Intro — Planning our vacation and looking at rental car options, when the option for a Dodge Charger came up at Dollar Rent A Car, we chose this for a couple of reasons. One was because the price was good for the full size car we were needing as a family of four, and the other was that as a car lover, my husband really wanted the Charger. And it wasn't just him. I rented a car from Dollar over the holidays.  Let me tell you.  I don't know if I would ever rent from there again.  I know that the rental car business is a give and take relationship.  You TAKE my reservation, and you GIVE me the car I reserved!  I rented a mid-size car from there online, but when I got to the airport counter, rather than doing me the courtesy of a lip service apology, and letting me know that they were out of that kind of car, they immediately proceeded to upsell me on the next size car, not TELLING me why they were doing that.  We agreed on… read full review »

I had been a frequent user of Dollar car services - at least until this last trip.  They charged for extra insurance and when I questioned them they told me the charge wasn't for insurance, it was the regular base rate.  When I received the receipt for checking the car back in the code on the receipt matched the insurance code.  They have refused to refund the extra insurance saying I used it and I initialed it (I actually did not initial it) and that I didn't inform them before taking the car out of the lot that it was wrong.  I handle travel for many companies and have… read full review »

On three separate occasions i booked a Dollar reservation due to the price of the rental.   I alos joined the preferred customer program.   Using the preffered custmer reservation I found myself  waiting longer in the pickup area then the people who went to the counter in the terminal and just had to pick up keys.  All three times my rated on the contract was higher than the rate I was quoted on the confirmation.  Alszo i was told that a Toyota Corrla was a Full size car equal to a Dodge Charger.   I think not.   When i wrote to… read full review »

  I rented a 4x4 truck in Panama and found out that not only is there a loop hole in the coverage policy, but they can truly gouge you.  The car got stuck on a muddy road and Dollar charged me to tow the truck back to town...4 times!  The first three were unsuccessful; including one truck that broke down requiring repairs...they charged me for the repairs!  I appealed to Dollar in the US and they said "Oh well." — I checked with other car rental agencies in Panama and they said I would have only been charged for the last successful tow...sensible.… read full review »

We recently booked a rental through Dollar in Orlando.  The entire experience was great.  We got right in an out at the rental counter.  The price of the rental was excellent and could not be beat by other competitors.  It was very easy to book online.  The vehicle was very clean, the price was just as quoted and we received the vehicle that was booked.  We were not pressured into purchasing any other added options.  Drop off was just as smooth!  Completely happy with our rental from Dollar and would definitely recommend them.  We would use them… read full review »

Their prices have consistently been better, but the people you have to deal with are less than ideal. The first dealing I had - the guy was talking about what a great deal he was giving me and lied about some parts of the offer. It was my first time renting a car, and I paid for my ignorance.
