**About Core Rhythms Dance Exercise Program, Secret to Sexy Abs**
This workout is led by Jaana Kunitz (the redhead). She has toned down her neon red hair to a much more natural color and looks great. She has two women behind her working out. Missing is the big screen with the woman showing the moves in larger than life view. I miss her in a way but I could easily follow this workout without her.
This workout is intended to target the abs, upper, middle, and lower and, as a bonus, it targets the butt too. There is no mat work involved. I can't do traditional sit ups and crunches because I have a neck injury and I pull on my neck and end up with a migraine. This workout is one of the ways I can work my abs without the inevitable migraines and neck pain that traditional abs exercises give me. However, I don't think the moves are quite as effective as mat based ones. Still, I feel then working!
The workout begins with a warm up and then goes into a series of dancey ab crunches and swivels that are not just fun and sexy but easy as well. I really love this workout because it truly focuses on the whole core and does it in a fun, sexy way. Jaana is less bubbly than usual and is in trainer mode even stopping to show how the other dancers are moving and why each move is working the abs.****
**Core Rhythms Dance Exercise Program, Secret to Sexy Abs** is not really intended to be a cardio workout although you may get one anyway. The pace goes from fast to slow and fast again. Jaana is great at showing a move, building up slowly, then going to tempo and then allowing us to relax before moving into the next move. You will do the twist (which is great fun), standing crunches, heel raises, hip swivels, and more. None of the moves are hard but they take a bit of practice to target the abs and allow them to do the work. We tend to let other parts of our bodies pick up the slack when we do ab work because our abs are weak. Jaana reminds us often to focus on the abs and let them do the work.
The music is good and the beats are sexy. I really enjoy this workout although clearly there isn't as much variety than a full body workout. I feel it in my abs while doing it and after!
The cool is slow and sexy and feels good to stretch and relax the muscles that just worked so hard. Is this workout as good as [Hip Hop Abs by Shaun T.] ? I would say probably not. It's a slight step down but still a darn good workout with no crunches (on the mat anyway!).
Jaana Kunitz is a great instructor. She knows her stuff and she knows her audience. I really like working out to videos she leads. Even when both Jaana and partner Julia workout together on other CR workouts, I favor Jaana's style. **Core Rhythms Dance Exercise Program, Secret to Sexy Abs **is great to target the core without doing floor work and have fun at the same time. Added bonus! The butt really shapes up fast when doing this workout.*** 4 stars.***
