Rent a real house from a real person and have a great vacation.

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I was not a happy camper growing up, and I mean literally. My dad always took up camping and fishing. I thought I would plan much better vacations, but sadly my boys hated motels and tourist neon. They would have loved my dad's vacations. They didn't love my first ones. I had to come up with a new plan.

I found Vacation Rental by Owner online at www.vrbo.com and that was the end of our vacation woes. I get a house for a week, and we all do our own things - some together and some not. We have our down time to rest at the house we've selected, and it's kind of like home but much more relaxing and really a break from the grind.

For my family, I always look for something out in the woods and o...

Can be decent, but CAVEAT EMPTOR

Overall
Rated 3 out of 5

VRBO is a cool site for finding private homes, villas, apartments for rent. You can save some serious coinage by using them well.

Gotta be careful though. You're dealing with private owners, NOT with a company. Build the trust relationship. Sometimes photos are not accurate. Sometimes "gotchas" are not disclosed (like 10 miles from town on a mule track that can't be navigated by anything other than a dirt bike). Read carefully, talk to the owners if you can, ask for more pictures...

The other thing to be aware of is prices. Sometimes the properties are a good deal...sometimes an owner overvalues his place and prices it beyond what it should be. Do your homework to make sure YOU get a good deal!

World Wide Selection of Places to Stay

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

Vacation Rental by owner or VRBO is an exciting tool to use for those travelers wanting more living space when they are away from home.  In many occasions places found through this website are more inexpensive than well-known hotels.

I have used VRBO in many occasions with great satisfaction. It is perfect for my family of 5 since we normally have to stay in two hotel rooms because we have teenagers. Now I just find a condo that fits my family comfortably for less money than two hotel rooms. Last month my family and I stayed in Paris for 10 nights and I used VRBO to get an apartment in a great location. Staying in a hotel would have been ver...

VBRO.com has some great properties at all price ranges

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

We recently used VBRO.com to find a great property in a prime resort in Mexico.  The site is well designed and easy to use.  The family that we dealt with was very responsive and trustworthy.  All around a good experience.

A more convenient manor of staying somewhere with family

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

I used VRBO for the first time last summer.  This came upon recommendation from a close friend who says she and her family have always used VRBO when they go on vacation.  They are a family of five.  I was trying to research places to stay when we were going to be in San Diego/ Oceanside, CA area.  I did not want to stay in a hotel because we had  a one year old.  And hotels seem to confine my son as to how much room he has to roam.  Also, I was looking for something with more than one room and that had a kitchen, that way we could at least eat breakfast there without spending too much money on the trip.  VRBO had a lot of choices to select from and ha...

VRBO is a great website for a needed vacation

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I stumbled across Vacation Rentals By Owner actually by mistake, but I have used ti many times to look at rental houses at various locations of family vacations.  The website is very easy to navigate and can be used very effectively and timely when looking for a place to stay.  I like the fact that you can narrow your search results by bedrooms, which can really be a time saver when you are looking for something that will accommodate an entire family.  I also like the fact that you can email or call the owners directly and they will get right back with you.  I have sent requests to homeowners several times and have had the owners either call me or email me back immed...

VRBO is the place to go to find your home away from home.

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I found VRBO several years ago while looking into the possibility of using a vacation rental instead of the traditional hotel.  Having a family of seven it is quite expensive for us to find a hotel that can accomodate our entire family in one room or suite.  I was surprised at the number of rentals available.  Also, it seems that they have rentals available in places that I truthfully was shocked to find.  The site is very user friendly, there are no surchages to renters and you can communicate entirely through their site if you want.  You are able to immediately look to see if a particular rental is available during your time frame as well as see a detailed list of ...

Orlando Vacation Rental: VRBO worked for us!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

The last two times we went to Disneyworld, we rented a house from Vacation Rental by Owner Online Service or VRBO. I had heard about the site from CyndiA, and thought I'd try them. We had such a great experience with them, we not only used them the next time we went to Florida but also when we went back East.

One of the main reasons I was looking at renting a house over staying in a hotel is that there would be seven of us. Most hotels hold four and a few up to six but it is very hard to find one that will take seven. This means we have to get two rooms, doubling our hotel cost.

The other reason was that with a house, we would have full kitchen access allowing us to cook our own m...
