Tobi Steamer Review Summary

Imagine having a clothing steamer that will knock out wrinkles without having to set up an ironing board and the iron. A handheld clothing steamer would be great, and that is what the Tobi steamer As Seen on TV purports – quick and easy steam ironing. Unfortunately steamer reviewers find that the Tobi steamer does not work nearly as well at home. To add insult to injury (like hand burns), customer service at Tobi ranges from awful to nonexistent.

concerned about safety, rude service offends me

The Tobi Steamer seems like a great product, as do most, when demonstrated on televsion.  However, customer service is poorly trained, argumentative and unresponsive to questions, concerns, emails and phone calls. —  The handle gets incredibly hot and forces me to stop my steaming because it burns my hands.  Sleeve creases are easy enough to do but steaming the bottom edge of  a garment is nearly impossible without burning your hands. — I did not receive the complete order and have emailed the company, once again, to no response.  I dread having to make… read full review »

rude service offends me

Wow!  I am extremely disappointed in the customer service, it sounds like this Tobi business is run out of someone's basement.  When I called to place the order, it sounded like the person who answered the phone just woke up or had to get out of bed to take the call.  Perhaps they should spend less money on advertising and more money on customer service and quality of product.  It took FOREVER to receive the item, and when you go to return the customer has to pay for shipping which was over $30, so not only was I disappointed, but I ended up losing the $30. … read full review »

I received this product and found that it did not put off enough steam at all. When held up to a shirt you could not see any steam come through the shirt at all. Apparently the one on TV is a different product. — — This product was given to me for a Xmas gift and when I decided NOT to keep it I called the company and obtained an RMA number and shipped the product back at MY COST and was not told of any time frame for the receipt. Now a month latter I call and they advised they canceled my RMA and are shipping the product back to me. — — So apparently I stuck… read full review »

It sounds good but unfortunately I found that the stand is very flimsy, it's impossible to steam the bottom of a garment, i.e. slacks, and the wrinkles don't come out like they do in the infomercial and despite following all directions, water dripped out and wet the garments. I just returned it after convincing their customer service representative that I did not want to keep trying it for another month and that I did not want a good deal on an air purifier. I am waiting for a credit to my… read full review »

I am debating sending this product back.  It does get out wrinkles but it gets so hot to your hands you have to wrap a shirt or towel around it in order to handle it.  If they are going to just send me another one that gets this hot it would not be worth getting it again.  I will just wrap a shirt around it to use… read full review »

This steamer doesn't work even CLOSE to what they show on their infomercial. Why I even thought it would is beyond me! — — I tried this on four or five different items and found that you had to go over and over the area many times to get even PART of the wrinkles out! I even tried it on a silk scarf and it did not work. — — VERY BAD! My advice is to spend a little bit more and buy a regular PROFESSIONAL/INDUSTRIAL garment steamer! The difference is like night and day! —… read full review »

I bought the TOBI a month ago, and since then-it has caused nothing but grief and pain. The first time I tried it, I had filled up the water tank. Next, I had proceeded to bring it out to the floor and steam some clothes. (Five times faster of course!) I turn it on, only to discover a massive puddle of water all over my hardwood floor. I had put it on a table, and wiped it all up, only to discover another pool of water on my table. After doing all this cleaning, I brang it upstairs to try it out on some pillows. (With a TOWEL under it this time) — By this time, I am angry enough with the… read full review »

Disappointed

The Tobi Steamer is extremely disappointing. It does not remove wrinkles well, and worst of all, it spits hot water onto the garment. One of their agents said their customer service line is for sales only. If you call to ask for help with the product once you have it, they can do little to help because they're not trained to troubleshot. After being on hold for a while, the agent returned to suggest that I clean the product according its manual. I did, and it continued to spit water onto the garment. It's brand new and since I only used distilled water with the unit, there shouldn't be… read full review »

The hand held Tobi did not work any like I thought it would. I didn't see any of the wrinkles on my clothes go away. The only thing the Tobi did was wet my clothes with steaming hot water. I tried it several times and followed the directions but it just wouldn't work. I can't wait to take it back to the… read full review »
