I borrowed a copy of the American Girl magazine at the library, since they aren't very cheap to purchase (even if you get a subscription, the discount is nominal). I like how there aren't an ads in them, but other than that they aren't anything special. There are a few fun craft ideas, and some real world advice. I'd stick to the books though, more educational, and also more fun to read.

We LOVE this magazine. My 7 year old daughter loves American Girl and was into the magazine way before she was into the dolls. She can't wait for her magazine to arrive each month and it keeps her busy for hours! This is a great positive magazine for any little girl!

The self affirming and age appropriate contents makes this a must for girls ages through middle school. The magazine has reading for different ages and reading abilities. There are stories that enforce strong positive attitudes for young girls as well as arts and craft activities, outdoor sports and indoor games. The magazines reinforce girls having good self images, skills and behavior. This is much more appropriate than the images projected to girls in most media.

I have to say that I didn't really know much about this craze for all things American Girl till my Niece succumbed to the fever of American Girl. I am however impressed with the back story they provide for their Historical dolls and the quality. The same goes for the magazine it is perfect for little girls. My niece loves it and reads it from cover to cover.

My daughter could not wait for this magazine to arrive in the mail. She has never owned one of the dolls. She loved all the ideas and stories. I read through some of them and was impressed with the lack of advertizements in them. I thought they had wonderful ideas for girls. had great ideas for girls.
