Most HelpfulI got a new RCA HD50LPW175 Scenium TV in 2006. I hardly ever used it because of a busy lifestyle. After two years I could not turn on the set. All that happened was the blue lights in front flashed five times and the set would not come on. The trouble shooting section in the manual stated that...
review »RCA SCENIUM DLP HDTV. I'VE OWNED FOR 3 YEARS, STARTED MAKING A BUZZING OR "WHISTLING' NOISE AND THE PICTURE WENT OUT.
I WAS TOLD BY RCA TECHNICAL SUPPORT THE PROBLEM WAS THE LAMP. REPLACED LAMP ($190) STILL NO PICTURE.
AN AUTHORIZED RCA REPAIR COMPANY INFORMED ME THAT WITH NORMAL USE THERE ARE SEVERAL ELECTRICAL PARTS THAT "BURN OUT"
SERVICE AND PARTS AROUND $1000.00
CONSUMER BEWARE.
RCA "CUSTOMER SERVICE" CLAIMED NO KNOWLEDGE OF REPAIR PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS UNIT.
The RCA 50" hdtv is the worst purchase I think I have made. First the bulb explodes, but the bulb is not under warranty, then the color wheel burns out around $500 later the tv worked again, now the color wheel has burned out again 9 months after the the other one was installed. I called RCA since its not under warranty (this all began when the warranty ran out)" they can't help me, I need to take it in and get it fixed" my question was will I have to buy a new wheel every 9 months? They can not guarantee parts. I think I have a $2,000 paperweight. I feel like I pouring way to much money...
review »I will never buy another RCA. The TV broke after 5 months and was repaired 4 times by them. The warranty went out waiting for parts. They do not stand by 1 year warranty and after 3 years of writing and calling them they offered me a 3 year old model that was not available anywhere for sale as it was sitting in their warehouse...not even on ebay. I fought them myself and got a refund after 3 years.
THE RCA SCENIUM DLP HD TV HAS BEEN THE BEST INVESTMENT IVE MADE IN A WHILE. MY MOTHER HAS THIS TV WHEN I SEEN IT I ASKED WHERE SHE GOT IT AND HOW MUCH IT WAS. AND MY MOTHER COULDNT REMEMBER HOW MUCH IT WAS BUT I QUICKLY GOT ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND ONE AND WITHIN A COUPLE OF PAYS I HAD SAVED UP ENOUGH TO GET MY OWN (WELL I GOT IT FOR MY HUSBANDS BIRTHDAY BUT ITS MINE ) . WE LOVE THIS TELEVISION SO MUCH WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF BUYING NEW FOR EACH ROOM WE HAVE TVS IN.
We purchased this TV almost two years ago, and it has been awesome.
We compared the picture to the other TVs in the store, many of which were in the $3-4k range. This TV was easily the best of the bunch and surprisingly the price was under $2k.
This TV is also HDMI capable, so you can play videos on your computer and view them on the TV screen.
The user interface is very easy to understand and the manual is very thorough.
