Travelocity Review Summary

Travelocity.com is one of the best- known names in internet travel services, offering good deals on flights, hotel reservations, cruises, and other travel. Reviewers point out that Travelocity.com is easy to use and offers some great deals on travel both to United States destinations and to international locations. Beware, however, of some possible problems with Travelocity.com, especially in the areas of customer service and reservation cancellations. Sngvpv says of his trip to Disney, "My new best friend now is Travelocity.com. I have used twice already to book flights and to book hotels and I love it." “Very Helpful in Finding Travel Deals” and “Will Not Use Again” are among the many varied comments regarding Travelocity.com. Rlidden2000 says, "While easy to navigate, and the cheapest airfares, customer service is far less then stellar." It is one of dozens of different Travel Web Sites that generally gives customers what they want, but caution is advised.

A note of recognition: I was inspired to write this review from a recent one posted by AprileFisher re: Orbitz Travel entitled "A Necessary Evil". Please refer to her review as well for more details.

As a frequent traveler, I am always on the prowl for great deals on flights and hotels. My personal favorite...

I don't have a lot of spare time. I am lucky that we get to take vacations and planning one takes lots of time so I don't need any trouble when I decide to start my planning and research.  Once upon a time about 7 years ago I did use Travelocity frequently for my personal and business travel, now I...

Their complete lack of knowledge and lack of professionalism was disturbing. I was contacted by travelocity that my cruise needed to be reschedualed. It took me 3 hours and 5 phone calls to find out why and they still couldn't fix the problem. I had to call the cruise company myself and reschedual with them. I had to cancel the rental car because they couldnt make changes to it. And wanted to charge me to down grade the vehicle. I booked it through Alamo myself. The hotel we got was fine until we were told that our bathtub leaked and we couldnt take showers or baths anymore. Travelocity told us... read full review »

I'm a professor involved with student organizations. I took a student group to Seattle in April 2006, booking travel and especially a rental minivan through Travelocity. I arrived with four female students at 9:30 pm and we needed to just pick up the minivan at SeaTac airport and drive to the hotel in downtown Seattle. The car rental company, Advantage, did NOT have a minivan as we had reserved. I tried to call Travelocity (like in their numerous tv commercials) but 1-800 information DID NOT HAVE A PHONE NUMBER FOR TRAVELOCITY CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I had booked through Travelocity in order to get...

Travelocity is by far the worst of the on-line travel experiences I have experienced. While easy to navigate, and the cheapest airfares, customer service is far less then stellar, and is based in India.

I booked a flight from Florida to Manila for my Brother-in-Law to attend the funeral of his baby nephew. The Traveocity price was $200 less, so I booked it using my credit card. On the website and the subsequent emails, everything was confirmed and I was told it was a e-ticket. Later that evening (after 7:00 p.m. on a Friday night), I received a call from someone at Travelocity that barely spoke...

My new best friend now is Travelocity.com. I have used twice already to book flights and to book hotels and I love it.

My first experience was for my family trip to Disney. We found the best deal on travelocity and I booked our flight through them. Since it was really early before our flight (6 months in advance), at one point the airline changed the hours of our flight drastically for wathever reason they had. So I received an email from travelocity, telling me those changes and telling to call them if I was not satisfied with the changes. I wasn't so I called them up and it was really easy. I...

Travelocity is an institution, of sorts. When I first joined (years ago), I found their website full of useful information and great hints on destinations; prices too were competitive (if not consistenly a bit lower than elsewhere). I've just finished up with 3 international business trips, for which I used Travelocity twice - and I won't do it again .

First, the fees. If you scour the fine print, you'll find their fee listings. $11 to book an online ticket? Please... The other online service I recently used imposed a $5 fee that I believe was waived. This is just a bit cheesy.

But the real...

I recently booked a hotel in Montreal through Travelocity.  The reservation included a free breakfast, but I was told at the hotel that I did not have free breakfast.  I called Travelocity, and their agent confirmed that I did have free breakfast.  He then put me on hold while he called the hotel.  He came back on the line and told me that everything was taken care of.  I then went back to the front desk, and I was given free breakfast for the duration of my stay.  Travelocity stood by their guarantee.

When researching airfare, the majority of people think that the three major Internet sites (Travelocity, Expedia and Orbitz) are all the same. If you are just picking dates/times and doing comparison shopping, you will find that you are generally in the same ballpark with any of these three sites. What many people aren't aware of is that Travelocity has a feature that the other sites do not have that has the potential of saving literally hundreds of dollars on airfare, which I can personally attest to. This feature is their flexible dates search when searching for airfare. Using this feature, you...

My family is smitten with a roaming bug which has us roaming across the great United States every chance we get.   Upon a recommendation from a friend, we booked through Travelocity for our most recent stay.   When we arrived, the hotel was fine but the staff were terrible.  We left after 15 minutes, refusing to pay to be treated poorly.  Little did we know, our nightmare had just begun.   The hotel said they would refund 15 minute stay and not charge us for a full night, but since we had booked through Travelocity that Travelocity might charge us.   We contacted Travelocity before we...

Wow... where to start? I booked a flight and hotel package for a trip to Boston. Three days later the company i work for changed the availability of vacation time and any other time off. I called the Travelocity customer service line to cancel my entire package. The representative informed me there would not be a refund of any kind if we went through with the cancellation. From there we spoke to several different people and they gave us the same answers.

We were finally able to speak with a supervisor (Oscar) who seemed very nice and understanding. He told us that the flight would not be refunded...

I schedule travel for my boss who frequently travels both domestically and internationally.  I booked a flight for him on Travelocity because their prices were cheaper than I had found anywhere else.  The day after I booked his flights we found out he had to add a day to the itinerary.  I called customer service and was extremely disappointed in their ability to understand and help with the problem.  All I wanted to do was add a day... taking the exact same flights, but the following day... not a difficult concept.  I was on the phone for almost 3 hours and probably spoke with at least 8 people,... read full review »

On a recent travel experience I had, I have to say that Travelocity does hold true to their modo. Which is guaranteeing the trip at the lowest price. I had to book a last minute international flight, I had originally done it through Hotwire the day before departing and upon checking my emailing the same morning that I was leaving they simply wrote that the flight was not booked. What if I didn't check my email that morning? I went to Travelocity and booked the same flight, then a representative calls me and informs me that the Airline needs a minimum of 24hr notice to confirm it. When I explained...

My best friend was getting married in Vegas so we had to book the trip.  Heard a lot about Travelocity so we decided to use them.  MISTAKE.  Not only were our flights cancelled on us, the customer service was the WORST I have ever experienced.  I realize that the flight being cancelled was the fault of the airline, but trying to rebook and coordinate through Travelocity so four of us had the same flights was a nightmare.  Countless hours on the phone, numerous problems with language barriers, never a supervisor to be had - even when we called during the day as advised.   While some reps...
