Unexpectedly tasty cookies, very chewy, healthy, but still cooky

from Huntington Station, NY

Comments about Trader Joe's - Molasses Chews:

I like cookies, and I'm trying to stay away from them, too. These Trader Joe's cookies are dangerous to keep around the house, as they will cause you to go off your diet. So - don't leave them lying around in obvious places, as these not-so little morsels will be eaten.

The Trader Joe Molasses Chew cookie is not a small cookie. It's not a giant cookie, however, each cookie weighs in at about an ounce of cookie, there are only twelve of these thick and chewy cookies per bag. These cookies can be contained in the bag, the aroma does not escape the tight packaging. However, once a consumer opens the bag - watch out, as the ginger escapes, and will waft temptingly throughout a room.

These cookies are not cookies that a person is going to eat just one of, unless of course, the bag is wisely opened at a dinner party or in the office, at lunch time. Then, it's probably easy to feel as popular as the lunch truck for about five minutes, given just how yummy these cookies are.

I'm tired of macadamia nut cookies, of healthy bars, of cereal bars - reading the label on these Trader Joes' molasses chews, I can get iron, calcium, and vitamin a by way of eating a cookie. This is not advertising itself as health food, however, these cookies might be better for you than a few of the so-called "health" snacks.

Expect to eat the bag within a day or two of bringing the cookies home, so, don't worry about the idea that the cookies might go stale. Worry about packing on a few pounds from eating too many, or, worse yet, being unable to eat your usual brand of cookie after eating a few of these delights.
