Terrible Support

I've bought a lot of parts from Rock Auto. Their prices are cheap but one reason is that they don't give any technical support and terrible customer support in general. First of all, there's no provision on their website for even asking a question and if you do figure out how to get in touch with them they know so little about what their selling that they can't tell you what color their black distributor caps are. Another time they shipped me the wrong part in the right box. Their initial response was that return shipping was my responsibility because they didn't make a mistake. It was like pulling teeth to get them to agree that I didn't make a mistake either and their issue should be with their supplier. I'm done with them.

Won't buy rock auto parts again.

Rock auto refuses to refund money on a part I bought in good faith. Part causes engine to go to high idle and stay there. Should be 800 rpm but I got 3000-4000. Tried rebooting computer no help. Even though the resistance measurements of the sensor were different than original part I tried it. Now Rock won't refund.

NON-EXISTENT CUSTOMER SERVICE

I purchased (4) Shock Absorber's and they arrived quickly. I installed the first 3 without any issue. Due to the Corrosion in the North East, I was forced to "CUT" the shocks off of my truck in the Front to facilitate the replacement. When I opened the Box for the 4th Shock, I noticed that "MONROE" mis-boxed the shock and I received a 34529 instear of a 34520 and they are completely incompatible for the application (Front vs Rear) (again, this was NOT ROCKAUTO's fault). I went to call them and discovered that you had to do the return on-line without any Customer Service. The Descriptions said they would ship it out as soon as it entered the FEDEX System. I quickly boxed it up, labeled it and watched it put into the hands of a FEDEX EMPLOYEE. I then called their phone number and was treated with such disrespect, ZERO CARE for Customer Service and told that he was going to "TERMINATE THIS CALL". I told him that I was forced to "CUT THE SHOCK OFF" and I can not safely drive the vehicle without a Shock and then I asked him how can I get the CORRECT SHOCK mailed out today as I have done everything asked of me and he again told me he was going to TERMINATE THE CALL.... LESSON LEARNED = If you get the Correct Parts (as I have numerous times before) it works well and you can save a lot of money. If you get the Wrong Part, you are at the Mercy of a Computer and you can hope and pray they send out the right part the 2nd time around.

Complete Fraud

RockAuto.com company is fraud. Sent me the wrong parts and claim I have to pay restocking and reshipping and still they tell me they won't give me any refund. Complete fraud! Checked the compatibility of my vehicle with parts even and they still sent the wrong parts claiming it was my mistake for ordering them even though the site said they were compatible. They are trying to claim I do not want the parts as the reason for a return but this is also fraud as they sent me the absolute wrong parts to fit my vehicle. Of course I don't want them when RockAuto sent the wrong parts, I shouldn't have to pay for their mistakes but they are claiming I have to because they obviously don't care about customers as they keep hanging up on me claiming they have talked to me and explained to me everything, but all they did was keep blaming me for their website's error.

I will not bore anyone with the details, but only echo most of the reviews you will find online for Rock Auto. I gave the a try. They failed miserably. They don't have anything I can't buy at a dozen other places locally and be treated with respect. Next time I will.

Longtime rockauto customer

Recently placed another order w/rockauto, and have bought from them numerous times in the past, as I have 5 vehicles (my car,her car, older truck,'classic car',and the motor home)plus my sisters vehicles as well, so I've bought a lot of parts,sometimes w/orders $400+ {$200+ for this last one}. so placed a order, it kept trying to move me to higher shipping, finally got it sorted out, it gave me a price total, then checked out, price had jumped $10+, gave in and accepted the new higher priced as I had enough time used on it already and checked out. Got a msg. showing they grabbed money from my account right away from a bank alert (used to not charged till ready to ship) that was even higher than my checkout page! Then got an 'Order Confirmation' from them showing a $5+ increase from my checkout page, called rock the following day, and got "Joe" who was very rude and condescending, and not very knowledgeable about the parts or the order, and who actually stated "do you have screenshots?", who takes screenshots while they're ordering! Never have before as places don't change the price total on me..ironically I do print out the 'order confirmation' page a place sends to keep track of my orders for myself, but never as I'm checking out! Then he rushed me off the phone and was downright rude about it too! saying "I don't have time to talk about this" isn't that what customer service is for? Have noticed a big change in this company in the past 2 yrs., starting when they sent me the wrong parts and then said it was my fault even though the part numbers didn't match what was ordered!, don't know what's happened but have to let people know, as I used to brag about them to people, and get asked a lot about parts as I've always worked on my own vehicles. There are other places on the web much better, and even cheaper now.

2 days after ordering parts was informed that they would not arrive by fedex for another week. Slowest parts delivery I've experienced from any online parts supplier. Don't bother calling customer service for an explanation. They'll just lay the blame on you for not paying for expedited shipping.

Will never buy from again!

Ordered Dorman Parking / Turn Signal Lamp Assembly for my truck. The website picture and description were correct. When they arrived, they were the wrong color. I was told that they do not warrant the part matching the pictures. I had to eat the shipping, both ways! Stupidly, I ordered replacements through RockAuto again. This time the parts were from different manufacturers, visibly different and not from Dorman! Customer service told me that the parts were Dorman, but they would accept a return of a single lens. Once they received the return, they would reship the matching part. When I asked to return both for a full credit, they told me that only one was incorrect so that was not an option. I will never buy from RockAuto again!

bad customer service if things go wrong

great prices but very hit or miss on the prodcut descriptions - I ordered a part base don the description that should have fit my vehicle, but didnt and they ABSOLUTELY REFUSED to take any blame for their horrible description - resulting in me being charged shipping both ways to return the part. After customer service like that I told them they'd lose me as a customer for ever and they didnt bat an eyelid

Just a warning to potential buyers. I ordered 12 items on April 22th via the cheapeast consolidated shipping option, only received one. RockAuto refunded the 11 other items, and charged me a 62% more expensive Fedex option on the received item despite me requesting and paying for the cheapest consolidated option. This jacks the price of my single item to more than what I would pay locally. When requesting the difference (Fedex minus cheaper consolidated shipping), they are no longer replying to my emails. This was my last purchase at RockAuto.
