Simple, no frills, and no complaints.

5

I've been using this machine for years and really have no complaints. It's just how I like my dryers, simple, hot, minimal options, but tough and durable. I personally don't understand the need for a dryer with many settings and low heat. I want my dryer to "run hot" (I've noticed a few complaints on here about that). If something is so delicate that I don't want it in a hot dryer, I just hang it up to dry. Load Capacity This machine dries extra large loads, without taking up a large amount of space. I've had this machine in a tiny little urban house with no laundry room whatsoever. It was in my kitchen and doubled as counter space at times in fact! It's a great choice when you have a small living space but still need high capacity laundry machines. Performance I'm sure it's not as efficient as newer machines and it doesn't dry as fast as some others I've used, but it's still very effective at getting the job done. Durability This thing is solid and super sturdy. I have had it through three moves, and dried an immeasurable number of large loads in this machine. I can't believe it still works as well as it does to be honest with you. Design Simple and classic

Do beware, even on "Low Heat" runs a little hot!

As far as dryers go, this one is pretty standard, although I'd be careful with using it to dry things that you wouldn't hesitate to throw in other dryers as this one seems to run hot. Even when set to the "Low Heat" setting using the cycle labeled for delicate items at "Less Dry", it still seems to over do it. The lint vent is located underneath the door jam. Cleaning any lint that may slip beneath the vent screen isn't easy to do, but I've accomplished it sufficiently well (I know this only because we haven't had any troubles, otherwise there's no other way I could verify!) using an extension tool on the vacuum. Other than that, it doesn't do anything fancy. There's four heat levels including Regular, Medium, Air (no-heat) and Low-heat. I don't know what the difference between Regular and Medium might be so I only use those settings with towels and sheets, never on my clothes. Load Capacity Pretty good. Nothing extraordinary, but I'm able to fit a king size comforter of moderate thickness in it and dry it completely using a one and half cycles. Performance Low Heat setting is still hot. Ease of Use It's not hard to use, but it's not that easy if you don't have the manual handy to differentiate what the difference between Medium and Regular temperature might be. Durability Hasn't broken down on us yet. Design Standard at best.

Basic but great

This dryer is pretty basic, but does a lot. It works well to dry all of our clothes and has been very efficient- it doesn't take more than one cycle to get the job done. It holds a lot of clothes, and is pretty quiet for a dryer. The optimum dry setting is great, especially for towels and jeans.

You get what you pay for - this one is cheap

We got this GE Dryer as a set when we moved to our new home.  I have also reviewed the washer, but generally for both, I am not pleased with them because they are cheap.  However, that's what I paid for them, so that's what I got.  The dryer has a timed setting, and a setting for what level of drying you want - very dry, optimal dry, etc.  However, that's all it has.  It doesn't have any setting for a cool dry or just air dry for gentle or delicate fabrics.  The capacity is pretty good for the price, but I'd probably still go bigger when we get new ones.  I used to be a pretty low-maintenance laundry person, but now that I am buying things like slipcovers, and nice bedding, plus having more kids in the house, I find I could use a few more laundry options, especially for gentle cycles and delicate clothes.  I wish I had payed a larger investment in the beginning so that I could getter a better return for my purchase.  Its cheap, but its not a great value overall.  We will definitely upgrade when these are done.

Great dryer for the price

We recently has a sewer back up in our basement and it left us with 4 feet of nast dirty water and a drowned washer and dryer among other things.  Lucky for us, we had a relative who could get us a washer, but we had to break down and buy a new dryer.  I like the GE brand.  When we were looking for something that would have a fluff cycle and a quick dry cycle.  What we were told was a quick dry cycle was the "Optimum Dry" setting, and it works pretty well.  It doesn't take but 45 minutes to dry a full load of towels.  I was impressed.  But then again, I was coming from an older model dryer who has been chugging away for I don't know hoe long.  I really like the different dry cycles, I like the buzzer--it's not too obnoxious.  I wish the lint trap wasn't so hard to clean.  It tends to trap lint TOO well and get stuck in all sorts of nooks and crannies.  But, we didn't pay for a perfect dryer, we paid for a good reliable dryer, and that's what we got.

If you can't stand the heat...

General Electric DVLR223 Gas Dryer. I mentioned That I moved and had to replace a few items when I did my review for the Washer. I bring it up again because I had the need to replace my dryer as well. This Dryer was obtained at an affordable price and provides with an excellent value based on it's performance. I have always complained about Dryer heat not being adequate to completely dry my clothes, satisfactorily or speedily. This has a drying cycle, called "Optimum Dry" which does the job in about 30 minutes (maybe less but I leave it for 30 anyway, just easy to remember). I actually left a bed sham in too long and the synthetic material nearly melted. All in all, this perfect for my needs.

This GE dryer is great and efficient.

When our last dryer almost caught fire, we knew that we had to buy a new one, but because we don't have a huge budget for a dryer, we borrowed one from my sister-in-law, but it started eating holes in our clothing, so we went out to a home improvement store hoping for a scratch and dent deal. Instead, we found this great, affordable dryer. There aren't a lot of options on this dryer, but it does efficiently dry clothes. It is on the lower end of dryers as far as price and options go, but it works great. The lint trap is a little flimsy, but it does catch the lint, so I can't complain about that. The drum is large and the machine runs quietly. I have found that there is no volume control for the buzzer at the end of the cycle. You either have to have the volume all the way up or off completely. I do like to be able to hear when the dyer is finished, but because of my two toddlers, I can't have the volume all the way up. I would recommend this dryer.

Good quality at a low price

4

We bought this dryer a few months ago after our last one died. I researched a little on some different websites to find which dryers were in our price range with good quality and narrowed it down to this one. It has a setting that is similar to an energy setting, I believe it's called Optimum Dry, I use that almost every time and my clothes are completely dry when I take them out, despite the short amount of time that it takes. We are pretty plain when it comes to our clothes, but if you are someone that does wears a lot of different materials you might find that the little selection of drying options isn't going to work as well for you. I have no complaints about this dryer at all, I'm not someone who irons, so I depend on my dryer to get my clothes wrinkle free before I remove them and hang them up. This dryer meets all of my expectations, but I woudln't say that it exceeds my expectations.
