Disappointed that my GE Dryer did not last.
I bought the GE DBSR463EGWW Electric Dryer about 5 years ago. It was well priced at the time and seemed to have all the functions that I needed. I was very pleased with how quiet this unit functioned. I was also very happy with the Cu Ft. available to use. The unit is supposed to have a sensor to monitor the dryness of the clothing and to reduce the drying time if the clothes are drying faster. This feature never worked on my unit but it was not something I felt I had to have. So I continued the use of my dryer with no complaints. The unit was also very easy to maintain and keep clean. It had an easily accessible lint screen that allowed me to clean down in the front of the dryer preventing lint buildup. Up until recently I was very satisfied with my GE dryer and would have recommended it to anyone looking for a budget friendly dryer. I respected the GE brand and expected to have the dryer for a very long time. Then one afternoon while doing laundry a spark came from the back of the dryer. My husband went to the fuse box and flipped the fuse back on. He came and turned on the dryer again to see if he could identify the problem. When his shoe hit the cord the dryer sparked again. He removed the back access panel to find that the wires had burned in two and had been burning for some time. The whole back panel was burned. I was very upset that I expected and trusted that this product would last. Unfortunately I am out of warranty and 5 years later out of a dryer.
