I call it my low budget blackberry

In deciding to drop our cell phone plan and go to something prepaid we researched the phones available for the plan we desired.  The Loft was the cheapest of those options but not our first choice. When they came on sale on Black Friday for less than half price we decided to bite the bullet and try them.  I am glad we did.  I am impressed with the web capabilities of this phone.  I like how easy it is to text (the buttons are tiny but so are my fingers, my husband also has small hands for a man so its easy for him to use too).  The sound quality is great as well.  It would be neat if there were some apps for this phone but in all honesty, you get what you pay for and this isn't a smart phone.  I think it is a great alternative though!  I'm used to a tiny flip phone so getting accustomed to the size of this one has been a challenge but I find I don't lose it as often either so that's a bonus!  In all, I'd say this is a great phone for the casual to moderate user looking for something budget friendly.

I hae owned my Kyocera Loft cell phone ( Virgin Mobile markets it ) for about 2.5 months. Having an all-inclusive text & web plan, I am a heavy user. This cell phone was easy to learn to use right out of the box. Initally I was 'shocked" at how small the keys were & thought no way would I be able to text with ANY degree fo efficiency. How wrong I was!  I text often & was pretty rapid after the first week or so. Its a learning curve, especially with larger fingers !  I like the sleek styling & the slimness. it stil fits easily into my favorite pocket...which all chicks know is our bra.  It takes surprisingly good pictures and has FUN easy to add photo effects/frames. Want your kid to look like he's wearign silly glasses? Check! Want a romantic frame for your honey? Check! All in all, this is a fun phone, easy to use, easy to navigate and is a good deal for the price, which I have noticed is starting to dropppp. Center button hs a slight "squeak" to it when you use it, only noticeable in a very quiet room or movie theater, lol.

Okay first time "smart" phone but barely a step up.

Got this phone as my husband's secondary line because of the monthly pricing with Virgin mobile.  He doesn't text that much, but wanted something a step up from his flip phone in trying to take less than 5 minutes to configure a text sentence.  (He's against abbreviating or chopping words up to save keystrokes.)  Anyway, for a man, the buttons were hard for him to use b/c of his fingernails not having much length to them.  I found myself using the edge of my fingernail to push the buttons down b/c they were very stiff.  Not to mention the keys are tiny compared to phones of equal size.  Needless to say, we exchanged it for the relatively same price point, LG Rumor 2 that is a slider phone with much bigger keys.  He is a happy camper now and therefore, so am I.  :)

I got Kyocera Loft to replace my 4 year old Samsung that I was very fond of (sigh). Anyway, I was sick of playing phone bill roulette with the contracted service, so I went 'rouge'; that's right, prepaid.  This phone is available on the Virgin Mobile network which includes unlimited web and data, oh yeah! My first reaction to the Loft was: sleek, compact, well laid out. The screen is a reasonable size. The keyboard is small, but after the first week of use, came to love the layout; you can text with one hand.  This phone works well as a basic phone. Kyocera has managed to pack some great tools in this tiny package including: voice memo, calendar, alarm clock, tip calculator, tip calculator, world clock, timer, stopwatch, and memo pad. I use the calendar every day to keep me on task and the voice memo features for reminders and to record basic ideas..  App selections is basic and functional. My favorite is Google Maps, it gives me direction and a map view so I can see the area. The instructions that come with the phone are clear, easy to follow. The camera feature is very easy; hold the button on the left side, view, snap -- that's it. Overall, the phone is a solid performer.  The speaker phone quality is lacking (echoes and 'tinny' sounding). The camera is only very basic, most phone use higher pixels and flash, but it works well.  The keyboard is small for my large hands, but is fine after getting use to the layout.  Overall, Kyocera has done a decent job with the Loft to offer a practical, functional cell phone that has solid basic features. It is perfect for those looking for a solid performing cell phone that is good for texting and fits in your shirt pocket or purse.
