I bought the Craftsman 17.5 HP 42" Lawn Tractor around four years ago and haven't had any major problems with it. I like how easy this mower is to start and that it stays running with no problems. I have almost two acres and can cut the whole yard on one full tank of gas. It doesn't go through alot of oil like some others that I have owned in the past. I always get a smooth, even cut. This is a very dependable durable mower, as I have managed to run over everything that I can imagine and it still runs like brand new. The only complaint that I can think of, is that it will get bogged in taller or damp grass. Another great thing about this mower is how smooth it rides. I can go from flat land to bumpy and it doesn't jar me at all. If this mower were to go out today, I would gladly be purchasing another just like it. I would like to recommend the Craftsman 17.5 HP 42" Lawn Tractor to anyone. Whether you have one acre or ten to mow, this is a perfect riding mower for the job.

Not impressed with this mower, we had 2acres of land we wanted mowed and this lawn mower would not cut it work properly of it was over 4"tall and would always clog. This mower worked perfect for our backyard but not major stuff. On top of that it's speed settings are horrible they have a picture of a rabbit or turtle on settings neither which it mostly runs like a turtle. Someone could literally fast walk along side of you while your on the fast setting. Plus it cuts better on the slower setting faster the setting it misses. Performance Perfect for backyard shorter grass nothning big like a field. Handling Easy to use just like driving a golf cart Durability It's strong and tough built to last.thats about the only thing done right with this machine is that it won't fall apart on you. But you will have to take it in on a regular basis as this one requires a lot of attention and needs repairs often depending on what job it was used for. Whether it be blades snarling or something major.

It's odd to say that I love my riding mower, but I really do. After many years of frustrations with a John Deere tractor I finally gave in and purchased a new Craftsman mower from Sears. I added on the bagger, and purchased the optional cart. Both of which have been excellent additions and saved me tons of work! The bagger is awesome, with a hard plastic two bin system which is easy to empty. The bagger assembly can be removed in a matter of minutes (putting it back on takes about ten minutes) for mulching when desired. To use the cart I just remove the bins from the bagger assembly and attach the cart with a simple pin. It's super easy to use and is great for hauling loads of wood chips around the yard or bags of compost to the garden. As a mower it works very well, cutting evenly and quickly through even taller grass. It mulches beautifully, leaving no clumps behind. It sucks up leaves and leaves not even a single one behind. With the additional feature of headlights for early evening mowing or yard work it is among the best I've ever used. I highly recommend this for anyone with a larger yard. It's a workhorse that just never breaks down.

We have half an acre of lawn so getting a riding mower was a must! I like that this mower is reliable but I didn't have to spend a ton to get a good one that will last a long time. Changing the oil is hard since you have to pour the oil into the same hole that the dipstick is in, so you have to wait for the oil to settle before getting an accurate reading. Several times, I've accidentally overfilled the oil and it spilled making the mower spew smoke for a long time the next time I mowed. I also don't like that the mower only has two deck heights; really short, or really long, there doesn't seem to be a good middle length. I do like that it's very reliable, I've never had any problems with it running other than the oil spilling. It always starts right up. It's also nice that it has a really wide mowing diameter so it doesn't take as long to mow our yard. Overall, it's a good, dependable mower!

This a good riding mower. However it gets bogged down if the grass is very high, it doesn't do at all well on uneven surfaces, you definitly can't get close enough to cut grass next to a tree or bush. Slows down a lot if the grass is even close to damp-not soaking wet but barely damp. The deck does NOT lift up far enough to go over tree roots, small things like that. Thank goodness it does have a way of leaving the motor running when in park. You have to reverse a lot. The blades are difficult to replace because the star shape gets rubbed down quite easily. Great on using gas and oil. After only 2 years I had to replace the battery and all 4 tires so make sure you have a yard that is fairly clear of small rocks, etc. The stuff they send you to fix the tires is messy and hard to use, go buy fix-a-flat, much simpler and faster. I really do like the different speeds you can go, great for when you are around flower beds, sidewalks, stuff like that. Performance Starts up easy, sharpen blades, keep the oil clean and it will last. Handling I have way too many bushes to maneuver around but I can still do it so for 90% of yards this will work. Durability 4th year on a rough yard and doing great

Purchased this mower about 3 years ago and have never had a problem with the unit starting or remaining on.  Complete the entire yard on one tank of gas without running out.  Would highly recommend this mower to all.  Very good product.

W e bought this lawn tractor for my dad who is 86 and has a large lawn to mow. He has some difficulty getting around but loves to mow the lawn and keep his place really nice. The mower is very powerful, has 6 speeds, and cuts the grass blades just beautifully. It is a very good lawn tractor for people that aren't able to move about easily. The seat is very comfortable, the area where you rest your feet is open and easy to slip into, the steering wheel is not overly large or in the way and it starts up like a charm everytime we turn the key.We have had several lawn tractors ourselves over many years and this one is the best one we have ever used. When our current lawn tractor needs to be replaced we will definitely get this Craftsman 17.5 HP lawn tractor, since we absolutely enjoy my dad's so much. He really gets a kick out of getting on the thing and riding around !         At 86, this machine has got to be the most fun he has while getting the outdoor chores done too.
