Comcast - Cable Company Review Summary

Comcast cable customers had mixed reviews of Comcast. One satisfied reviewer says “Comcast Digital provides great picture quality, a DVR integrated with the cable box, a nice program guide, tons of on Demand, etc.” Another reviewer enjoyed how Comcast offered them “a good variety of channels.” But not everyone was happy, many customers report that Comcast is expensive and can hit you with hidden charges. Customer service, often a sticking point with cable companies, does not win points by our reviewers, with one referring to the people she talked to as a “multi person chain of incompetence”. Ouch! Several people report sticking to Comcast only because it is the only Cable company in their area. Says one such reviewer “I can’t wait to kick them to the curb”.

Comcast Digital provides great picture quality, a DVR integrated with the cable box, a nice program guide, tons of On Demand, etc. The only problem is the customer service. It can take over an hour to get a human being on the phone :(

However, if you are considering a TIVO and are about to spend several...

We live in an area where there is absolutely no tv reception, at all, if you don't have cable set up. So, while Comcast's basic cable was pretty lame, it did enable us to watch regular, old fashioned network television. The serviceman who came to install the cable arrived on time and was very polite....

So all this talk about digital started a discussion about Comcast versus my current provider of Dish Network through ATT.  An installation and upgrade of service while using Comcast Cable has taught me a lot about this service, that in many areas is the only one available. I am lucky, in my area I have choices.

In order to upgrade your Comcast Cable you have to wait around until they can come to your home to install the new high definition cable box (sort of like a little black box).  Installation went great -- if you include having to take the whole day off work to wait, but that seems pretty...

We had Comcast for cable several years ago until we switched to DirectTV, because it had more and better channels and a lower price.

The Comcast cable internet had worked ok even after their contract installers started a fire in my house. BUt that's another story.

I've become much more aware of Comcast lately because of the well-publicized disputes (separate) between the Big Ten Network and Comcast and the NFL network and Comcast. The BTN and NFLN was to be included on Comcast's basic tier. Comcast wants to pout them on a sports tier.

In its most simplest terms, Comcast wants to pass the cost of the...

When we moved to this small town I didn't take in to account that we would only have one option for cable and cable modem services. At first we thought that it would be pretty cool to have phone, cable and internet all under the same company with a great sign up bonus of 1 year for $99 a month. Then after missed calls, late messages and the special ended, we thought that maybe we weren't getting a deal after all. Now we pay $140 a month for these 3 services and we don't even get HBO or showtime! Plus we have constant problems with the phone service. Unfortunately, due to the size of the town we... review »

In 2 1/2 years of living in my condo I've had to replace my DVR 3 times because it kept dying on me. Then when the modem for the computer went(which was also needed for my Vonage) they were no-shows 2 days in a row because they said they called first for an appointment already made and got no answer. That was because my phone didn't work without cable! They are all idiots.

I like Comcast quite a bit as a service provider.  While there are some cheaper options out there, Comcast has always performed like a champ for us.  I have their Triple Play Option - cable entertainment, phone/fax lines, Internet service, and I can do nothing but rave about the service they provide.

I have two phone lines, one fax, and one personal with all of the options, and no long distance charges.  In the five plus years I have had Comcast, and living in an area with occasional really nasty weather, I have never had one service go down, and thats a lot more than I can say for my previous...

Everytime I've had to hook up cable or transfer service with Comcast there will always be random charges on my bills and miscellanious fees that show up.  I continually have to call and get things taken off my bill but only after holding for long periods of time and talking to several different people to get one issue taken care of only to have to go through the same thing again the next month.  If there were any other providers in my area that were affordable I would absolutely switch but unfortunately there are not.

When Comacast bought out my old cable company, we couldn't get to our website any longer. No one in the area could. When we called to complain the tech support guy told me that "due to the location of our server, it was so far off the 'back-plane' of the internet, it couldn't be reached." When I told him we had no problems before Comacast..and we've been sending everyone to AOL to view our site. He hung up on me. When I told the gentleman that hosts our website about my conversation, he called Comacast and had the guy fired. If you can't dazzle me with briliance, don't try to baffle me with B.S....

I am presently using Comcast services for my home.  On the one hand, I like their internet service a lot because it's very fast, but on the other hand, I HATE Comcast's phone service.  The connection on my phone is always bouncing for some reason.  My family, and friends say it sounds like my phone is going in and out all of the time when they talk to me on the phone.  So while I will recommend them for their internet service, I give a big thumbs down for the home phone service.

It's WAY overpriced and the internet is snail slow. I guess I have to keep typing because this has to be 200 words or more or something like that. The cable is always going out. I can't record two shows and watch one at the same time. It messes up the remote control all the time and gets stuck fast forwarding too far or rewinding too far. It sometimes deletes shows when your trying to push the buttons to get the remote to do something. I just don't like it.

I must rank myself in the league of thousands of other people who can get no reception at all without cable service.  If you want to watch the tube in the town where I live, (unless you have an antenna or want to climb up on the roof and attach a satellite dish), you are automatically a Comcast customer.

I will say that in a lot of ways Comcast has done a good job, providing a good variety of channels and (in my own area at least) a not-unrespectable assortment of HD channels.  On those occasions when Comcast personnel came to my home, they were conscientious about being on time and did an...

Here's a 7-month saga with Comcast. Long story short (and, trust me, this IS the short version...), I canceled my TV in November but kept my internet. January, I find out they're still billing me for TV and have been since November. I had set up automatic billing, so I wasn't paying much attention to my bills. I go through rounds and rounds of calling customer service, finally a promise for a refund. March, I look again and there it is, still charging me. More rounds, more assurance of a refund.

This time though, they somehow disconnect my internet in the process. I am completely "wired," so being...

Comcast knows we have no other options so I guess that's why there is no need, in their eyes, to fix anything. Almost every rep I've ever dealt with has been an idiot but the last straw was several months ago when I needed a service call because my internet was out. I have Vonage, so therefore, so was my telephone. (I do not have a cell). They cancelled 3 appts on me because they said they called my home to comfirm the appt each but I never got back to them. Probably because, as I mentioned EACH time I'd call back from work the next day, that they COULDN'T reach me at home and I DID want to have... review »

Don't get comcast!! I have had terrible time with them.  They disconnected my cable and messed up my billing statement.  Don't even think about trying to contact them through the phone.  95% automated, rest is talking to someone over seas.  Unless there is a local office near you and you are willing to go there, I would suggest getting satellite instead.
