Never Saw A Puppy That Didn't Love It!

4

From time to time I get asked to foster a puppy or two that's considered special needs to needs to be socialized. My veterinarian will tell me if there are any dietary restrictions that I need to know about, if they can eat just about anything I will get them a mid grade puppy food to make sure they are getting all the nutrition they need. Even though this is costs more than other bagged dry dog food, I have yet to come across a puppy that doesn't like the taste of it. Most of the time I give them two servings a day; the morning serving is dry and the evening serving has a little bit of canned or refrigerated food added to it for taste. I have only seen this in two different size bags; I get the smaller seven pound one because I usually have no idea how long a puppy (or puppies) is going to be with me. If there's left over kibble I will add it to my other dogs food or put it in their KONG toys so they can enjoy it that way. The only time I would consider buying one of the larger bags is if there would be more than one puppy to foster or I would be keeping one for more than a month. It is a little cheaper to get the large bag but there's no sense in buying it if you aren't going to be able to make use of the whole thing.

My go to puppy food option for young dogs.

3

This is my choice for puppies. Its my favorite option so far. I've used it with 2 puppies. Its usually the cheapest option but is always fresh. I trust this brand and the quality that comes with it. I would use it again for any future puppies. I've even donated a few bags to the local shelter I volunteer at. If your unsure what to go with id give this a try. I'm not a huge believer of fancy foods as they are almost all about the same as long as you can trust the quality and the dogs like it thats good enough for me. Quality of Ingredients The quality seems good, it always comes out of the bag fresh, theres never a problem when it comes to that. Most of my puppies come out of the shelter or foster care and this new food to them is never a hard sell. They pick up on it right away and I assume its a huge upgrade to what there used to. Flavor Selection There is a very limited selection of this specific type for puppies. I've only actually seem this one and nothing else. If you go to a pet store and not a walmart there could be other options but the puppies love it so its no problem.

Used this food until we talked to our vet...

The price of this food was great for us but that was really about it...after much debate we decided to get a puppy from a local breeder, she told us this is what she had been feeding the puppies in his litter so obviously this is the food we too decided to buy for him. Once we went to our vets office and were told this was essentially the equivalent to humans eating food that was the quality a step below the bottom fast food chains we checked the "baneful" ingredients in this food, grabbed a bag of a much better brand and dumped this when we got home...I am not sure that this food would have necessarily been "bad" for our puppy but from a little research and seeing the ingredients we decided it really wasn't good enough for him either. We didn't have any problems with him while eating Beneful but he only had it for a few weeks before we switched him and he has been wonderful ever since!

My puppy loves Beneful!

5

We have had our puppy for about a year now, and he has made it obvious that he prefers Beneful. After giving him Beneful puppy food for the first few months, we switched to a less expensive brand. He refused to eat the less expensive brand at first, and then when he got hungry enough he eventually ate it. With Beneful his stools looked healthy, but with the less expensive brand he had hard dry stools probably because of the higher corn content. Not only does my dog seem to prefer this brand because of the taste, I think that the appearance and smell of the dog food is more pleasing to me as compared with other dog foods. I know that appearance is just for the owners benefit, but I am thankful for that. I hate to serve some dog foods because of the strong odor and they just look unappealing so I am happy that the manufacturers have taken that into consideration. Beneful is a little bit more expensive than some brands, so I don't buy it all the time. However, when it is on sale for a comparable price I prefer it over any other brand because my dog seems to love it and it keeps him healthy.

Tasty dog food

We introduced our puppy with Beneful puppy kibbles when she was 6 months old. She is a terrier mix and has lots of energy so gets hungry often. She did not like the wet food all that much but when I mixed it with Beneful puppy kibbles she took to the taste and later we took off wet food completely. She has been having this dog food since then and now she is 3 years old. I have tried several times to change her to Beneful for adult dogs but she has just stuck to the puppy formula. I don't mind it as it is giving her a lot of nutrition. However many people say that wheat is not good for dogs and this product contains wheat so if you have a dog who has skin allergy then you might want to steer clear of this one. The price is quite reasonable and the best part is it is available at the grocery stores and I do not have to exclusively make a trip to pet store to but the food. The kibbles are small and chewy as against other foods where the kibbles are so hard to bite down. My dog just love the taste of this product and just would not give it up.

A very nutritious and tasty puppy food

We feed our four month old beagle/border collie mix Beneful Healthy Growth for Puppies everyday and not only does he love it but he looks great. His coat is soft and shiny, he has lots of energy, and he's growing like a weed. Even our eight year old coonhound wants the puppy food and he's a very picky eater. The price is not bad for the quality of the food.

Dogs love the taste but slowed them down

3

We tried Beneful to see if we could find a less expensive food that would not upset our dogs stomachs. One of our dogs has a very sensitive stomach and has been on Science Diet sensitive stomach most of her life. They liked the taste and there were no issues with vomiting or diarrhea like we had with other lower price foods, but after about 3 weeks to a month of feeding this food we noticed our playful puppies only wanted to sleep. This was a huge change from our normally high spirited dogs. These dogs are 7 and 8 years old and LOVE to play normally, but not on this food. Within a week or so of putting them back on Science Diet they were back to normal running around like puppies. I would not recommend using Beneful as a full time food for your dog. If you are having a hard time getting them to eat a healthier version, mixing this in may help them get more interested in eating again, but you should watch their energy level to see if they are having any negative responses to this food.

My big puppy loves his Beneful Puppy Chow!

5

My 9 month old puppy LOVES Beneful Puppy Chow. I bought this brand when it went on sale at the local supermarket, and I think my dog was really glad I did. As soon as I finished pouring it into his bowl, he began to devour it (each time, not just the first time I gave it to him). I have read that it is healthier than most other dog food brands, too, so that also made me feel good about giving it to him. Now that I have run out, and returned to his normal (less expensive) brand of puppy food, he will stare at his bowl before eating to see if I will add anything to it....hopefully more Beneful?!? I wish it were not so expensive because I would like to give it to him all the time seeing how much he enjoys it, but the budget just won't allow it right now. I'll just have to keep my eyes open for another sale.

My puppy loves Beneful

We got a new puppy and read everything we were supposed to read, inlcuding the recommendations to use a dog food that lists a meat as the first ingredient.  So we bought Iams.  And my dog was barely eating, it took forever to get through that bag!  We visited some family whose dogs ate Beneful and we could not keep our puppy out of it.  Pros: puppy loves taste, reasonably priced Cons: gives dog horrible doggy farts, seriously. The other reviewer stated her dogs were getting fatter, I would agree - but I really think it is because dogs are eating more, the dog just did not like the Iams and barely touched it.  Beneful is even more appealing to look at.  The poops are a bit different.  I don't know if I agree that the first listed ingredient has to be meat - my dog loves vegetables and she loves this food.  There was some gas when we first changed foods, but it seems to have subsided.  We will be sticking with this food.

It gave my pupy a beautiful shiny coat and good health...

For the first 2 years of her life I gave my puppy Beneful she has a beautiful healthy and shiny coat and 7 beautiful puppies.  Beneful gave her the energy to take care of and play with her puppies Beneful also gave her plenty of milk for the puppies and when they were old enough to eat it, it gave them almost too much energy  lol...  Beneful has made my little family of dogs very healthy, very energetic, and very happy!!!
