Etsy.com Review Summary

Ordinary goods are easy enough to find, but if you’re the type who likes products with artistic flare, then you should visit Etsy.com. This online store features thousands of hand- made products offered for sale by ordinary people from all across the land and reviewers like the unique and innovative products that can be found at Etsy.com, as well as its penchant for exposing the undiscovered talents of artistic individuals. Reviewers feel that Etsy.com offers "One of a Kind, Original Hand Made Goods" and they like the fact that Etsy.com offers a place to sell one's products, making it similar to Ebay in this respect. Other then the tendency of some items to be a tad overpriced, Etsy.com is a great Shopping Web Site that reviewers recommend very highly.

Etsy.com was introduced to me by a stylist and good friend, Taryn Bickley. (Check out her site: http://www.tarynbickley.com/) As an independent stylist herself, Taryn is all about supporting up and comers. So am I. Etsy is the perfect spot to find beautiful creations by undiscovered talent.

So I tell my fashion-minded friend Taryn that I'm in the market for the perfect summer tote. As any true girlfriend and style diva should, she emailed me a list of several selections she thought would fit my style and personality. Many of her tote recommendations were products on Etsy. I ended up buying one...

Etsy.com is a great on-line marketplace to find unique, handmade items.

Purchasing:

There are stores for everything: jewelry (large variety in this category), baked goods (think fudge and cookies), other foods like bbq sauces and spices, household items like candle holders and clothing for everyone in the family. You can find pretty much anything you are looking for and help out a crafter in one purchase. There is also a section where you can put your custom request along with the price you are willing to pay and crafters bid on your project. Great if you are looking for a unique gift for someone...

Etsy is a feast for the eyes and fuels the creative spirit!

I, as an artist and art shopper alike, was thrilled when a friend told me about Etsy.  I like Ebay, but I believe that on Ebay, handmade, quality artwork gets lost-in-the-sauce with all of the other stuff on there.  I also think it gets a bit devalued because Ebay is a place for bargains.  Etsy is a place for art.  Sellers on Etsy can charge reasonable prices for their vision and work and are helped by the fact that others are selling and pricing items in the same genre....everyone is charging fair (not to high, not low) prices for...

Etsy is a site for people who make their own merchandise. I generally browse through the jewelry but there is a huge variety. It's easy to buy and sell on this site. I have an etsy store, though I have not tried to sell anything yet. I like to go on to look for gifts, such as nice soaps. There are so many creative ideas that make your gift so personal! You can also contact people if you like their style to see if they'll work with you to create something new.

Warning! I just want to state that I am affiliated with Etsy.com by having an online shop through them.

I love to paint and make jewelry in my spare time. Being a full time mom, I wanted to look for something I could do from home to put a little extra income in my pocket. I happened to turn on the Today Show one morning in the middle of a segment about finding home décor on a budget. They mentioned a couple of sites that I decided to do my own research on and I found them to be so great that I enlisted my items for sale on those sites! One of which I am reviewing here. . .

   Etsy.com is...

In Jan. of this year I discovered a site called ETSY. It is similar to an auction/sales site. On Etsy your dont have to bid and prices are clearly posted on all items in all shops. You can find anything that can be handmade for sale here, or the supplies to make your creations come to life!

But etsy is so much more than a place to shop. There are forums and learning labs. There are chat rooms and news articles. I learn something new about this site everytime I log on! I can't tell you how excited I am to see whats new here!

I recently started selling my own items on Etsy and it has been such...

I sell my own work here, or at least it's listed here, just haven't made any sales yet.  But it has "great" artwork/artists if you're looking for a special gift or artwork to hang in your home.  It's easy to list your own work and VERY affordable.  I can get lost in this site soooo easily, just surfing through all the wonderful artists' work!  I highly recommend it to both buyers and sellers of art.

My first Etsy (www.etsy.com) experience:

My sister told me about this fantastic website when I was in dire need of the perfect gift; I needed a Christmas present for our other sister who is incredibly particular and very green.  She likes recycled glass jewelry and handmade pieces with a lot of personality, and I was afraid that I would be spending through the roof to get something that actually came off a machine.

I was wrong!  When I started to explore Etsy, I was totally amazed to see the breadth and quality of the products on the website.  Not only do they have handmade jewelry, but...

Etsy.com has got to be one of the best places for crafters and artists of nearly any type of item to sell their items on-line.  The site is a conglomeration of nearly any type of crafted item you can think of including vintage items!  I sell vintage items, my handcrafted items and crafting supplies on etsy as well as another large auction website (can you guess which one? lol) and I have better results selling on Etsy than I do with the other place!  And Etsy costs less in the long run and the community is just great!  The forums are a wealth of information for new sellers.  If you are... review »

Etsy offers handmade goods, such as clothing, greeting cards, photography, paintings, etc. It is nice to know that your are getting something that is basically one of a kind. Many of the items listed are very affordable for unique pieces, but some do lean on the more pricey side. So if your a bargain hunter like me this may not be the first site you want to look up when looking for clothing.

Ah, Etsy. My very favorite place to browse online! I have been in love since day one with this site. It's overflowing with the very best from the art world, and there are so many things to look at!

Etsy is easy to use, I sometimes use the search feature if I'm looking for a particular item, or I also love to browse through the treasury. Seeing what other people love on Etsy is especially fun! When purchasing items, the checkout is easy and fast, and communicating with sellers is easy using the conversation feature.

Selling on Etsy is easy too! The fee's are small (especially compared to some...

I haven't ordered anything yet, but I definitely will.

I can spend hours just looking at the beautiful listings; these people are so talented!

I think Etsy brings BEST of the flea-market and craft bazaar right to your fingertips, without having to look at a billion orange and pea-green handknitted pom-pom hats :D

Possibly one of the best things about this site is if you are handy/crafty/artsy yourself, you can get a billion ideas to try and duplicate yourself.  I don't think this will prevent sales from happening on this site because I KNOW there are things on this site I could never duplicate -...

I heard about this site through my sister about a year and a half ago.  I never thought that I would love it so much!  I have gotten things handmade for me that I couldn't get anywhere else.  Whatever you want you can post it in one of the forums and get whatever you want made by professionals!  The work that some of these people do is outstanding.  There are crafts on here I never even thought about until I went on this site.  Everytime I go on this site I look for things to buy!

Best site ever!
Nothing better than something handmade!!!!

Etsy.com is great for customers, with unlimited choices; but as a seller, I have not had any success because I do not have a great way to advertise.  SO many things are put on etsy, that if yours is not seen while it's on the 'what's new' list, it may never be rediscovered, unless you personally have a way to advertise to those who would want to buy your products.  Etsy would be better if there were a more detailed way to categorize and find what is there. Rather than just a "beaded" section, why not divide it by kinds of beads?  Leave that option open, so that items will be more likely to be... review »

The great thing about Etsy is not only are you supporting talented people, but you're also buying items that are unique. You know you won't run into someone else on the street with the same purse or skirt or necklace that you purchased from Etsy! It's fun to type into the search engine something that you like - for example, Alice in Wonderland - and then see all of the different, creative things available online that feature Alice. I have a lot of fun just browsing and seeing all of the great things available. Plus, it's inspirational - you see so many neat items, you can't help but want to get...
