My two boys LOVE Chuggington!

4

My boys received this gift for christmas.  We had purchased a CARS track, similar to this last year for them.  They love it.  It is a little flimsy, but I'm starting to realize... what toys aren't nowadays!!  It is not cheaper in quality than any of the other toys we had purchased for Christmas.  It takes a ton of "D" batteries to operate, and you have to make sure that your children shut the motor off when they are done, or you will be replacing them constantly.   The two wheels do spin quite fast, so if you have really little kids it would be best to supervise them using this toys, since fingers and hair could get caught in it, But we have never had a problem,  they will stop easily pressure is applied.   The boys love to watch the trains shoot out  and be able to make the loop on their own.  You can even connect two trains together and it will still work.  I have found that the trains that come with this set are really nice quality.  All metal, and they seem sturdy.  I just wish they would place the names of the trains on the bottom of them, like the thomas ones do, since my boys are always asking me the different names and I have no idea!!

Chuggington loop set is fun but needs supervision

My boys have loved Chuggington for a while and we were excited to see the toys available in stores. This is a really neat toy. The trains and set look very cute. The loop set really does blast the train off once it comes off the track. My boys have even started setting up blocks at the end to have it blast through. I am a bit nervous about how fast the belts move and I don't let them play with it unless I am in the room. It seems like it would be really easy for a little finger to get stuck in the belt. Also, if you have a small child they need to back away from the track where it blasts off because it really does come out fast. It is pretty noisy but not too bad. It is not a toy to use if someone is on the phone or sleeping but the noise is not super loud. It does need to be on a flat surface and will not work on carpet. We put a piece of cardboard under the sensor so it would work. Then it did fine.

Fun, but flimsy -- best for the slightly older preschooler.

We recently bought this for my 2 year old son who loves the Chuggington TV show.  The set included Wilson, the red engine.  Assembly of this product was fairly simple; each joint was labelled, so I was happy that it could be put back together without instructions if necessary -- and it quickly became necessary!  The track itself is very easily knocked over and/or taken apart, and it requires an adult or older child to reassemble.  The train starts at the top of the toy and hooks to a starting point.  The child then pushes a button to release the train, and it quickly travels downhill, through the motorized wheels, and around a loop.  The motorized part must be placed on a hard surface, not carpet, in order to function.  Would I buy this again?  Probably, but not for such a young preschooler.  The engines, however, are great for a young preschooler.
