We ended up buying this brand because the store ran out of our usual brand- our puppy did well on this brand doing half and half until her normal food was gone. SHe seemed to really enjoy the taste. I wanted a good quality food, without the junk ingredients, soy, wheat, by-products, and corn for a reasonable price, and this fit the bill. It is a little more than what I pay for our normal brand, but still a lot less than some of other natural brands. I like that is is formulated for large breed puppies. It is not hard to find both online or around town. It is also great that it is family owned, smaller company and made right here in the US. The ingredients include Made with real chicken, turkey, duck and salmon and includes wholesome fruits, vegetables and herbs. Not a bunch of garbage ingredients I can't pronounce. The kibble is also a bit larger, so that is great for my big girl. Makes it take a little bit more time when eating. And good for her teeth. Overall, I definitely recommend Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover's Soul Large Breed Puppy Formula Dry Dog Food for all Large breed puppies. You WILL see a difference in your puppy overall on this food.

Our large golden retriever had a lot of problems with a lot of different foods, so I went through so many different types trying to find something that would make him happy and also make his messes easier to clean up from his stomach sensitivity. I got a sample of this from our vets office as he just was trying it out as well, and i was surprised that my dog just jumped up and ate the whole bowl, this was strange for him as he has always been so picky and eats very slowly. I went back to the vet and bought a big bag of it and was so glad that I finally had found a food that not only he enjoyed, but it made his stomach problems pretty much non-existent. This is made with great quality ingredients with real meat in it, not just a bunch of fillers. It only came in one flavor, but it was the flavor my dog loved so I didn't mind. Unfortunately, my vet retired and since that it has been so hard for me to find it and I have to order it online, I wish it were more readily available because it is pretty expensive from the online retailers.

When I first seen this dog food, I have to admit I was quite amused by it. I had several of the Chicken Soup For The Soul Books and wondered if this was inspired by the same company. While I never quite got an answer to that, I was able to check out the dog food itself. It was about - over a year ago. The dry dog food - ( at the time, I was unaware that they had wet dog food) was for the most part very similar in appearance and overall shape as well as consistency of just about every other dog food I had seen on the market - I say that because I clearly remember there being a statement on the bag about it's shape. I do remember that the food actually smelled somewhat different than other brands I had previously used. I can't quite describe the scent but, although it was different, it wasn't bothersome. The dog seemed to take to it somewhat well, better than I had expected. I started to purchase it more and more regularly over time. It had a lot of real and natural ingredients that made me feel good about buying it. Th main ingredients were things that I feed myself and my children so they certainly won my vote. I stopped using the dog food after a salmonella outbreak recall that happened with the dog food. After so many people's dogs got sick, I felt very concerned and decided to pass on using them again. My dog never got sick but I was very concerned after it happened. Quality of Ingredients Mostly natural, brown rice ect. Flavor Selection Limited where I shopped at the time.

The only reason I purchased this for my large breed puppies was that it was recommended by my vet. Unfortunately it was twice the price that I pay for Red Flannel Adult food which is fine to feed for large breed, very fast growing puppies. I have two mastiff puppies with me, and my boyfriend has two mastiff puppies as well. While his puppies ate it freely and dry because it was left out I couldn't do that. I have seven dogs and they have to eat all at one time. I couldn't even get through an entire bag before I switched them to Red Flannel that the other dogs were eating, and they ate like crazy. My boyfriend had his puppies over here one night and I didn't want them to starve and gave them the Red Flannel and they both couldn't get enough. It was more than they either had eaten at one time ever. So not tasty and twice the price just didn't work for me, my boyfriend or our four little puppies who really needed to be eating more since they grow so quick. Quality of Ingredients Ratio in proportion of fat, protein, and carbs were in line for a large breed puppy. Flavor Selection The dogs didn't like this food. They only ate it because they didn't have anything else and were probably starving!

We started using Chicken Soup Puppy food when we brought home our Springer Spaniel puppy. When we started looking at the ingredients of the food we noticed Chicken Soup started with real meat. As our puppy became older we switched over to the Chicken Soup Adult food as we learned our dog had bad hips from bad breeding so we wanted to make sure we had a good food to help the dog. Chicken Soup food contained Glucosamine that helps with the joints in animals. I was amazed from our last dog how much it helps them, we use to give it to her in pill form but was happy to find it in along with the food, just that much easier to give it to them. They appear to love the food and have had no problems with palatability. We liked the food so much that we serve it to out new pup a Papillon that my daughter wanted. We have to healthy dogs that I contribute to the food they are getting. I highly recommend it

For many years my husband and I thought we were feeding our dog, Roxy, the best food we could.  But, after a bout with skin irritation, we decided to try another food to get her coat back up to par.  Lately, she was starting to itch and scratch.  She never did this in the past.  After much debate we did some research and found the recent reviews for this food.   It is just slightly more in price than what we were paying before.  Which is not an issue.  The ingredients are all natural, with no by products.   This is one thing that I was looking for in a food.  As my dog has aged, her system has become more sensitive so we thought a change in food would be good for her.  Boy were we right. It's been about six weeks since she started her new diet.  Her skin is better, her coat is shinier and her energy levels have been increased.  The change in her has been wonderful, and she has stopped her itching. This food is definitely worth the money.

This is hands down the best puppy food out there. It's made from REAL veggies and meat. there aren't any of the normal fillers you usually find. it had the highest protein I've found. I've raised three small breed puppies on this. The Vet couldn't believe how good it is, and even recommends it now. you will pay a little more than "grocery store" food. Worth every penny!

Well to be fair we just got our puppy when we tried this and she struggled for weeks with really loose stool. We blamed it on many things - deworming, new home, etc. We tried this for 3 months. Literally after switching to wellness within 3 days her stool was perfect. Maybe it was just how she reacted to the food, I don't know. She did enjoy it and I appreciate that the pieces were smaller and easier for her to chew and not hard enough that it needed watered down. That being said while she was on this, her stool was loose and her coat coloring was more creame than white colored. Literally we changed food and she changed within days. A friend of mine recommended it to us as my breed has a sensitive stomach and he claimed this food did wonders for his dog so again maybe just my luck with it but I tried this verion of the food as well as the regular adult version and saw no difference in stool between the two versions.

Our family got a puppy from the local animal shelter and needed to find a quality food to feed her.  My husband is an ag teacher and has shown animals and helped students with showing animals for years, so we know the importance of a good, quality food.  However, we can not afford to feed some of the more expensive foods.  I started researching, and the Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover's Soul had good reviews, and the price isn't too bad.  The first ingredients listed are meat, and it does not contain corn and wheat as fillers like most of the lower end foods. Our puppy has done really well on this food.  She really likes it.  I will admit that she likes to eat almost anything, though.  Her coat is shiny and smooth, and she is healthy.  We feed what is recommended, and her weight is great.  There are way too many dogs that are overweight due to overfeeding and being fed something with low quality ingredients.  We have switched her over to the adult formula.  She did not seem to like it as well at first, but she didn't refuse to eat it.   We buy our food at the local feed store.  You can not find it at the large, chain stores.

My pugs always had bad gas and their stool was not what it should be. I tried a bunch of different brands/kinds, in a search to find a dog food that would be best for their tummies AND their taste-buds. I went through a bunch of different ones, and always nothing worked. Then I had a conversation with a fellow pug lover and breeder friend. They recommended Chicken Soup for Dog Lovers... swearing that it would be a food they would love and would be good for their tummies! I was almost at my whit's end, so of course I was going to give it a try. It was not easy to find- I had to get it at my local "feed store" (we live in a semi-rural suburban area, so I was able to get it fairly easily). Both of my pugs loved the food right away. It regulated their stomachs, gave them good looking poo LOL, and did wonders for their bad gas. I would recommend this for every pug lover out there... and any dog lover, too!
