an ok grill, but not my favorite

3

I purchased the Food Netwrok 4-in-1 Griddle during my search for the perfect indoor grill. Although this one worked well, it is not one that I plan on keeping. Yes, it looks nice sitting on the counter, and it is easy to store in a cabinet when I have no immediate plans to use it. It is well built, sturdy and durable. And it is easy to clean because the plates pop out of the unit for cleaning. The price is reasonable as well. So why do I not intend to keep this griddle? It's because it does not give the food I cook in it a proper "grilled" flavor. Hamburgers, for example, when cooked on this griddle taste no different than when I cook them on my kitchen stove top. If I am going to cook on a grill, I want the food to taste as if it has been cooked on a gril. This product simply does not deliver in that area. If this is not an issue for you, then by all means purchase this product, it does work very well. But if you are like me and want the delicious cooked on the grill taste, this is not the product for you.

Consistent quality

I use this griddle almost daily. I mainly use the griddle function. We make sandwiches, quesadillas and pancakes. I like the functionality of this unit better than other indoor grills I've had in the past. I also like that it replaces a number of appliances, so I now have more room in my cabinets. I really like the way that it cooks. The quesadillas turn out much better than they did when we had a Santa Fe Quesadilla Maker. The fillings very rarely spill out and clean up is sooooo much easier. My BIG complaint is that the plastic bottom just DOES NOT hold up. On my first unit, the bottom cracked and chipped away until one of the feet finally fell off. Hard to unit a griddle that isn't even. My mother-in-law then gave me here unit as she didn't use it often. Now the bottom on it is cracking and chipping off. The same thing happened to the units my brother-in-law and stepdad had. If I didn't know other people who had had issues with their units I would say it was probably the problems were due to excessive usage. I'm pretty sure though that is was a manufacturing issue. They are consistent - I'll give them that. So, if you run across one of these at a yard sale remember it cooks well, but I would pay very much for it. Shame on Food Network for such cheap (plastic bottom) manufacturing. Performance Cooks evenly Durability Poor quality plastic on bottom. I've personally had 2 units and both have had the same issue. The 2 units were purchased at different times from 2 different locations. Ease of Cleaning Very easy to clean. The grill/griddle/waffle plates are dish washer safe although I usually just hand wash. Ease of Use Very easy to use. Plates switch out with the press of a button.

Great sandwiches, lousy waffles

3

I have long been a fan of appliances that can do more than one thing. So when the Food Network 4-in-1 Griddle came along, I was excited. It was stainless-colored, a huge bonus, and came with 3 sets of plates: flat grill plates, ribbed grill plates, and waffles plates. The "4-in-1" label comes from the fact that, in addition to the three sets of plates, which allow you to grill with/without ribs, and make waffles, you can open the unit flat and use both sides as an open griddle. Size: 7"h x 10"wx 12"d. The unit was too large to fit in my appliance cabinet because the handles make it wider than the 10" of the unit. There is no lock to held together the uper and lower parts of the unit, so it doesn't stand up in a cabinet very well. The unit has a "floating hinge" which allows you to make a panini from a large sandwich. Accessories: It comes with two drip trays (which can both be used if using the unit as an open grill) and a cleaning tool. Included are a couple of recipe cards. The unit's handle stays cool at all times. The plates are easy to remove and are non-stick and dishwasher-safe.   Buttons/dials: A plus to the unit is that it has two sepearate temperature controls: The unit has a dial in the middle where you select Griddle or Waffle (or Off.) The left button, for using the unit as a grddile, has a temperature dial from 200 to 400 degrees. The right button, which is labeled grill/waffle has selections for warm, low, medium, high. Warranty: There is a two-year limited warranty. Problems:The waffle plates are the problem with this unit. The waffles are so thin, they almost look like pizelles! It was very difficult to make waffles without burning the inside of the little squares which, of course, is the thinnest part of a waffle. After playing with the settings, I was able to stop burning those parts, but the rest of the waffle was a bit too soft. I played around with waffle-making for a couple of hours, then gave up and packed the unit up and returned it. Kohls was gracious about letting me return it after having used it for a couple of weeks. Although I like thin, slighty crispy waffles, I couldn't eat what I made with this unit. I was disappointed that Food Network apparently didn't think the logistics through or test the product adequately. (I have read other reviews and this is a consistent complaint.)   The unit functions quite well as a grill, griddle, or panini maker. I spent a lot of money because I wanted something that would also do waffles. On that score, this unit failed.

Great for grilling, so-so for Paninis

4

I used to have a George Foreman Grill, and when that pooped out we got this. I really wanted something where the plates could come off and go into the dishwasher (although I find myself having to hand clean inbetween the grill lines). It is still great because even if i have to do some hand-cleaning, at least it comes off. I also like how it is more versatile that the Geroge Foreman Grill with the different plates. although I am not wowed by the panini grill. The wholl grill is at a slant, which makes sense for say burgers, cuz then the fat can drip off. But when you are making paninis it sucks that it is at a slant becuase the way the lid closes actually squishes your sandwich filling down the slant and out of your sandwich. I have fussed around with it and have found ways to make it work, but it is sytill annoying. So this is great if you mostly grill or griddle. If you are buying it for mostly making paninis then I reccomend just getting a stand alone panini press.

Diet Grilling Inside

4

We have had similar indoor grills in the past but have always been disappointed - until now. The Food Network Griddle is used mostly for burgers in our house. We will cook up a couple pounds of ground beef into hamburger patties and then have them for lunch during the week. There is no odd taste with this griddle like we found with other brands. You do not get a true "grill" taste altho the char stripes are there for the look. The removeable plates make cleaning easy. We have also made ground pork steaks and panini style sandwiches with success. The clean design of the griddle allows it to look nice sitting on the counter, or it can be tucked away in a cabinet for storage. Only drawback is related to an advantage - the multiple removeable plates. We haven't found an efficient way to store them.

Great value for such a great tool!

I bought this and am absolutely amazed at how many things you can do with it. I didn't even know about the waffle iron feature when I first bought it online. It saved me from having to buy several extra appliances and now I only have to store one. The quality is high end, but the price is so low for what you get for it. Buy it...get rid of all those other gadgets you have and don't use and keep this one out...you'll find a use for it everyday. The clean up is not as bad as some say. Just give it time to cool down and either put the trays into the dishwasher...or just wash them clean in the sink. I have had it since November and it hasn't moved from my countertop yet. It will become a part of your kitchen like a toaster and microwave. It stands up against the rest of the "look a likes" out there on the market. It definitely upholds the Foodnetwork name and brand. You will be completely satisfied. Kohls tends to have the best pricing on this item out there.

Loving our 4 in 1 Griddle!

4

We got this for ourselves for Christmas and absolutely *love* it.  Previously, we'd been using an electric griddle that sat on the counter, but it was a pain to clean as it had to be done by hand.  So. Obnoxious. It would frequently sit on our counter for days before we got around to it and take up loads of space.  This griddle has about the same surface area as our electric griddle did, but you can put the plates in the dishwasher! It's wonderful!  We use it for pancakes, bacon, grilled cheese sandwiches, and it makes a terrific quesadilla maker. It's a little difficult at first to figure out what heat you want to be on, but once you have that dialed in, you're good.  I use this griddle all the time and will not go back to my old griddle anytime soon!

The Food Network 4-in-1 Griddle is all you need in the kitchen!

5

I purchased this Food Network 4-in-1 Griddle only because every store I went to was out of the George Foreman grill I wanted...and boy am I glad! It does SO much more! The removeable plates make cleaning a breeze, and I love that it has flat griddle plates and waffle plates, too! It even makes paninis! We made waffles the first day, and they turned out great! There are different temperature settings, so you can cook as fast or as slow as you need. The sleek design is so attractive sitting on the counter! I'll never go back to the George Foreman!!!

Food Network Griddle is a great grill

4

The Food Network Griddle is a very good grill that is very easy to use.   I really needed a small grill to cook some hot meals without having to cook a lot of food that would go to waist.   I love that is small enough to leave sitting out without taking up a lot of counter space.   It is very easy to clean and the stainless design is very nice looking.   The plates come off making the cleaning simple and very easy.   The grill heats up very quickly and I've never had a problem with the grill undercooking my food.   I have not used the waffle plates as I really dont like waffles, I have heard that they are not the best or easiest plates to use.   But again I have not used them so I really can't comment on that.   Over all I really like the Food Network Griddle and I have not had any problems out of it.   I would recommend The Food Network Griddle to any of my friends or family members!!!!

It's ok, I hoped for more.

The Food Network 4-in-1 Griddle was a huge disappointment. I had wanted one for months after seeing it on a Food Network show and finally got it for Christmas. The heat is inconsistant and it is very difficult to clean. Once the heat reaches where it is supposed to be, the heating element stops and the temperature drops quickly and then takes too long to kick back on. Even making simple pancakes or grilled cheese is really difficult because the heat is unpredicatable. Making meat is even more difficult for the same reason! I like that the plates come off for easier washing, but it is really hard to get the crevaces clean. It takes a long time to get out all the grease from cooking meat. I would really like to just throw the 4-in-1 Griddle in the trash and get something else, but it was a thoughtful gift from my husband and he would be hurt. Next time, I will be doing more research and not listen to advice given by the network making the grill!
