My mother-in-law told us that we NEEDED to get a swing to help our daughter (her first grandchild) get to sleep. She bought us the Graco Baby Einstein Discover and Play swing which was a great help in all of us getting more sleep. We liked the choices of music you could set the swing to play; the music soothed the baby, but was also not annoying to us when we slept in the same room. I also liked that the seat was adjustable in that you could have the baby sitting upright for feedings or playing with toys, but she could also recline for naps. The tray with animal toys that comes with the swing did not get used that much, but was easily removed for other toys or for finger foods. This seat does only go forward and back, but that didn't seem to make any difference. Possibly the only thing we weren't crazy about was how many batteries we were going thru, but that was easily fixed by buying rechargeable batteries.
