Best one I've ever had.

I have lived in a house with a basement that requires a dehumidifier for over 30 years.  I've used a lot of name brands that did not last very long during this time. I have found that having them repaired is not financially feasible.  Five years ago I purchased an Edison on the recommendation of a relative who worked in a hardware store.  It has worked well with no problems.  It has a control that allows the selection of the degree of dryness desired.  I change this a lot depending on the outdoor temperature and humidity to get the level of moisture in the air that is desirable.  It is easy to empty, and I really appreciate that.  I had one previously that had a water bucket that was hard to remove and reinstall.  In wet weather, it has to be emptied often making this a real problem.  It can easily be fixed to use a hose for draining if there is a sewer set up to allow that.  It is small and attractive.  It looks like a nice piece of furniture and is available in neutral colors that could be used with any décor. It was a brand with which I was not familiar, and I'm so glad that I found it.  I would recommend it to anyone that has a problem requiring the use of such an appliance.

Edison dehumidifiers are the very best.

I think every house needs a basement.  I've had one for over ten years, and I would never buy a house without it.  However, it requires a dehumidifier, or it becomes damp and smells musty.  I usually keep two running; because I am prone to allergies and dampness accompanied with odors is not bearable.  I tried other brands in the beginning before a relative who owned a hardware store recommended Edison.  I took his advise and have never been sorry.  I have used Edison dehumidifiers consistently for the last five years and have had no problems.  My job keeps me away from home for long periods of time, and I just fix the dehumidifiers so they empty into a drain and know they'll function well until I return.  If you do not attach a hose for draining, they do have to be emptied often as they pull a lot of water out of the air.  Many people to whom I've recommended them have told me that they could not believe the amount of moisture they pull from the air. They do make a noise.  It does not bother me in the basement, but you might find it annoying in another part of the house.
