Similar to other rice cereals but I love the packaging!

Rice cereal choices are pretty standard as far as a first cereal for babies. There are a few different options in terms of brands but the quality and texture of the rice cereal is pretty standard. The innovative packaging is what sets Beech-Nut Rice Cereal apart from the other brands. I love that Beech-Nut offers the option where you can pour the rice cereal from a spout. Rice cereal is very light and it is difficult to contain all of it in the bowl if you are pouring it from a bag or from a box. The pour spout on the Beech-Nut container concentrates the flow of the rice cereal and minimizes the mess that is created. I find that I get the most value out of Beech-Nut Rice Cereal because of the design of the container. I also like that I am able to find manufacturer coupons for this product. Overall, I am very satisfied with Beech-Nut Rice Cereal and plan to continue to use this product.

Rice cereal is a first food for just about every infant. And the Beech Nut brand is one of two that I have fed to infants I have cared for on a regular basis. I have found that at most stores that carry multiple brands of rice cereals, Beech Nut is the cheapest. It also has the best packaging in my opinion. The screw on top is so much easier for pouring compared to other brands packaging. I have tasted many different rice cereals and I found the texture of Beech Nut to be a little smoother than some other brands, which is a plus when you are first introducing it to an infant. It is also easier to mix to thicken with first foods to get babies used to them. I do not swear by all of Beech Nuts baby food products as you will see if you read my reviews. I am a big fan of Gerber, but this is one of my favorite baby food products period. Quality of Ingredients I feel good about the ingredients that are used in making this rice cereal. With babies I feel it is very important for the quality of ingredients to be very good since its being put in a still developing tummy. Safety The smooth texture of this rice cereal makes it very safe for babies who are just learning how to eat baby foods instead of just formula.

Looks absolutely disgusting...but my daughter seems to like it.

I decided too give this cereal a try because after signing up for their e-mail club they send me a coupon for a free carton of rice cereal and a coupon for a few free baby food jars. It was hard to find, so I ended up walking around with the coupon for a while before getting the chance to use it. When I finally came across it, I grabbed a carton right away. I like the design of the carton that this cereal comes in. It pours nicely and I didn't make a mess when I was pouring it into the bowl. As I dumped it into the bowl I noticed that it seemed to be a lot finer than the Gerber rice cereal I usually purchase. It was more like a powder than flakes, which seemed strange. It also didn't mix up as well as Gerber. It was like it didn't absorb the liquid quite right. Also, after I mixed it up, I tried to add more cereal inot the mix and it wouldn't really blend well. Even after that, I gave it a try. Believe it or not my daughter gobbled it up. I couldn't believe it! The texture looked gross and it didn't smell that great either, but it clearly didn't bother her any. She actually seemed to like it. I guess we'll give it a few more tries to see how it goes!   Quality of Ingredients Quality is ok. Looks gross, seems to taste fine. Safety No more dangerous than any other mushy baby food

I am a first time parent who is on a very limited budget. I have learned that the best name brand product out there is not always the best product for everyone. I had read reviews on various blogs and websites while pregnant about Beech-Nut and how budget friendly it is and how it was a proven food great for babies. My first experience was a good one. I was surprised at how well it mixed and didn't clump like I had expected it. My daughter never had a problem with this rice cereal, or any other Beech-Nut product. We have tried other, name brand rice cereals, and was not impressed. I had a coupon for a different brand and decided it check it out. It was a very clumpy, messy product. I was spilling the other product trying to pour out the cereal from the side spout. Beech-Nut's screw off top makes it quick and easy to pour. I didn't ever feel that I was wasting any by spilling or because of the box design. I would highly recomment Beech-Nut products to anyone. The most expensive doesn't mean it is the best product on the market.

My son has food allergies and is a breastfed baby. I had to cut all dairy, soy and corn products out of my diet so I couldn continue breastfeeding him. He has really bad reflux when I was eating those foods. When it came time to find a cereal to start feeding him at 6 months I needed something that would work with his allergies and this cereal is perfect! Just two ingredients!! AND HE LOVES IT!! The price is great and we are able to find it at just about any store. It mixes with breastmilk well and had a great texture. I wish more companies would make simpler baby foods with less fillers like this! Beech nut also offers really great coupons, etc. so we were able to get a couple of boxes free. We have liked this cereal so much that we have bought some of the Beech nut jarred foods. I make my own baby food mostly though and this cereal is a great mix in for the fruits and veggies I make my son.

When our daughter's pediatrician gave us the go ahead to start our daughter on rice cereal, we started looking at all of the options available.  We decided to give the Beech-Nut rice cereal a try.  We were quite pleased!  One of the best things about the Beech-Nut rice cereal is the price.  It was comparatively more affordable than the other brands that were available for purchase at the store.  Another great quality was the packaging.  The twist off lid made it so easy to store without having to worry about it spilling.  It also helped when serving and not having to deal with making a mess.  While the twist off lid was very nice to serving, it also was a bit of a drawback. Because that was the only way to get the rice cereal out, there was some left that we were never able to get out of the bottom.  A little frustrating to waste the cereal that was left behind.  Other than that we were satisfied with this rice cereal and bought it for our daughter several times!

Cereal my son didn't love!

When we started my son on cereals they recommended we stick to one brand and one type at a time. We did that and as soon as he was getting bored we would try a new and different one. Well when we came to this variety he totally would not eat it. He loved all the other brands to the point where we would never have to throw any cereal away! Well this carton went almost completely wasted! I am not the type of parent to force food onto my son but I did try and give him this type on several occasions, all of which times he decided he hated it and preferred his bottle or toys over the food! That is a rarity since he loves solids! I tasted it and to be honest, it tasted just as gross all the other cereals.  After attempting to feed him this cereal three or four times I actually had to throw it out which I felt was such a waste especially since this brand of cereal really isn't cheap at all. If your baby likes it, then great.

got coupons to try baby food for free and got the cereal. unfortunately my son is past the cereal stage and now refuses to eat cereal. i would say that for the price you get a good amount of cereal, and the containers can be reused again which is great. i love beechnut products

Thick and lumpy, or thin and runny... there's no perfect medium.

I have used several Beechnut products in the past, but I first used this rice cereal with my second daughter.  I purchased this to use as her "first" solid.  What a disaster!  It is SO difficult to get the texture just right.  If you don't add the perfect amount of water right away you just end up with a mess.  Adding not quite enough water leaves it lumpy and thick.  When you try to add a little more, it's impossible to get rid of the lumps... and I'm not willing to run baby ceral through the blender!  Additionally, the longer it sits (as you're feeding baby or whatever) it seems to suddenly become thinner and runnier.  I have no idea how this happens, but it did almost every time.  Yes, this cereal was a little cheaper than Gerber.  But it's gross and NOT worth the hassle.  It also had a stronger smell than any cereal I had used previously.  I did check the dates and everything was fine, so I know it wasn't "old" or anything.  I would suggest you use Gerber or something else instead of Beechnut.  My husband even knows this isn't a good choice!

Easy to store...easy to prepare.

Some reviewers complain that this cereal tastes and smells awful. I disagree. It isn't a five star resraunt cuisine, but it isn't bad. It is just a little bland. I always mix it with breast milk which adds more flavor and makes it a little healthier for my son. The cereal itself is just cereal. What makes this product so nice is the container it comes in. It is super easy to open and just as easy to close. It doesn't leak out even when tossed about on the counter. Baby's are people too, so they are going to have their own tastes and some may prefer Gerber or another brand more, but this cereal works great for my baby and I think it would work just fine for yours too.
