Great for Underwater

3

This camera is great for underwater shots. It is waterproof to 33 feet I believe. I take it snorkeling with me and I take it in the water while swimming on the beach. I also use it in the backyard to take some cool shots of friends in the pool. If you are looking for an inexpensive underwater camera to play around with, this is great. Do not expect great quality "land" pictures. I do like that it is so durable though. Ive dropped it numerous times, its fine. Image Quality Only the underwater pictures come out great. Any pictures I try to take outside the water do not come out good. This camera my husband and I use when we do not want to take the "good" camera somewhere because of the weather, underwater or whatever reason but the picture quality is not that great. Performance It performs great underwater. Ease of Use It is very easy to use. Even underwater. Durability I have dropped it, taken it climbing on glaciers, in deserts, underwater. It is extremely durable. Battery Life Like all electronics, the battery life was good at first, then it started to go dead very quickly. I have since replaced the battery a few times. Olympus batteries are expensive but worth it because all of the generic ones I have bought do not last. Portability It is small and easy to carry. I bought a case for it that I can wear on my neck or shoulder.

Great Under water Photos In a small camera

I haveowned several underwater camera's. This is the best yet. I have made 16 x 20 enlargements that are bright sharp and clear. OK down to 33 feet. In low light conditions the flash is not powerful enough, but that is to be expected in a pocket camera. Also good for skiing and other conditions that might expose it to the forces of nature.

Underwater Capable & HD Video!

4

We bought this camera to replace our Tough-8000. While we were out of town the screen died and there was no time to get it repaired. When I spotted the Tough 8010 I was excited to see that it had HD video. I am just as happy with the functionality of this camera as I was with the Tough 8000. The underwater feature is fun for the pool with the kids. I haven't used it at the beach yet, but hope to soon. I LOVE the video quality. Detail. Detail. Detail. It is so crisp and clear. The camera takes 14 MP pictures that are crisp. Overall a great point and shoot camera. Something to note: We called Olypmus Customer Service and because our original Tough 8000 was less than a year old they fixed it under warranty no problem.

Best Camera Out There

I have had this camera for a year and I love it. It takes great pictures on the automatic setting, but what I really love is that you can customize the settings for any environment so that your pictures turn out really great. The fireworks setting is amazing and I have never seen a camera capture fireworks so brilliantly before. I'm a mom so I love being able to throw it in my diaper bag among toys and not have to worry about it getting scratched or damaged. I also love not having to worry about it getting wet. This is more than just being able to take the camera underwater. I love being able to take it out in snow or rain without having to worry. I can get pictures of everything, no matter what we do, because the camera can come with us wherever we go. I would definitely recommend this camera.

Best worry-free camera

I bought this Olympus camera to replace a three year old Olympus camera that broke and was still under warranty. So clearly I'm already a little bit biased towards Olympus cameras. The main reason to buy this camera is if you want to be able to take it everywhere with you and not have to worry about not doing something so your camera breaks. So with that, mission accomplished. Great image quality, sometimes I even find myself using my Olympus over my DSLR camera. Battery life is great, its not a standard battery type (ie, AA/AAA), so you might find yourself without a camera if your battery runs out in the field, but you can always buy an extra battery. Buttons are pretty easy to understand even if you don't know much about technology. If you do, there are lots of different features that you can play around with. As with previous models, the performance isn't so great in low lighting, ie, dinners, night activities, and if you don't know to change the ISO, then your pictures are going to be pretty blurry minus a flash. This camera seems to have a much slower startup time than previous models had. I love this camera, and would not hesitate to buy another one.
