Charter - Cable TV Review Summary

While there are some people who are satisfied with their experience with Charter Cable, the ones that didn’t like it seemed to have outright contempt for them and their comments aren’t pretty. Let’s start with the positives. Reviwers who actually liked Charter Cable TV Service said that the price was right, and though it takes a while to get through to customer service, they tend to handle disputes in a courteous manner. Most people, however, did not agree that the customer service was good, here are just a few of their comments; “you can talk to six different people at Charter and get different answers”, “the service is far worse than I have ever seen”, “they are horrible to deal with”, “the right hand doesn’t know what the left is doing”, “they are nothing but ripoff artists, don’t give them your money”, “pathetic”. You get the idea, the customer service has a horrible reputation with our reviewers, many of whom live in remote areas and have to rely on Charter Cable as their only option in cable tv. We encourage you to look around, we’ve got reviews of Time Warner Cable, Cablevision, Mediacom and many more!

I have had Charter for a number of years and the only good thing about it is most of the time you have internet service and regular channels, but most days your paid channels and music channels become fuzzy right in the middle of a movie.  The main complaint I had with Charter was in selling me their... read full review »

I have called Charter Cable 6 times and made appointments to obtain service.  The appointments were set up and no one has been here yet.   Also, no one is doing any calling except for me.  I have been sitting here with a new TV that I cannot watch for 3 weeks.

I told myself before I wrote this that I would not use any bad words in describing my former television service provider.  Actually, I think I used every foul word possible while on the phone or online with Charter during the past 10 plus years, so perhaps I have exhausted them sufficiently to not add any colorful words in this review.

You might like Charter IF: 1) you're a masochist, 2) you appreciate the finer points of broken, unintelligible English, 3) you have a fondness shoddy accouting and fuzzy math, 4) you enjoy calls from 'collection agents' when your bill is 1 day past due, 5) "we...

Charter is the only service available in our area and locally, they tend to treat you that way.   Once when we called for service, they didn't show up for 2 appointments and I ended up carrying the box to the office and getting it replaced myself.  We disconnected and reconnected ourselves.   When this occurred, we were billed and we have auto-debit so they took it out with the next bill.   We fought it out with them for 4 months, they said they would credit the next bill each month and it never happened.   We finally gave up because each time I spent 30 to 40 minutes on the phone, my...

It never ceases to amaze me how much these cable companies charge for TV service.  Only twice in my life have I ordered cable.  Both times I switched back to FREE over-the-air TV.  This last time took a new innovation - DTV.

When I first moved into this apartment about 3 years ago, the landlord would not allow an outdoor antenna on the roof.  And an inside antenna got next to nothing.  I was stuck either going with Charter Cable or a dish of some kind.

They "claim" no disruption in TV service during storms.  That's a joke.  Sometimes it would go out for just a few minutes...sometimes for...

If we had any other choice, we would NEVER use Charter.  But unfortunately, much the like the downside of all telecommunications companies, Charter has a monopoly since they are the only ISP in the area.

Charter seems to work using Chaos theory, in that if a butterfly flaps its wings in China, our cable goes out.  We pay 125.00/month for cable television and cable internet, and at any given time, our digital cable box stops receiving.  Do they reimburse us for all the time our cable is out?  NO!  Because they say there is nothing they can do about it.

So when we finally decided to cancel...

I have Charter Digital Cable service because it is the only cable provider in my area, and my husband and I did not want satellite tv. I hate the fact that they have a monopoly over us because they use that fact to their full advantage! They absolutely do not keep service appointments on time and their prices are pretty high. Don't use them if you have another alternative!

We attempted to sign up for their triple play offer and because it was such a nightmare I ended up cancelling everything I had with them, even previous subscriptions.  Their tech was scheduled to arrive between 12:00 and 4:00 to install the phone modem.  He did not show up till 6:00 started to install the modem and had problems.  He worked till 8:00 pm and said it was too dark and too late.  Our internet was now not working and had been before but we could use our phone.  He said he would have them send someone else out to finish up.

A week went by without another tech showing up and no call...

Charter is by far the worst company I have ever done business with.  Since they have a monopoly on the area, we're forced to either use thier service or stick with dialp and rabbit ears.  Nobody wants to go back to the 80s and 90s with rabbit ears and dialup, so we purchase cable tv and broadband through our local cable company.

Charter not only has problems from time to time with their signal, but the service is by far the worse I've ever seen.  It takes forever to get someone, then when you do it's not anyone local.  They speak very little english, and never understand what it is you're asking. ...

Well, when I first moved into this area, I got cable through Charter. I called them and made appointments with them twice before they finally showed up, for one. Then when they did, they sent someone who didn't know what they were doing because it took him over 2 hours to install it.....and then something went wrong and I couldn't watch TV for almost 2 weeks, but I sure paid for it! When it finally got fixed, then they kept raising prices on me. I could never get any help when I needed it or get my questions answered about my bill. Then pay-per-view movie charges started showing up on my bill...which...

I had cable and internet. Internet goes out frequently, to start with. Then I received an offer in the mail for a certain rate and when my rate went up in spite of that, I kept calling customer service to have my bill corrected. I was nice about it but they would never even fix the bill. One of the customer service managers, when I asked who I could speak with above her, as in her manager, simply lied and said there was no one else I could speak with and that she was going to terminate the conversation. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Since she is not the president of the company,... read full review »

My folks had bought a new house out in the middle of no where and when they went to look at a cable center they found that Charter was the only one that serviced there area and they had been using Cox Communication. Well they went with them and the guy shows up in a beat-up old pickup and cloths that look like they have not been washed in awhile. They get in, the house is only a few months old, and installation takes just a few minutes to hookup. Then he has to run the line from the house to the power lines, which are behind the house. That gets done and they are told someone will be out in 7-10... read full review »
