Palm Treo 700w Smartphone Review Summary

The community is somewhat split on Palm’s brushed sliver Treo 700w Smart Phone. While one reviewer praised the Treo 700w, stating “I really like the interactive nature of the phone. It is quick to hook up to the internet, I have it sync to my business account for outlook (calendar and contacts and mail) and use internet for my personal account.” But other reviewers chastised the device complaining that the unit was faulty in design, build, and functionality. The small and lightweight Windows-CE powered Treo 700w combines a phone with wireless email, built-in web browser, (native) support for Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and PDF documents. A full QWERTY keyboard and color touch-screen round out the Treo 700w’s feature and functional suite. I traded out my cell for the TREO once I was able to do so. I have had a bit of an adjustment period just transitioning from cell to smart phone. As I adjust, I find the things I miss most are things which I can do with the TREO, I just have not taken the time to learn how to do them (voice command and...

Like most people who work in the computer field I carry a PDA and a separate cell phone.  Carrying both especially when you are on call 24x7 becomes a necessity.  I entered into my last cell phone contract with Cingular Wireless, now a part of AT&T, two years ago last week and I could wait for it to... read full review »

i thought this phone would be great... and i'm sure it is, if you don't mind not only carrying with you at all times your address book, your camera, your phone.. and your keyboard.  that's how i feel about this thing. like i'm carrying them all around all the time.  it does't fit in my pocket, looks ridiculous in a holster on my hip, and isn't even all that user friendly- the keys are too small to text quickly, and i just plain don't like it!

The phone was an okay phone but there where alot of smalls things that needed to be fixed. The phone did not support picture mail and you have to delete the file that comes with your text messages so that the phone will not start working slow. some of the desirable applications you might want for your phone make the phone work slow and it will eventually begin to freeze. The camera does not have a flash option and the pictures are poor quality

I've seen the good and bad side of phones, and I've read my fair share of reviews on this particular little phone, but with the track record I've had with flip-style cell phones, I bought my Palm Treo 700w in a fit of frustration and I must say, this has been a excellent choice.  I'm well aware of newer more advanced models, however considering everything new and current I've owned has fried on me, and cost me literaly $100s of dollars out of pocket in gas and handset exchange fees, a older phone like the Palm Treo 700w for  $119 with all accessories on eBay  used,  vs. facing another handset... read full review »

I traded in my cell phone for this one as soon as I was able.  I need something that keeps me connected in every possible way.  I've had my Treo for over a year now and while it's not the bright, shiny object it once was, it's still going strong and I can't believe how long it's held my interest.  I'll admit that having to reset/reboot the device regularly is annoying, but it's worth the annoyance just to have the convenience that it offers.  I get my e-mail (reliably), have my mp3 player, can port my files/documents, and use removable memory...all on a Windows platform.  I definitely appreciate... read full review »

This phone has great features.. the features that are great in the calendar and contacts section on the phone. The calendar is great for people that need reminders of activities on a daily basis. The contact have great information such as personal information or account information. The only problem I have with the phone is if you have any event but don't have a time you have to use "All Day Event". Also, if you have a phone that is made of alpha they don't have the letters on the buttons such as ABC=1, DEF=2 etc... The phone is good for people that like to sync with their desktop. I currently... read full review »

Although, I have no choice in what kind of phone I get or the service plan since work pays for it, I have enjoyed our service, and really like this phone.  We have to track data at outreach sites, and the phone has the software to do it.  My co workers and I have to stay in steady contact with each other, usually through text  or voicemails, and the qwerty keyboard is great for that.  The touch screen works well, and it is durable as I have dropped it quite a few times.  The calender function is essential to my daily work schedule, and being able to beam, bluetooth, or hotsync my information... read full review »

I recently switched from carrying both a cell phone and a pda to combining them all in the Palm Treo 700W.  I couldn't be more satisfied.  I have Verizon for a carrier and their high speed internet service combined with the Windows based capabilities of this phone are perfect for me!  Only one problem I would even remotley be concerned with is on average about one to two times per week I have to use the reset button under the battery cover because it will freeze up.  No information is lost in the process so it is a minimal concern!  Overall GREAT PHONE!!!

I got this phone via work so I'm not paying for it...and I still requested to get a replacement!  Either I can't hear who is on the other line or they can't hear me about 50% of the time, causing me/them to redial.  My signal is weak, even when standing next to someone with a 'regular' cell phone.  The battery life isn't very good and after a day of 'heavy' use (1-2 hours at the max) it may run out of juice before I get home (5-6 pjm).  This phone looks good, but has issues...if you can get something else I'd say 'pass' on the Palm Treo-W.

I love this phone!  It is easy to use, great display, great resolution for pictures!  Easy to learn.  I access the internet easily.  It takes great pictures and it is easy to send them.  I have service with Sprint and they have been great to answer any questions I had when it was new.  I did buy an extended battery for better battery life.  It allows me to check work email and automatically downloads my personal email for me.  I use it to check sports scores when I am not home to watch a game.

It is nice when I'm out of the office it is great to keep up with emails and appointments.  However with the keyboard exposed, I find my cheek hit a button and I am three way calling someone.  You will also need to keyguard your phone otherwise you make phone calls that you didn't intend to call.  It occassionally freezes and you have to take the battery out to reset.  All in all, I am satisfied with the phone.  With its key board it easy to text and send emails.

While some may consider the Treo bulky, it is definitely samller than a cell phone + a PDA.  And it replaces both of them!  I love the fact that I only need to have contact information in one place, and the fact that I can hot-sync all the data to my computer.  I therefore have a backup and another place to enter data.  Overall, I can't imagine being without this phone/PDA/internet access/email access/camera!

I have always been a Palm owner, and when I was able to have my PDA and cell phone in one I rushed out and bought a Treo 650 OS.  I did have just a few problems with the 650, but was much happier with the 650 than the 700W.  Please consider the differences between the two operating systems, especially if you are use to the OS operating system verse the windows system.

I can not believe how I ever lived without my Palm Treo 700W cell phone organizer.  I keep track of all my scheduled appointments.  I can send messages back and forth to friends and family.  I can take pictures and upload to my website.  I can check my email throughout the day.  I can surf the Internet.  Oh and I can make phone calls.
