Great router, has all the bells and whistles for an "N" router.

Very easy to set up and use, though I'm an advanced user. Wouldn't recommend it to first-timers, unless you have an "IT" guy handy. Performance I use it for 3 desktop drops and 2 wireless laptops. Also have a wii, photo frame and internet weather device attached. No issues. Setup & Ease of Use Easy for me, you may need some help if you're not comfortable setting up a router. Service & Support Excellent, no problems when calling tech services.

Get the most range with Linksys E3000

4

If you have problems with range and you are living in a big house you are reviewing the right product.  If you are looking for a fast speed router for streaming videos, and gaming, I should say you got it as well.  But if you are reviewing this product to see how the storage works on this router I should say it's a bit disappointing, and I will explain why shortly. I live in a two story building that has aluminum isolation in the walls and I had a very hard time receiving signal when I was downstairs with my other router.  I was really picky about how this router was so expensive and pricy, but after I received it I realized how comfortable I am now with this all new design for routers from Cisco.  It doesn't really have the best settings interface even though it has too much features for a regular use, but if you don't mind taking your time setting this router up you should be able to set everything up just fine, but in a timely manner.  I stream videos on my TV just fine and have never had any problems with it lagging.  I play PS3 as well online and I have no problems with connecting to others to play any game.

Top of the line wireless router

This review is in regards of the **Cisco-Linksys E3000 Wireless Router. **This product is one of the best of the best out there. Let me explain why. Not only are you receiving a product from Cisco but you're receiving a product with advanced technology. The Linksys E3000 Wireless Router features a dual-band N-router to optimizes your wireless needs (such as gaming, surfing the Internet). This device can connect to mostly any device out there that supports wireless access (ex: gaming consoles, DVRs, blu-ray players). This device will allocate and optimize your speed for great HD quality, whether you're streaming or downloading a video. One of the greatest feature that was included in this product is protection. Most people don't recognize that security is important, even for a product such as a wireless router. This device is keeps the internet at bay from threats with customizable security settings and WPA/WPA2 Personal and SPI firewall protection**. **If you're looking for a device that offers everything and anything, I highly recommend this device. Spend your money where it counts, you have my word on this. You won't regret it!****

This is a preety good router

The linksys e300 router is one of the better routers i have ever used. The usb support does not support usb printers which is a big downside although having an external hard drive plugged into is is nice to ave if you are running a lot of computers. the router supports 2 bands of frequency's the normal 2.4 ghz and the newer 5ghz. I dont have any computers or devices that can see the 5ghz band so that was kind of a waste for me. the usb support is a little slow and sometimes doesnt work properly. the range of the router is amazing this covers my entire property including back yard. one other down side is if two computers are trying to acces the harddrive at the same time it can cause some glitches and slow down speed massively. somthing you want ot avoid is having two computers edit the same file at the same time. the bottom line is that the linksys e300 in a good router but is on the more expensive side and the 5ghz band is somewhat useless unless you have thisngs that run on that band.

Excellent!!

It is a very good top end wireless router for home. Signal strength increses compare my old Linksys wireless router: W54GS V6. However, if there are too many devices (2 PS3, 2 Xbox360, 2 laptop and 1 desktop) running a the same time, the router gets overheat.

The Linksys E3000 router is highly recommended

5

After taking a long time looking and comparing different routers, I took my chance by going to a prestigious brand (in my opinion) and I do not gamble a lot. I needed a professional product that could meet my requirements (Dual band, great coverage, good speed ...). After having them in my hands the first time I could only think one thing, "this is a high quality product." Once installed, tested and working with it at full capacity, I can only talk about the product's benefits. In a home / office, 3 floors, it allows for full coverage and it's fast enough to work multiple computers and devices connected wirelessly. As announced on its website, it allows you to connect computers and other Internet devices and between them at N speeds in the 2.4 GHz and in the 5 GHz wireless bands simultaneously to help avoid network interference. You can use the 2.4 GHz to surf and check email, and the band of 5 GHz, less saturated, for entertainment. The only downside of this product is that it doesn't allow you to connect a printer on its USB port. Other than that, it is highly recommended!

Linksys E 3000 Wireless Awsomness !!!

5

I have over the last ten years or so owned just about every brand and type of wireless router recomended to me. This has by far been the easiest to set up router I have ever owned !!! Everything from price to ease of set up I have to say impressed me . I currently have two gaming machines 1 phone system 2 laptops and 1 55 " television running on and off this router at any given time and have never experienced and drop or lag that I can tell. The set up as compared to all the other routers I have owned was impressively easy . I have to date never had to call tech support for any assistance . The range is also impressive considering that it is installed at one end of my two story home with excellent reception at the farthest end of my home . I recommend this router to anyone who cares to listen . One other item connected to this router albeit hard wired is an item called a femtocell which increases my cell reception in my home . In my opinion if you want the best wireless router for the money the Linksys E3000 is it .

SIMULTANEOUS BANDS ARE IMPORTANT for multiple unit access

5

You can read reviews or product literature about all the features of the Linksys E3000, so I'm going to concentrate here on really what was MOST important to me about making this choice and paying the extra to purchase this unit AND a SIGNIFICANT CAUTION about using the GUEST CONNECT feature of Linksys 3000.  YES I WOULD REPURCHASE THIS UNIT AGAIN TOMORROW.  I'ts awesome, but with some warnings.  READ THE LIT CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU GO SETTING UP THE UNIT.    1.  The name --- Had Linksys before.  Truth be know -- historically, really liked the Linksys units but immensely  disliked their Customer Service by phone as NO ONE it seems could speak English. They farmed it out to SE Asia, India and other locations where naturally English is NOT the primary langugage. Made it MOST difficult to obtain service from someone you could NOT understand.   BUT . . . . THAT was a while ago.  I'm NOT finding that today with this new unit at all and the product manuals are far better today than 10 years ago. Plus CS chat and online is helpful, quick and technologically competent. 2.  "SIMULTANEOUS" 2.4 and 5.0 Ghz connections.  THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.  No matter what unit you look at, be sure to ask if this unit has this.  Two aspects of this are important.  a) the fact that you can connect to "two different" GHZ wirelessly but EQUALLY IMPORTANT is b) the fact that you can CONNECT TO both the 2.4 and 5.0 SIMULTANEOUSLY.    I purchased this unit in order to STREAM NETFLIX TO OUR BLU RAY PLAYER (Panasonic) and on via HDMI to our HDTV (Panasonic).   BUT --- so many people report drop outs, bad connections, etc with that.   With this Linksys 3000 you can ALLOCATE which computers or devices attached to your unit USE THE 2.0 GHZ frequency and which use the 5.0 GHZ frequency -- NOTE -- you must have a 5.0 GHZ capable device to use this frequency.  If you do, the advantage is you can select and dedicate bandwidth to either frequency by device attached (wireless or wired).  FOR STREAMING, IF YOU have a 5.0 GHZ capable device that's great PLUS in the Linksys software you can give it PRIORITY over other users in the houshold using the Internet at the same time so you don't experience the problem of "sharing" your netflix movie with the kids who are playing games at the same time in another room.  Yes -- you can hog the 5.0 GHZ band for ONLY your streaming if you want, assigning the 2.0 band for other users. This will give you better performance, PLUS simultaneous means you can use BOTH BANDS AT ONCE.  You don't have to choose ONE OR THE OTHER!   Both bands PLUS simultaneous use of both bands are BOTH important if more than one device will be using the internet at the same time.  3.  EXTRA "HARDWIRED" CAPABILITY for up to 4 additional ports Important to us in a "mixed" network like we have.  Wireless is GREAT but FACT IS -- YOUR connection speed WILL NOT BE as fast as a direct hardwired connection.  Thus, I connected 2 personal computers "directly" to the LinkSys LAN ports (RJ45 jacks) (hardwired) using CAT 6 shielded patch cable (ordered online from ProVantage) PLUS I also hardwired the Blu Ray Player to another port via a 50' CAT 6 shielded patch cable -- NOT using the wireless capabilities of the router at all for these three connected devices - rather using the direct hardwired ports on the Router.   We use the WIRELESS features of the Router for other computers in the house and for guests (family) who visit with their wireless laptops and need / want Internet access while they are here.  This unit allows for this MIXED HYBRID type of network AND CONNECTIONS. 4.  EASY SETUP Geez -- The new Cisco connect program is a breeze.  Plus they have improved their user manuals, and their router management is a dream via Cisco connect or via the brower window.  5.  WORDS OF CAUTION ABOUT THE "GUEST ACCESS" FEATURE of Cisco Connect. You can let Guests have access to your Internet  Connection TWO WAYS using this router.  1)  Simply - Cisco Connect Software using "Guest Access", or 2) Simple "Add a Computer" using Cisco Connect Software.  After much time on the phone and via chat with tech support (concerns on my part) -- I can say confidently, we'll USE ONLY one way -- and that is NOT via the "Guest Access" option.    Option a) GUEST ACCESS -- does keep the "Guest" "out of your computer -- meaning if you're on a network sharing files with others on your home LAN -- the Guest has no access to these -- supposedly.    Option b)  ADD A COMPUTER -- you let the guest person in by "adding them as another computer" to your existing home network LAN.  IF you have file and print sharing turned on for your network of home users -- then yes, if they turn this on too -- they can see your files via the network -- based on what you set up for your home LAN.  PROBLEM WITH GUEST ACCESS IS IT REALLY ACTS LIKE A INTERNET HOTSPOT -- ITS NOT AS SECURE AS LETTING IN A GUEST AS "ADD A COMPUTER".    It took much challenge and prodding on my part to get them to admit this during multiple chat sessions, but truth be known, GUEST ACCESS may not let the guest into your computer -- but it's more OPEN INTERNET ACCESS -- and what they do/see on the internet can affect your system.  BESIDES IF YOU LET THEM IN BY "ADD A COMPUTER" YOU CAN temporarily turn off file/print sharing on your network if that's important to you, PLUS as they are now a part of your LAN (adding them as another computer) , you can go into the ADVANCED SETTINGS of Cisco Connect and set the parameters for their use on your internet -- parental controls, the channel you allow them to use, the time you allow them on, etc.  These features don't seem to be available when you just use Guest Access. All in all -- LOVE my Cisco Linksys Wireless N Gigabit Router for it's many features and long-term reliability I've experienced with Linksys overall.  Tech support seems to have improved drastically since the last unit I purchased from Linksys as have their manuals.  CHAT online is also good.  AND - I haven't yet reached a tech support person who couldn't speak English without such a thick accent that I couldn't understand them.  THAT was a great relief and they were most pleasant in helping me to set up some advanced settings unique to my situation. .

great performance

This is the router that I upgraded from a cheaper and inferior Linksys router. I'm very happy for the upgrade, especially now in a bigger house, this router is more than sufficient for my need. This router supports wireless G/B/N. I specifically choose this router based on the reviews, and wireless N so I can stream my videos to my HTPC, which works great compare to my older router. As with most modern routers, this supports all the encryption you can think of, WPA, WPA2, and less secured WEP. This unit also supports 4 ports switch for wired ethernet if you want faster connection. Wireless side, it supports simutaneously two common wireless bands, so you can separate different wireless cards, or support guest connections, for security purposes. This doesn't come with any antena however, but I'm still impressed with the speed. If you are looking to upgrade your current router, this is defintely the one to get.
