If you make your own laundry detergent, you can't go wrong with Fels Naptha Heavy Duty Laundry Bar Soap. I have been making my own liquid laundry detergent for several years now and I've tried many different bars of soap as the base (including Ivory and Kirk's Castille soap bars), but none tops Fels Naptha for value and cleaning power. I also like the super-fresh scent of Fels Naptha, which permeates the entire batch of liquid laundry soap. An added bonus is that the Fels Naptha Heavy Duty Laundry Bar can be used to pre-treat stained clothing. That way, I don't have to keep a separate stain remover on hand. I just keep an extra bar of Fels Naptha near the washing machine and when I catch a stain, I rub the wet bar over the stain then throw it in the wash and launder as normal. Fels Naptha works like a champ to get even stubborn stains out. And ring-around-the-collar is no more on my husband's dress shirts! This is a powerhouse bar for a great value!

I am new to this soap but so far I like it. I make my own laundry detergent at home and it calls for 1/3 of a bar of this Fels Naptha or 1 bar of Ivory soap. I have used both and so far I prefer the Fels Naptha because it does not leave a residue on everything like Ivory does. So far the homemade laundry detergent using Fels Naptha has not failed me. I have washed clothes coated in mud and blood (from an accident). While it didn't completely get all the blood out, I believe it was because I waited too late to treat the blood stain before putting it in the laundry. While it does work good on the laundry, I do have one complaint. I absolutely hate the small of Fels Naptha. It smells like the old cheap scents from back in the day. When I shred the bar and add it to the hot water the house is filled with its smell and it ends up making my head throb. I wish they would come up with a better scent. But, I don't buy the soap for the scent, I buy it because of its hard work. Overall a great laundry product!

I was given a large jar of home made laundry detergent for my birthday last year, and as I used it, I found that I loved it. I finally got the "recipe", and noticed the product Fels-Naptha bar soap on the list. I have never heard of this soap, nor paid any attention to it in the laundry isle. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to find, and especially happy with the price. I bought it and quickly made my own batch of home made laundry detergent. I LOVE this product, because it smells fresh, so I know that my clothes will smell fresh. But it also has great stain fighting ability. I have 4 kids (5 if you count my husband), and they attract stains like magnets. I haven't tried to pre treat any of their clothes with this, because it never crossed my mind, but I will definitely give it a try, because I know that just using it in the detergent has been a huge help in reducing the number stains on my kids clothes.

I first heard about Fels Naptha a few years ago, but had never tried it. Boy, was I missing out. I was sent a sample to try out and I'm so glad I did. This stuff is like a magic eraser for stains. Just wet the bar (or the clothing item) and rub it on the stain(s)! I put the Fels Naptha bar to the test on some chocolate milk stains that I was sure would never come out. I had tried my old stain remover, and then forgot to check it before I threw the shirt in the dryer. And most people know once a stain has been "set" from the heat in the dryer, you might as well throw it away or use it for a rag. But, to my amazement, the stains were completely gone, and the shirt looked brand new! I could not believe it! I was so excited I had to show my mom and sister. They decided to try it too. Next I told my friends, and they went out and bought some. They absolutely love it. Fels Naptha will definitely replace my old stain remover spray from now on.

I use this to make my own laundry soap. I have used other bar soaps in my laundry soap recipe but this is far and above superior! My clothes have never been cleaner, softer or smelled fresher. Other bar soaps that I have tried for my laundry soap recipe, tend to leave a film on my clothes and in my machine and sometimes I even find clumps of it in my clothes but the Fels Naptha soap rinses clean every single time. I have sensitive skin and will break out and my skin will actually burn from laundry soaps, but I have never had that happen with the Fels Naptha. I have a ten month old child who also have very sensitive skin and the ONLY thing that I can use on him without an outbreak of eczema is the laundry soap that I make with the Fels Naptha. I would recommend this product to everyone, and in fact do. I tell all my friends and family how to make their own laundry soap and ALWAYS recommend that they only use Fels Naptha!

Recently we started making our own Laundry Detergent, and Fels Naptha is one of the ingredients required. I love how it smells, and it also is very effective at removing odors and stains. We buy the bars for 99 cents at Market Basket, and grate it with a cheese grater on the smallest setting. 1 Bar is enough for 12-16 loads of laundry, since you only need ~1 tbsp. to be effective. You can also use it as a pre-treater for deep stains. Just wet the bar and rub it on the stain. It's really a great product!

I have never used Fels-Naptha on it's own but it is great in homemade laundry soap. I have tried other bar soaps in the recipe and always come back to Fels-Naptha. It has a light clean smell, is easy to grate, and works well at getting the clothes clean. I recommend Fels-Naptha to anyone considering making their own laundry soap.

We were looking for a way to cut laundry expenses for our High effiency washer and dryer and came upon a pinterest link with instructions on using make your own detergent that uses Fels Napth as an ingredient. It also used Arm and Hammer Washing Powder and 20 Mule Team Borax as ingredients. Fels was not easy to find as my local store did not carry It I had to go on amazon and buy it alond with the Arm and Hammer wash powder, but the fels naptha was very inexpensive in a 2 pack.The homemade detergent we made with shredded bar of fels naptha works amazing, as well as any store bought detergent I have used in the past but for a fraction of the cost. Another thing that I like about the Fels Naptha is that it does not have a strong scent but still manages to make my clothes smell clean. I plan on Fels Naptha as part of my laundry detergent mix forever due to the awesome results and cheap price. One bar can be used to make 5 gallons of detergent. My son has allegies and Fels Naptha does not bother his sensative skin or make him sneeze like other laundry detergents.
