Better than washing dishes by hand

By

Comments about Maytag Built-in Dishwasher:

This is the dishwasher that came with the house when we bought it, and since it's still in working condition, we don't plan on replacing it. So far, it's been doing the job. Maybe it's not always the best job, but it's certainly better than the 20 year old model that was in the townhouse we lived in before we moved. Compared to that incredibly noisy machine, this one is fairly quiet and cleans better. I think it helps that there's a water softener on our water supply - we have very hard water where we live. But I do notice the occasional cloudy residue, especially on glasses, whenever my husband adds more salt to the softener. It's not the dishwaher's fault, but it is annoying.

The diswasher gets the job done and it's far better than washing things by hand. There's plenty of room for dishes, serving pieces, glasses, etc. I can wash large mixing bowls and small tupperware cups. I never use the heated dry function, so occasionally glasses and such will have some water on them when the cycle is finished, and tupperware is NEVER dry, but it's not a big deal to let it air dry on the counter.

I like the push button controls - the dishwasher itself is super easy to use and has a decent functionality to go from rinse only to a tough scrub heavy wash. The racks themselves are fairly sturdy, but the plastic connector parts that hold moveable racks in place are not and end up being more of a hassle than a help. Also, the racks rusted in some spots underneath, leaving rust spots on my dishes. A little handwashing took the rust off the plates, and I was able to get some dishwasher paint in grey to cover over the rust spots. (Yes, there is touchup paint specially fomulated for dishwasher racks. You can't just use any old paint). It doesn't look brand new, but it covers the rust and keeps it off my plates.

I don't know if I'd buy a Maytag dishwasher again, but this one certainly gets the job done.

Deep loader

Comments about Maytag Built-in Dishwasher:

We built our home and this is one item that came with the home that we were very pleased with! It is a great dishwasher because we can put large items in the bottom rack and they can get cleaned very well. I HATE to do dishes and I seem to do them a lot and I will try to avoid doing hand dishes at all costs so being able to put in a large platter is a massive bonus! I like how the top rack has different levels so I can stagger the size of items both on top and on bottom. I also like that I can choose to have different timed delays so once it is loaded and ready to go I can walk away and not listen to it and it can wash while we are all sleeping, which is fantastic. The black is a little difficult to keep clean, but who are we kidding, what surface is not difficult to keep clean?!
