Not the most efficient but gets the job done.

The GE Built-in dishwasher is a basic dish washer. There are no bells and whistles, it's an older model and definitely isn't anything fancy. But it does wash dishes and really does a decent job of it. If it doesn't do a good job washing dishes, it is because the bottom is overloaded and blocking the water from reaching the top rack or other dishes. The silverware section comes out which makes it convenient to unload the silverware. The wheels on the bottom shelf work but often fall off, it's an easy fix but a bit bothersome. The biggest downside to this dishwasher is it's loud and it takes a long time to clean. I try to avoid running it during the day because it's hard to talk over it. There are a few washing cycles on this machine, a heavy, normal or light load washing option, a rinse option and a drying cycle. One dial and you turn it to whichever cycle you want to run. Overall this is a simple machine, with some flaws but it still gets the job done.

Not worth the money

This is a pretty terrible dish washer. We bought it to replace an old one, and at the time I didn't really care much about what we were putting in, I just didn't want to wash dishes by hand anymore. BAD idea. This was one of the cheapest models on the floor, and while it was bare bones, I figured it probably would do it's job OK. It doesn't do half bad with cleaning dishes - sometimes there is nasty stuff collected in the things on the top rack, like in the glasses. It cleans stoneware plates really well, and glass on the bottom rack comes out spotless. It's ridiculously hard to clean. There's no way (at least that I can see) to open up the vent cover on the front. It gets REALLY NASTY. I have to just pour bleach in there and slowly wash out clumps of grossness. OK, so the bottom line is if you are looking at this on the floor and are tempted by it's cheapness, walk away. I really don't think it's worth it.

Poor Quality

This thing does not work very well even after a short period of time. Right now it only cleans the bottom rack and sometimes those have to be run through twice even after a thorough rinse. I would not recommend to anyone that does not like to dishes by hand because that is exactly what you will be doing. Kind of noisy comapred to other models. Cleaning time is okay (if it were actually cleaning). It is super easy to clean the outside. We have been replacing parts quite a bit and they are pretty easy to get to replace - however it doesn't really help. This product is just not what I expected it to be, I HATE washing dishes by hand!! Noise Level Kind of noisy comapred to other models

Summarize this product in one sentence.

This machine does clean dishes evenly no matter where they are in the dishwasher. The problem is it leaves particles on all the dishes. I rinse my dishes always before putting them in there the only thing that could fix this is washing them before putting them in the dishwasher. It is also extremely loud. We have to turn the television very loud to hear it while this is running.

I usuallly have to clean up after this dishwasher

The GE GSD2000J01CC Built-In DIshwahser came with the brand new house I bought.  I do not need the best but I do need something that gets the job done.  This dishwasher barely meets that requirement.  I really just wish it would break down so I have a valid excuse to buy a new dishwasher.  I have to make sure I get most of the food off before placing it in the dishwasher. I have to make sure cups and glasses are on the top rack for them to get properly cleaned.  There is usually debris at the bottom of the dishwasher that I have to clean out after some cycles.  I do have to admit that I do not use the most expensive dishwashing soap (usually generic powder) so this could have a play the dishes not be as cleaned as well as I would like.  I usually find 4 or 5 dishes that I have to clean again after they have gone through the dishwashing cycle.  This is a noisy machine so I usually try to run it when I am leaving the house so I do not have to listen to it.  Now with all that said I live in an average neighborhood and did not really expect the best model have been installed.  This is a lesson learned for future new houses to get an upgrade in the dishwasher or at least check reviews before settling with what has already been installed.

worst dishwasher ever --leaves soap crust and scum on everything

1

This is the worst dishwasher I have ever used, if you can call it a dishwasher. It's more like a dish-scum-coater. When using powder detergent (or tabs), it leaves white soap crust on everything in the top rack. After the cycle ends, I have to run it through a 2nd or 3rd rinse to get the powder off. Still, I was finding soap powder in my cabinets. I switched to liquid, and that created a nice layer of scum over every dish. Now I wash the dishes by hand and just run them in this thing to rinse and sanitize them. Or I use it as a drying rack. What a waste!

loud as an airplane taking off

When we bought our new home, it was a 2 year old construction, and the appliances in it were the originals, or about 2 years old also.  So, assuming that our GE dishwasher is from 2007 and not 1987, we were shocked the first time we ran it to hear how loud it is.  My parents have a new-ish dishwasher made by a different company, and you can barely tell when it's running, even when you're in the kitchen.  Our GE is so loud that we usually don't run it if we're doing anything on the first floor level.  We actually wait to turn it on right before going upstairs to bed.  I can actually hear it from upstairs, too, but only faintly.  It's a major challenge if we have family visiting and someone has to sleep on the couch, because then we either run it while we're all awake and it interferes with conversation, or we wait until we all go to bed, and the poor person on the couch has to endure the sound for an hour.

The cheapest thing available

1

We recently bought our house and were pleased that it came with a dishwasher (GSD2000J01CC). While we're not fans of GE we saw no reason to replace it as long as it worked well. Well, it worked decently (if very noisily) for about two days and then the problems started. It was leaving gritty food particles on all the dishes on the top shelf, and wasn't cleaning the silverware very well. We cleaned the filter, added Jet Dry, and ran the garbage disposal just in case, but no improvement. Next it quit draining. After a new filter and a gallon of vinegar it finally drained and was doing ok for a while again, but it quit again yesterday and we're getting fed up. Right now it's serving as a dish drying rack as I hand wash all our dishes again. I think the builder just put the cheapest machine they could find into the house and short of replacing parts I see no way to get this thing working again. Guess we'll be buying a new one after all.

Cleans dishes!

When all is said and done, you want a dishwasher that will... clean your dishes! And this model certainly does that. This model has only the one rotating arm on the bottom rack, but a unique rising sprayer in the middle takes care of washing glasses and short items on the top rack. We ususally rinse our dishes off before putting them in the dishwasher because we don't always fill it up after one meal. The food disposal that is built-in will handle un-rinsed dishes on the rare occasions when we DON'T rinse them first. I purchased this dishwasher two years ago when I built my house. I chose this dishwasher because of price and also because it had more features that were important to use for the price. First, it is a GE. Second, the ability to wash dishes on both the lower AND upper racks. Third, the sound insulation was not the best, but was good enough that we couldn't hear it running from the living room or bedrooms. The food disposal was a bonus.
