I did a lot of web searching before I bought the blackjack. There many options and of course the iphone. But comeon , i bought the blackjack for free after some rebates while the iphone. because of the windows mobile os i found many free stuff to put on it. avantgo to read the news, the microsoft streets for maps and pocketnester plus for games. especially the last one is great. i have like 50-60 games on my phone and online i found more than 500 games. FYI pocketnester is an emulator and lets you play ns games on the cell phone. the camera is nice. I bought an extra micro sd card and can record so many photos and videos. the quality at night is bad and that is where a flash would have been nice. other problems? the keyboard is small so push the wrong buttons all the time. but i got used to it. my alarm got stuck so i have to go back to the store and see what is wrong. i forgot to tell you , now they give you an extended battery on top of the regular battery. i wish it had wi-fi also and also a head phone output. i store all these mp3s and hate the bluetooth for listening to them. you can store even movies and watch later on. oh about the wi-fi you can buy an sd wifi card but there because the blackjack uses microsd you cant. not available yet in usa. the summary of all these is that i like the phone but they could have done a better job and i wouldnt mind paying more that.

Its small, and cool looking, but once you get past that, there isn't much there. The buttons are so small I kept mistyping, the browser makes it hard to leave the Cingular "walled garden", and the earphone plug is proprietary (and they don't include headphones with the phone.)

Also, the only way to get it to sync with a Mac is to buy third party software, put the phone in "airplane mode" ie "no phone service", and then sync it. Which is expensive, annoying, and mean you can't use the phone as a modem with your Mac.

Its a great idea, but a miss. I'm waiting (and saving!) for the iPhone.

Can you hear me now?

By

from Winterville, GA

Comments about Samsung Blackjack Smartphone:

A friend of mine wanted to get rid of their Samsung Blackjack.  They gave it to me, because I had wanted to be able to syncronize with my Microsoft Outlook contact list.  I tried this phone out for about 2 months and still use it occasionally to make sure that I give the Samsung Blackjack a fair shake.  It consistently drops calls and is often very difficult to use.  The Samsung Blackjack lights up, but never stays lit long enough to be able to bypass a greeting on anyone's voicemail box.

The Samsung Blackjack is also menacing to me due to the power adapter.  The wires in the power adapter are very small and very flexible and the insulation around them is very thin which causes it to break quite easily.  When my friend wanted to get rid of his Samsung Blackjack, I should have assumed that his reasoning was a good reason for me to know want the device.  I wanted to try the Samsung Blackjack, and now I am glad that I did not spend my money on this device.

another samsung bad product

By

from Brooklyn, NY

Comments about Samsung Blackjack Smartphone:

I am not a big fan of samsung, but their designs on phones always catches my attention and i am a fool for falling into their trap of a crappy phone again. The samsung blackjack comes with an extended battery, which is a plus if you are a mobile internet user. I had this phone for nearly 2 year and after a long time of use the charging part of the phone will not work, luckily it came with an alternative battery charger (it's like the samsung company knew beforehand that the charging part will break) and it had been over a year so my warranty did not cover it. The buttons on the phone is too close together, me, not being the biggest person also encountered this problem. I mainly used this phone for texting and it was alright, i liked the feature that when you type in the recipient name, it will automatically punch in the recipient 's number. This is a window's mobile phone and it can play music, i did not like that it did not have a regular headphone jack, you had to buy a headphone set from the samsung company. Too bad this phone isn't a touch screen phone, it may look like one but it isn't.

AWESOME

By

from Paxinos, PA

Comments about Samsung Blackjack Smartphone:

This is a superior, awesome phone that I just purchased from Verizon.  The price of the phone was unbelieveable.  It has many different items to do with the phone such as picture taking, email, web usage, alarm clock and many other different items.  I love the choice of using the flip phone two different ways.  One you can use when you are calling and individual and the other you can use when you are texting or surfing the web.  This is one of the items that I really like about this cell phone. I also like the aspect of the alarm clock on the phone and that the battery stays charged for 3-4 days at a time for me so I don't have to constantly be recharging the phone. The other favorite aspect of this phone is that of the speaker phone, so when I am driving I don't have to hold the phone to talk...I just use the speaker aspect.  I hope they come out with another brand of this phone because i will definitely buy this type of phone again.

Samsung BlackJack-Love It!!!

By

from Jonesboro, AR

Comments about Samsung Blackjack Smartphone:

I absolutely love my Samsung BlackJack from AT&T.  It was a very user friendly phone since it was Windows based.  I loved having the full keyboard and the ability to upload Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint documents.  The only negative thing that I would say about it is the internet is slow.  It would take forever for pages to load.  That is the reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5.  it might have been my mobile internet, I'm not sure.

I would never purchase another phone but the samsung blackjack.

By

from Theriot, LA

Comments about Samsung Blackjack Smartphone:

I have owned and used my samsung blackjack for over 3 years now. I have never had any trouble with it. I've dropped it many many times, I've even dropped it in a full glass of water. Even after being soaked in a glass of water my blackjack still works perfectly. I always have great reception. I never have dropped calls. The full keyboard is awesome for texting. The web browser is great!! I can log on to any site I wish. I can do online banking, pay my bills online, chat on yahoo, aol or windows live IM. My eight year old daughter can easily play games, text, call people, use just about any aspect of the blackjack with little help from me. I use the calender for appointments and it reminds me when I have something scheduled. I can set up to ten different alarms each having the option of repeating once, daily, everyday except weekends or everyday except sundays. I do not have an extra media card to hold music, yet I have never ran out of memory and I have over a hundred songs on my phone. I would recommend the samsung blackjack to anyone that wants a phone with no hassle included.

The Samsung Blackjack is an awesome phone for texting and web.

By

from Nashville, IN

Comments about Samsung Blackjack Smartphone:

The Samsung blackjack is an awesome phone. It is kinda big, but offers a full keyboard and large screen. It has pretty good reception in my area and fast web browsing. The full keyboard also makes texting easy. The buttons are small, but big enough to push just one (without pusing 2-3 at the same time). I also love the wheel on the side that makes scrolling on web pages so much easier. That was probably my favorite feature of this phone. I also really loved the rubbery cover it had that made it easier to grip and gave protection when it dropped. It is a very durable phone. The only thing that I did not like is my battery wouldn't hold charge after about a year, but I was just able to buy another one fairly inexpensively so it was not a big problem. This phone also had good games and the ability to download new games and ringtones. I highly recommend this phone to someone who wants more than just a phone, but to be able to easily text and browse the web.

This phone is great!

By

from Hollywood, FL

Comments about Samsung Blackjack Smartphone:

I have been an AT&T customer for my entire cell phone consumer life, beginning in 2002.  I have had many phones, and I had one of the first with an actual keyboard.  It was one that slid open halfway to use the keyboard.  After that phone, I was looking for an affordable phone that had all the features I wanted to include, as I stated before, a keyboard, internet capabilities, and a great screen.  I found all of this in the Samsung Blackjack.  Not to mention that I am an avid blackjack player, this phone was cool and unique.  I normally hated cell phones with cameras because they weren't any good, but this was the first camera phone that I had seen that was not an unusually bad camera.  It isn't the best, but it is much better than the ones I had seen before.  Everyone that saw my new phone thought it was the coolest thing they had seen and it has been that way ever since.  Even since the iPhone has come out, people still think my phone is really cool and useful, and so do I!

This phone is slow!!!!

By

from Oklahoma City, OK

Comments about Samsung Blackjack Smartphone:

This phone is very slow when it comes to deleting text messages. I only had a hundred of them and it took almost five munites to delete. The camera picture quallity is horrid. No matter how steady your hand is, the pictures always come out blurry. However, the phone is a trooper. It refuses to break. I have dropped this phone so many times because I am a huge cluts and it has always started right back up again as if nothing happened to it in the first place. The reception on this phone is very poor. I work at Southwest Medical Center and I always lose reception in the elevator (which usually happens to everyone) as well as random places on my floor. Sometimes, I have to hold the phone up to the ceiling in order to get just one bar. It's a little hard to talk to someone when the phone is an arm length away from your mouth and ear. I would rate this phone a 4 but then again, it is an old version of the Black Jack. Thank you.

Not all that great, not that shabby

By

from Tulsa, OK

Comments about Samsung Blackjack Smartphone:

I have been using the Samsung Blackjack for a little over a year now and I would say it's a pretty acceptable cell phone. It has many great applications for those who use extra features like the internet (to use email) and so forth.

It has all the basics that most other phones have such as a calculator, a stop watch, notes, and a calendar. It has Bluetooth which a great deal of people use. It has the speaker phone function which is great and you can really turn the volume of the phone up pretty loud. There are no problems hearing the person on the other end. Also, the signal strength of the phone is pretty good too. It really has great software.

On the other hand, it really has horrible battery life and the buttons are so close together that a mojority of the time I'm constantly typing and re-typing text messages. It's not a flip phone it is flat and sleek. As for the camera application, well it is slow to adjust and you might get poor focused shots. And the last thing I find wrong with it, is that it freezes sometimes.

BlackJack Wonders

By

from Rogers, AR

Comments about Samsung Blackjack Smartphone:

I love my BlackJack phone from AT&T. When I first had a hold of this phone, I could hardly put it down. I love the features, the functions, and the versatility of the phone. You can put this in lock so the buttons won't go crazy and haywire. I love the picture quality that the phone takes. Speaking of the camera feature, other features include a camcorder, ringtone features, bluetooth, internet access, games, calculator, texting, video texting, picture texting, calendar, phone book, and the list goes on and on. As my contract is coming to an update, all of my friends are telling me to get an iPhone. As awesome and that sounds, it is going to be hard to get rid of my BlackJack for an iPhone. For those who are thinking about getting a BlackJack, it is a real professional looking phone with amazing features. This would be the perfect work phone for many users out there. It will be hard for me to put my BlackJack away for an iPhone, but I have had such good memories with this. Until next time, peace, love, and AT&T.
