I bought my Nintendo DS Lite a couple of years ago prior to my deployment and now that I am on my second deployment I am very pleased with my purchase. This is a great little machine to carry with you around the world or just across the street. Here in Afghanistan I take my DS with me everywhere I go because I never know when I will have some down time where I need to kill time and the DS is great to kill time.

The one issue that I thought that I was going to run into with the DS was a lack of games geared towards adults. This has actually been less of an issue than I would have thought partly because I am a kid at heart and partly because there are plenty of adult orriented games that have been produced for the NDS.

I have noticed that he stylus is a bit easy to lose but generally you get a stylus or two with just about any accessory that you buy for the DS and so it is easy to have several extras laying around.  The NDS is also a little bit difficult hold some times but I found that the Nerf protective case for the DS is perfect to make it easier to hold.  The Nerf case also is excellent for protecting the DS in case of dropping it.

I actually carry my NDS with me just about everywhere I go.  When my fiance goes clothes shopping I take my DS with me and find the "man couch" and sit there quietly playing while she is looking around the store.  In a couple of different stores I am well known as the DS guy and will critique some of the store's counches/chairs.  It makes it so that while she is shopping I don't have to just stand there and look bored out of my mind.

If you are an adult that is thinking about getting the NDS I would definitely suggest it.  If you would like suggestions for some different games for adults then I would suggest looking up the "DS Games for Adults" forum on Amazon as there are lots of great adults there that talk back and forth about different games.

I have actually had two Nerf cases for my DS within the last couple of years. It works great and I have dropped my DS a couple of times and it has always worked perfectly afterwards. The one issue with the Nerf case is that it kind of falls apart, which I guess wasn't really that big of a surprise to me. I remember having Nerf toys back when I was young and they would hold together pretty well for a while and then all of the sudden it would start losing chunks of foam. The case is pretty much the same and I usually go through one a deployment. Mine probably wear out a little quicker than normal because it gets thrown in my pocket and stuff like that so it gets a little more wear and tear than what could be considered "normal".

I also like the fact that the Nerf case makes it easier to hold the DS. I find that the DS is just a bit thin and so when I am holding it and if my hands start to sweat just a little that the DS starts to become difficult to hold. With the case on it actually gives you something to grip on to and so it's easier to keep a good hold on it.

All in all I have been very happy with the protection that it offers for my DS and I don't really know if I would be able to find something better. I wish that there would be something that could protect the buttons on the top of the DS (my left shoulder button is going out) but I don't think there is any way to make it so that those would be covered as well so it works very well for what I need it for.

Hope that helps.

my 6 year old loves his DS and I play it too! Is the Nerf protector good? i've been wanting to try them out.
