I purchased the West Bend Stir Crazy Corn Popper approximately 2 years ago at an after the holiday sale at WalMart for $20.00. I had wanted a popcorn maker for a very long time, but had put it off as a frivolous expense in this day of super fast and easy microwave popcorn. I came home so excited with my fabulous find and super bargain and could not wait to start it up. I had all my children gather round to watch the excitement.
I had not had a popcorn maker since my college days and it was an item I had since missed. When I wanted to make "real" popcorn, I made it in a pot on the stove, and...
read full review »I have had my Stir Crazy popcorn maker for 3 years now and still love it. It has slowed down a little over the years. For the first year it was used pretty much daily and never let me down. It is easy to use, all you need to do is put about a tablespoon of popcorn oil around the base, then add desired amount of popcorn. Check the chart that comes with the maker, you don't want to over flow it and have popcorn overflow. The cover of the popcorn maker can be used as bowl, when it finishes popping just flip the machine over and the popcorn is now in the bowl. You can flavor it to your...
read full review »In 1990 I bought my first West Bend stir crazy popcorn maker for five dollars at a garage sale. It was only a 4 quart and the cover/bowl was a transulent yellow (our current one is a six quart, and the lid is clear), and worked great until around 1998 when the plate just wouldn't heat anymore. After that I couldn't find one until 2007! Boy was I happy when I saw it in the Christmas isle, and even more pleased when Santa left it for me under the tree! I like to watch the popcorn pop through the cover (which becomes the serving bowl when turned upside down by clasping the heat resistant handles)....
read full review »If you're looking for a popcorn maker that makes superb popcorn then look no farther than the Westbend Stir Crazy Popcorn Popper. A simple non-stick product that has only one removable moving part. Uses very little oil (peanut oil is preferred) and the unit heats evenly so there are very few if any unpopped kernels. Non greasy kernels provide a very special and tasty treat. If you prefer you can also add butter/margarine that cascades and drizzles overtop the popped corn. The dome that protects your kitchen from errant kernels also serves as a serving bowl. Clean up is a snap. The...
read full review »Our family has used the West Bend Stir Crazy popcornmakers for years and years. Our day got us started using them, and now everyone in our family has one. The popcorn comes out perfectly every time--we have never had popcorn burned. The bowl is big enough to make a batch large enough for a family of four (or more, depending on how much popcorn you eat!). It does have a great well for the butter, but we choose not to use that for health reasons. The stirrer has never become stuck or stopped working on any of our poppers. It is easy to disassemble and very easy to clean by hand. The...

This popcorn maker is pretty awesome. It's not quite movie theater popcorn, but it still has that great, popped-in-oil taste. Plus I love the conveninece of the lid becoming a bowl. It makes for much easier clean-up.
I should probably mention that I'm on my second Stir Crazy popcorn maker because I broke the first one by knocking it off my counter. See, the popcorn was so good that I kept making it and never really had a chance to put it away. Now,...
