Sanyo - Katana Cell Phone Review Summary

Multi- functional cell phones are all the rage these days and one phone that certainly continues this trend is the Sanyo Katana Cell Phone. This cell phone pleases its purchasers for many reasons, including the easy to read menus, the great sound quality, the quality of the pictures produced by the built in camera, and the GPS capability. Sanyo Katana Cell Phone is a “Good, Slim Cell Phone That is Not Slim on Features”, but some reviewers point out a few shortcomings with this phone, like the difficulty in sending a text message and the difficulty in hearing the ring tones. Still, if the color pink is your thing, then you might like the Sanyo Katana Cell Phone. It rates pretty highly among Cell Phones with a good degree of satisfaction among its owners.

Even though I work for a phone company, I have to say I'm extremely impressed with this phone. I have had several mobile phones over the years and this one is the best phone I have ever owned. I love it so much, I'm afraid to upgrade, even though a smartphone is in my future, I'm sure. I was… read full review »

I'll start off with the few things that I find detrimental to my enjoyment of the phone.  Firstly, as you may have heard, its maximum volume is insufficient in certain settings.  The vibration isn't altogether noticeable either, so you may miss a lot of calls depending on where you hang… read full review »

This phone is great. I'm so happy I bought it.  I wanted a navigation system but they were so costly I could never afford one. With the Katana I can hook up to the Novatel Navigation system for $10 a month and believe me it has paid for itself ten times over in the gas I've saved!  —  One of the few negative things about it is that it drops a lot of calls for me. — Also in numerous conversations my other party will say - are you there and cannot hear me and hangs up. I can hear them but they can't hear me. — The keypad is a good size and easy to use - I would… read full review »

I've had this cell phone since October of 2006. I was impressed by the slim design; It easily fits in a shirt pocket. I also like the fact that it folds out to a nice sized phone. Phone's Bluetooth feature works great with plantronics unit. I've had very few dropped calls - almost all of them have been due to dead spots (Always drops service in same area). — The camera is no match for my Nikon D50, but photo quality is better than most cellphones. Ringer volume could be louder and there is a mute switch that is easilly hit when talking on phone. There is an excellent speakerphone, and… read full review »

I love this phone! I am coming up on two years with it and haven't had any major problems at all. It's a great size and I love the black version, which looks very sleek. It has a big screen, which I LOVE. I wish it took better pictures though, they're pretty grainy. That's not a deal breaker for me though. I wish it had more speed dial numbers (only 9), I think most people are used to having a lot more. I like that it has regular phone rings, as I hate stupid ringtones. The battery doesn't last nearly as long as it should; after talking for 45 minutes I'm already down to 2 (out of 3) on the… read full review »

— With my previous cell phone I couldn't get any signal in my own apartment, so every time I wanted to speak on the phone at home, I would have to go outside.  With the katana that I have now, it completely eliminates that issue that I had, and I can even talk in the very low signal areas of my home.  The features of the phone are very convenient to locate and are very user friendly.  I love this phone and the pictures that it takes are really good quality for a camera on a phone.  The only downside is that it still had rudimentary data abilities as far as Internet… read full review »

I love this phone.  The only problem that I have with it, is I can only get it through Sprint.  All my family is on Cingular/ At&t.  I love my Katana.  I have the blue one and it is a wonderful phone.  I don't like that I can't take video with it, but the picture quality is pretty good.  The screen is a good size and I can take photos and use them for wallpaper on the outside screen and the inside screen.  If you are with Sprint you should try this phone out.  The pink is very pretty also. … read full review »

I have had this phone for over a year and it's still going strong (even though it's been dropped quite a few times)!  It's very sturdy for a flip phone and not made with cheap plastic that cracks like past phones I've had.  It has lots of features and is bluetooth enabled.  The camera on it takes amazing pictures (although with Sprint, you have to subscribe to their services to download them to your computer).  I love how slim it is and how it fits in my hand.  I have the blue one and I love the… read full review »

Thank you Sanyo for the Katana Cell Phone.  My cell has every option that I would need and love to use.  The camera feature allows me to catch the moment whenever it decides to arise.  The picture quality is good and the options are wonderful.  — All the other features and options leaves me mesmerised.  I love playing around with it when I am bored and the fabulous pink color suits my personality to a T! —  I can't wait to get the newer version. —… read full review »

Before I got the Katana phone by sanyo I tried 3 different phones.  I was searching for a reliable phone.  The other phones either dropped calls frequently or they failed to recieve them all together.  The man at the sprint store said to try the Katana.  I was skeptical I thought he was just trying to make a sale...I brought it home and tried it and I love it.  I have recommended this particular phone to several friends...even my mother.  —… read full review »

I've had about 6 different phones over the past couple of years and so far this one is my favorite.  The picture quality is awesome.  I've dropped my phone a million times and it's never missed a beat.  The main drawback to this phone though is the volume of the ringer.  Even on the highest setting the phone isn't that loud.  If you download a ringer the volume is even softer than the ones that come built in.  But overall, it's an excellent… read full review »

I'm a busy mother that works full-time. I need a cellphone that is compact and easy to use. The Katana fulfills these needs. It even looks great. The menus are self-explanatory and you can fumble your way around even if you're not techno savy. Even though I don't play the games on the phone, my seven year old granddaughter enjoys playing when she is bored or going on a car ride with me. This phone is a good buy. … read full review »

My daughter kept dropping my other Sprint phones and breaking them, it was driving me nuts because it was my work phone. One of her friends had a Katana that he wasn't using and said we could have it. I love it because it is so slim and not as easily breakable when my daughter drops it. The only problem I have with it is that the ringer isn't loud enough to catch my attention when I'm… read full review »

Great phone...especially since it's often the "freebie" when you renew your service plan!!! I've dropped it on concrete, into a puddle, into snow -- and it just keeps working! Very tough little phone. Decent picture quality and easy to navigate. Sound quality during call is quite good. Very little echo like I've had w/ other cells. And, I love that it's… read full review »

I have had mutlpiple phones that I have many problems with service since I live slightly in the boon docks and my boyfriend is completely in the boons - I have to say though this has been the best phone for reception I have ever owned.
