Easy to use, Great battery life

4

This phone is very durable and easy to use. The only thing that I dont like is the push to talk button is on the outside and I hit it all the time. The battery last well until you start taking a lot of pics. I think the pic quality could be a little bit better. It has many features and ringtones. I've had mine over a year  and I work construction and it's still working great.

Wow This phone is awful!!

This model from the Sony Ericsson line should make many people feel very bad about producing a phone of such poor quality.  I actually bought two of them a little less than a year ago and one of them has completely stopped working and the other is in the middle of a slow death.  Warning: when closing this phone it often turns completely off.  So if you have this phone I am very sorry :( But, if you are merely thinking of purchasing this phone I would steer clear of this one and look for something else.

A very reliable phone

This phone has been extramely reliable. I have been eligible to upgrade for almost a year but still hanging on to this one cause I dont see anything better at this time. I don't do the email or internet stuff, so the battery life is great for me, it lasts a couple of days at least. Its also small enough to carry in my pocket (I hate cell phones on the belt).

Screen turns black

2

It's cute, but can break easily. My first phone (currently using a 2nd one since I'm getting a new phone) screen turned black, and you couldn't see anything at all. We bought 3 for my sister, my brother, and for myself. My sister's cellphone's screen didn't work, and then later, the sound didn't work nor the vibration. My brother's was the screen. My current one is fine right now, but when I close my phone gently, it turns off by itself. So, it gets annoying. Also, my friend that use to have it, broke as well. This all happened when the warranty expired, and the 2nd week later, it happened. And I find the Push to Talk button(PTT), is very unneccesary. And its annoying when you open the phone and you see that option on the screen. But It's good as a free phone with a plan.

Super cute, does what a cell phone should!

When I was first reviewing the Sony Ericsson Z520a Cell Phone Cell Phone to decide if I wanted to buy it, I found quite a few reviews that said the camera quality wasn't top notch or that it wasn't texting friendly.  However, I just wanted a cell phone that would make phone calls, nothing too fancy.  So I choose this one and have been very happy with it - it makes phone calls, clear quality and that is all I needed it to do. I will admit that I picked this phone because it came in pink and I do enjoy that.  The other 'cute' feature is that it has flashing lights up the side that you can see when it is closed - when the cell rings the lights flash as well.  There are a ton of really cool light patterns that you can use and different people can be assigned different patterns.  Seems like it would be a cool feature for anybody hard of hearing. The one negative is that the battery life is pretty crappy.  With my old phone I could often go almost a week between charges since I really don't use it much, with this one the best I can get is 3 days.

Love the personality of the phone

For the most part I love my phone. I made my own ring-tone, take pictures and remind myself of upcoming appointments. Lately it's not keeping a charge and it's only 1 1/2 old but I don't want to replace it, I will wait til it dies! I absolutely love the light effects when it rings, I guess i'm east to please.

A decent phone with annoying habits.

When I bought this phone, I was impressed at first glance.  It looked special without being overly-complicated, had a nice LCD screen, and the capability for some great0-sounding ring tones.  After a few weeks of using this phone I became annoyed.  The "push to talk" feature has a button on the side of the phone that is majorly in the way.  The camera quality is nothing close to impressive, and the phone itself has a tendency to turn off on a whim (I was not the only person to experience this problem, a friend of mine with the same phone complained of this frequently as well).  In all, it is a DECENT phone, but if you can afford better, please do.

I like it very much

I have had this phone for 2 years. Overall, I think it is a good phone. The main problem is that, like most companies, you have to have a contract. I would like to own a newer version of this phone, but cant, without extending contract. This is an easy to use item. It is user friendly and fairly easy to set up and use. The camera is not the best and could be upgraded. If dropped, as in normal use, the screen will be ruined. Other phones I have had, had a better durability than this phone.

Overall a decent device, but the screens can go bad suddenly

3

Overall the Sony Ericson Z-520A is a reliable phone. I have not experienced very many dropped calls or poor service, but that probably has more to do with the service provider than the phone anyway. The keyboard is a little smaller than I would like, but it is more than functional for a person with average to somewhat large hands. I have noticed over the past couple of months that my phone will lock up suddenly when I am trying to place a call. Pressing the power button will not shut it down for a reboot. I have to remove the battery and replace it to cycle the power. This phone is almost 2 years old and is used probably an average of 4 hours per day total talk time. This happens once a week or once every two weeks. My daughter has the same phone. Her phone has been replaced twice due to the screen going bad. Even though you could not see the prompts, if you knew what buttons to push, you could still navigate the menus and use the phone. It was just very inconvenient to do so. I have no regrets in purchasing these phones. The reliability and performance is more than acceptable most of the time. And the few problems we have experienced are not that bad and they do not occur often enough to be a serious problem for us.
