I love my Olympus camera.  I needed a little point and shoot and this one is great.  The pictures are high quality and always turn out nice.  The response time of the camera is fast and I feel like I'm not missing out on anything.  I like the features that allow you to take pictures in low light, night time, sporting events, up close, portraits and a bunch more.  The video feature is nice, although I wish you could zoom while you're recording.  My biggest dissapointment with this camera is the memory card.  The card itself functions just like any other card.  My computer has a built in card reader that fits it so I'm good there.  The problem is that the camera doesn't come with one which means that you have to go out (or online) and find one.  They aren't the easiest to find, but not impossible.  So I choose one that is a good brand and that has a good amount of memory.  It works great and I am happy.  Then I go to the Grand Canyon and am very excited to take wide angle "panoramic" style photos.  I'm searching all over in the menus of the camera and I can't select the option.  It turns out that this camera needs an Olympus brand XD card in order to access that feature.  Apparently, there is software installed on the Olympus brand card that is necessary to allow certain camera features to work.  I was VERY dissapointed.  If they aren't going to supply a card with the camera, then they should load the necessary software onto the camera itself.  Now I have to buy another XD card the is the Olympus brand.

Battery Life
I've noticed that the batter doesn't keep a charge as long as it used to. It's not horrible, just not as long as I expect.

We had the Olympus 600 Digital Camera but my husband lost it, so we needed a new one. I liked the Olympus brand, and I like the compact nature of the camera (although it's probably why the last one was lost). We went with the 1000 (it's amazing how quickly the new version came out - we had the 600 for only about a year before we needed a new one...).

We have 2 little kids - 1 and nearly 3 - so they're always doing cute things that we want to capture for their memory books. I really like the camera, but to be honest, it takes awhile for it to "refresh" after it takes a pictures (which means, if they're running, hitting a ball or trying to walk for the first time, it's highly likely you're going to miss the "money shot").

So while I really like the compact nature of the camera - and you get a lot of features for the price - I think I'm going to upgrade to a better, faster camera in the future, especially once the kids start getting involved in sports. Of course that will mean a lot more money invested in a camera, but I'd hate to miss the great shots.

Pros:- Lots of features for the money- Easy to use- Point and shoot, or, if you're feeling technically saavy, you can get into some of the more complicated settings

Cons:- It takes a "long" time in between pictures. Sure, it's mere seconds, but if you have kids, you know a lot can happen in those few seconds.

Great picture quality

By

from USA

Comments about Olympus - Stylus 1000 Digital Camera:

This digital camera takes very high quality pictures without the bulkiness of one of those big professional cameras. The pictures are not grainy at all when uploaded to a computer. I thought this wouldn't be possible without having those expensive cameras. The flash is very strong and is able to take pictures in a dark room or at night. This camera is very durable, I had experience when I brought it to a water park in my bag that got wet, and it still worked! The size of this camera is very convenient and you can bring it anywhere, it even fits in your pocket. The battery lasts me for a full day of picture taking and I don't have to change the battery throughout a day of full use. It is fairly simple to use, regulating the flash is just a button away. The simplicity of it allows for strangers to take a picture of my family without having to ask how to use it. I am satisfied with the performance of this camera and the quality of it too.

Compact, convenient and quality photographic results.

Comments about Olympus - Stylus 1000 Digital Camera:

I have owned an Olympus digital camera for several years and love the results I get. I post items on the major auction site and the pictures must be clear and show the bidder exactly what it is they are bidding on. Olympus provides this and does it easily, with high ease of use qualities.

Great camera, I am very pleased.

Image Quality
The image quality is superb. Photos look clear and the zoom option works great.

Performance
It performs great.

Ease of Use
Very user friendly

Durability
So far it seems very durable!

Battery Life
The battery life is the only con I can find. It doesn't last as long as other cameras I have had before.

Portability
A little larger than some of the thinner cameras, but it fits just fine in a camera case.

Great Camera - better with an Olympus XD card

PICTURE PURFECT

By

from Lake Peekskill, NY

Comments about Olympus - Stylus 1000 Digital Camera:

I'm very impressed with my camera and have been enjoying it for over 3 years and I love it to death.  It amazes me how I still find new things to do with it.  It's small and reliable.  You can make albums right in the camera.  It's very easy to get the pictures from the camera to the computer as well.

This product is fun and easy to use.

Comments about Olympus - Stylus 1000 Digital Camera:

This is a very fun camara to use.  I still haven't gotten the hang of all it will do, but that's because I haven't taken the time to do that.  I like the soft ware that came with it and I can store my pictures and buy products with it.  I can email other people my pictures.

The Olympus stylus 1010 has all that I want in a camera!

By

from Ramona, CA

Comments about Olympus - Stylus 1000 Digital Camera:

I wanted a camera with more megapixels than my 7.1 camera and more than 3x zoom.  While most cameras had a good review for 10 mp or better,  the Olympus stylus 1010 had so many positive reviews!  Apart from the 10mp, it has  a 7x zoom!  The picture quality is awesome!  Easy to use and battery lasts a very long time.  What really sold me was the fact that it takes panoramic views with the click of a button!   My old SLR was Olympus and it appears, the company hasn't let me down! AS for price, it's about average.  It wasn't pricey but it wasn't cheap. I don't know about the tax in other states, but in mine, it's nearly 9%  and that hikes up the price pretty quickly. So if you can find a camera online with free shipping, you'll probably save money on tax. The manual is OK as manuals go. I prefer OJT (on the job training)!  I'm sure I will have many happy years playing with this camera.

The only downside was that I had to "hunt" for the xd memory card that is required for the Panoramic views. Many stores didn't carry it. Can't figure why a store sells the camera but not the memory card! LOL!  This xd also speeds things up.  It's the M+ xd card.

Easy to use - but if you have kids, you'll miss some photos...

The best camera we have ever had!

By

from Canton, OH

Comments about Olympus - Stylus 1000 Digital Camera:

If you are looking for a good camera without spending a fortune, here is your camera. It has all the features you need. A great zoom is absolutely necessary for any camera, and this one has a superb one. It has all the toys you need. Tons of different settings for sports, landscape, portraits, night scenes, you name it. Lighting options, shutter speed, auto-stabilization are just some of the other useful features.

One nice thing about this camera is it has a guide feature to help you find the correct features and settings for what you are taking a picture of. You select different options in the menus, and it will pick the optimal settings for your needs.

It takes great pictures. We have even made posters with the pictures from this camera. The battery is definately one of the best features. It is a lithium battery which is rechargeable. It lasts much longer than double A batteries, even the rechargeable ones of those.

Good camra for the price

By

from Fayetteville, TN

Comments about Olympus - Stylus 1000 Digital Camera:

I was not excited about owning this camra when I first brought it home, but it has grown on me. I had a compleatly awesome compact camera that I loved so much!, but some one *Ahem dad Ahem* lost it and refused to pay more for the exzact model he had lost and so i was forced to settle for this "cheeper" camra..and i guess with my pouting aside, It is a decent camra that I am over all happy with. I do love the large LCD. and the power up  speed is good too. We have three kids and they are allways doing something photo worthy I cant think of how many many shots that would have been missed if I had have using a camra that just wouldnt turn on fast enuff. I reely love the batery life,of this camras rechargable batery..I am soo thankfull that they make rechargable bateries because other wise I am affraid I would go broke just trying to keep my camra alive  it seems to stay charged for  a few weeks with a basic charge.
