My boyfriend's parents gave him the Craftsman Portable Wet/Dry Vac 4 Gallon 5.0 Peak HP Model 17612 this Christmas.  He had another wet vac in mind as his preference, but in his parents' opinion, the Craftsman Portable Wet/Dry Vac 4 Gallon 5.0 Peak HP Model 17612 was the best, so that's what they purchased for him.  His brother has owned the same wet/dry vac for two years and claims that it is wonderful, so his opinion also influenced the purchase.  Although it was not his first choice, my boyfriend likes the Craftsman Portable Wet/Dry Vac 4 Gallon 5.0 Peak HP Model 17612.  He was replacing his Eureka cannister style vacuum cleaner.  He says it is close to the same size, has more suction power and does not have a bag that needs to be replaced, but rather has a reusable filter.  The hose is one and one quarter inch in diameter and therefore fits the standard attachments that the Eureka vacuum cleaner used.  However, the inlet on the Craftsman Portable Wet/Dry Vac 4 Gallon 5.0 Peak HP Model 17612 is two inches, which means that it may be able to use a larger diameter hose.  A larger diameter hose would not get clogged up as easily, so it would have been nice if the wet/dry vac came with a hose that was two inches in diameter instead of merely one and one quarter inch.  Ultimately, this is a decent wet/dry vac with plenty of suction power, although it is a bit expensive.
