then your hair is going to come out green-y instead of turquoise. If you are going to do this yourself make sure you get a good quality HAIR bleach in 40, only bleach your hair in settings i.e. do all of your hair use a good toner, and then wait at least a week before you do it again (And wait at least a week between the last bleach job and dye job). I know that sounds a lot like over kill but trust me, it is better to do this in segments than to fry all of you hair because you want it blue. If you really want it blue you can wait! Effectiveness This dye is really effective if you followed what I just said. It works great, gives amazing color, that stays vibrant for about a month. It will lose its vibrancy so you should keep an extra tub of this dye around for touch-ups, and to mix in with your conditioner so that you can get a boost every now and then.

Remember to bleach your hair before using this dye!

I honestly do not know why I keep trying this dye! This time, I did bleach the pieces of my hair that I wanted to dye before using Manic Panic dye in the color Atomic Turquoise. That is the biggest piece of advice I can give about this dye. If you want a bright color from this dye, you have to bleach your hair first. I did streaks for this color. The color itself came out okay. It was not nearly as bright as the color in the jar would lead you to believe, but I did like it. It is not permanent, so it will fade. It will fade very quickly. This dye is very message to apply, so make sure you have a dye bowl and a dye brush to apply it to your hair. I made sure I purchased all of these items before I dyed my hair and because I was prepared, I had a better experience that I had in the past with Manic Panic dyes. I recommend on using this dye if you have first bleached your hair and you have the appropriate items to aid the dying process.

Too difficult to get the color you would be expecting.

1

This was the hardest color to work with. If your hair is too dark, the color isn't seen. If your hair is too bleached, it comes out too green. No matter what we did, we could NOT get the color we were expecting. Even a hair professional told my daughter and I that it was the worse brand to get turquoise in. It was NOT worth the price, either. 10 bucks for this jar and no color to be found. The color that DID come out only lasted through 2 shampoos. Really? When you want to have more than one color in your hair, do not have Manic Panic's Atomic Turquoise as one of them. Effectiveness Even after getting my daughter's dark brown with blonde and red natural streaks lightened to a medium blonde, her hair came out green. Yellow and Blue equals Green. The underside of her hair was her normal darker color where the Turquoise came out unseen. Any of my daughter's pre-turquoise color did not get the color she wanted and came out so fast that there was no purpose in using it. Funny how I should have listened to others and their experiences. Ease of Application It's a non-normal hair color in a tub...how easy is the application going to be? It's scooped out and plopped in the hair since brushes do not work well with this type of dye, at least in our experience. After rubbing it on every strand that we wanted the color at and letting it sit for 45 minutes to hope for a richer color and rinsing, we still got crap.

Great color, fades quickly

4

This color looks great when it's freshly done, but fades quickly within just a few days. I have the underside of my hair dyed with this color, and LOVE it. You'll want to make sure your hair is fully bleached to a white blonde before applying this - Originally the ends of my hair didn't take well to the bleach and it soon faded to a swampy green. (I had to re-bleach and start again). If you want to keep your hair bright I'd recommend reapplying it at least every couple weeks or so. It will look fantastic at first but in a few days it will start to fade. I get a lot of compliments on my hair, but people unfortunately usually refer to it as "green" instead of turquoise. With that said, it is super easy to apply, and healthy for your hair. It WILL dye your skin blue, so do your best to cover up your neck or do it when you don't have to be anywhere important for the next day or so. The color is beautiful and vibrant when it's first done. I am overall favorable of Manic Panic and would recommend them. This color may require more maintenance than others but it is fabulous and I would recommend it as well!

This product works very well only in certain circumstances.

This is not a true blue hair color, it has the slightest green tint to it (as it is turquoise), so if you are planning on dying your hair with this, you need to be careful. Your hair should be bleached to the lightest shade possible (nearly white), because if there are any yellow tones left over underneath, the color will turn your hair green. Otherwise, this color creates an absolutely beautiful and nice color, but if it's put over a yellow or dark hair color, it will turn out to be a very unpleasant color. It has a fairly nice consistency, and will not damage your hair.

Wouldn't use again

It took me a while to trust Manic Panic and get accustomed to how their hair dyes work. When I decided to dye my hair turquoise I was so excited and couldn't wait to pick up the Manic Panic Atomic Turquoise hair dye. About a week before dying my hair with this, I bleached and toned it to get the lightest shade of blonde so that the dye would soak in and color it to how I wanted. It was easy to apply, especially with light hair so I could actually see all the places that the hair dye didn't touch. I let it sit for 90 minutes, just like any other time I would use their dye, it's not harsh so it doesn't do any damage leaving it on longer. When I washed it out and dried my hair I was shocked that it was turquoise with a tint of green for some reason. I re-dyed it that night and waited to see the results the next day. It was still looking greener than it should and I was very dissatisfied with it, but I decided to try and get used to it, maybe it wasn't that bad. 5 days later was the first time I washed my hair, I'm usually very good at washing it and keeping the color in but for some reason it changed my hair color immediately. Every time my hair got wet it would just fade out to green until it looked like my hair had almost no tones of blue in it. I will never be using this color of theirs again and instead turn to other brands for a turquoise. After all the time I spent preparing to use Atomic Turquoise, it resulted in a waste of time and money. Would not recommend this to anyone. Effectiveness Not the color it should have been

Not so atomic in turquoise, Manic Panic

I'm a big fan of Manic Panic because their products are vegan & can be left in for many hours without thrashing your hair or burning your scalp. I understand that, since it is vegan, the color is not always as vibrant or lasting as other harsh chemical dyes however I've had better experiences with their products but this dye is not as stellar as I had hoped. It must be noted that I am a dark blond naturally & never bleach my hair, which may be a factor in the less than vibrant & that it appears more green than blue. Manic panic is easy to do since there is no mixing & only needs to applied directly to the hair; but it does take longer than the suggested time in order to get a more vibrant color. I personally leave the dye in my hair overnight to ensure the color is uber vibrant. Unfortunately, while I have attempted to make my hair completely vibrant by dying it multiple times, this dye isn't as *bam* as I'd like it to be. It's worth a shot to try but don't be too disappointed when your hair looks like algae & everyone asks if you dyed your hair for St. Patrick's day.
