A journey to remember, and the price was right!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I just got back from another enjoyable "Spring break" in California which afforded me a lot of great bonding time with my cousin and her husband and also a chance to see a variety of interesting things including the old mission compound of San Gabriel's, the Huntington House and Gardens in San Marino, some great mountain trails, beautiful scenery, etc.

Last year I flew First Class with United Airlines and I must admit that it was a First Class experience but this year I decided to give Economy Refundable a try, not without a certain amount of apprehension.  It wasn't bad at all though ... plenty of leg room and attention from United's wonderful flight a...

Chase didn't honor terms of promotion; didn't give bonus miles

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

I have a United Mileage Plus Visa signature card with Chase Card Services.  In 2008, they sent offers in the mail for months offering 45,000 bonus miles for signing up for the card. So I did. I was supposed to get 20,000 miles after my first $750 in purchases, another 20,000 miles at the first anniversary, and five thousand if I added an authorized user. I received the card in October 2008 and by October 21st had made the required $750 in purchases . Then I waited. They did finally credit me with the 20,000 miles on Jan 27 2009 and I received a form letter apologizing for "an extended delay in crediting your account for the premium you were to receive after the first use of your account...

When United has a special bonus, it will fly you anywhere FREE

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

It's worth the wait for when United Airlines offer a really large bonus points for signing up with their Visa card which is run by Chase Bank. The last time United Airlines Visa Card had a special promotion, I was given something like 50,000 points and with that I could get a 40,000 points Saver Award to go on an exotic overseas holiday far far away. Well, the problem then is that your partner should also apply so that both of you can holiday in a land far, far away together!

Mileage Plus Visa Card

Overall
Rated 3 out of 5

I have been a member of this program for over 10 years.  I have earned many free upgrades, free tickets and other benefits from the use of this card.  For every $1 you charge, you earn 1 mile.  The reason I gave the card only a 3 is that the miles expire!  There is no warning that they are going to expire, they just expire.

I will say earning and using the miles is easy.  Getting online to check your balance is easy.  Anytime you can get free airline tickets it's a good thing.  Sometimes you have to be flexible when you want to fly in order to use the miles, but it is worth being flexible.  United flies to every major city in the country so your...

Good points accumulation but annual fee is too high

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

This card accumulates GREAT miles. The annual fee is quite high ($175) but in the long run I find it worth it. In the first year, you can accumulate up to 15,000 elite qualifying miles, and in subsequent years up to 5,000. For purchases at united.com, and grocery, home improvement, gas, and dining, you accumulate 2 points per dollar. All other purchases are 1 point per dollar. With more and more restrictions on the "saver award" flights on United, it is harder to get the flights that you want for the lower rate of 25,000 miles for domestic flights, but you can get any flight you want (domestically) for 50,000, which isn't terrible considering the price of flights these days. Also, Visa is ac...

Could be better

Overall
Rated 3 out of 5

The standard $1 for 1 Mileage Plus mile used to be at the head of the credit card reward value leaders' pack.  With the advent of more rewards programs, I find different economies in the credit card rewards world.  If we look at 25,000 miles for a single $500 ticket, we see rewards at 2%. For international economy travel to Asia $1500 = 60,000 miles or 2.5%.  The immediate comparison is the Chase Freedom card which offers a 3% cash back.  Hence, there are better cards on the purely economic basis.

So, does that mean immediate rejection? Not entirely.  Using the reward miles earned to bump up one's premier status level one grade can make a world of difference f...

United Mileage Plus Credit Card - Good for travelers

Overall
Rated 3 out of 5

The United Mileage Plus Credit Card is great if you most frequently fly on United. I have never had a problem redeeming my miles for a trip but I'm always flexible with my dates. The only downside is that they charge a $60 annual fee that they never waive (you can also pay the fee with 7500 miles). I definitely recommend using this card if you are a traveler. If you don't travel very often, I think some of the other cash-back credit cards might be more practical. The United frequent flyer program also has a dining program and an online mall so you can earn extra miles there as well as with your credit card.

the United Mileage Plus Visa Card is a great way to earn miles

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

The United Airlines Mileage Plus Visa Credit Card is a great way to accumulate miles.  the card works like any other visa but when you open it you get 30,000 miles.  this is enough for a free round trip ticket to any where in the continental us.  This is a great value.  It really gives you a good head start is you are trying to save miles up to go someplace that take a large amount of miles.  I have saved enough miles to go all the way to Australia and it is only going to cost a booking fee and taxes.  This is a savings of about $1,000.00.  This one draw back of this progrem is that there are not always mileage seats available so you have to be somewhat flexible with your travel plans.  If you chose a place that united flys to (and not one of their affiliates) it is much easier to get the flight you desire.  the miles accumulate fast if you use your credit card for everything you purchase.

It offers a short cut to Mileage Plus elite status.

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

THe Chase Mileage Plus Platinum Visa comes with a healthy United FF miles bonus. It has no fee the first year and a moderate one subsequently. Double miles are given for United purchases and currently also for purchases in other selected categories. Billing is dependable and accurate, and customer service is excellent. Account access via the website is now smooth, after some earlier glitches. This card would appeal mostly to the hard-core United flyer. In addition to Mileage Plus miles accumulation, the card offers opportunities to accrue additional Elite Qualifying Miles (EQM). In addition to an initial 5K EQM bonus, cardholders earn an extra 5K EQM by charging more than $35K in a calendar year. Also, each dollar charged on United.com results in the credit of one EQM. Thus the United customer who typically falls somewhat short of one of the elite threshholds (25K, 50K, or 100K miles) can use EQMs earned via the card to qualify for the elite status desired.

Service to long standing customer who always paid in full STINKS

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

When card was declined, contacted customer service.  Found that prior month's bill had not been paid (never received it).  We have ALWAYS paid our balance in full each month for 20+ years that we've had this card and usually this card has been used to the exclusion of all others for ALL of our credit purchases including gas, groceries, etc.  They are quick to call us for offers of credit card protection and other marketing plans, or when they suspect fraud for out of state purchases when we travel, as well as decline the card when we make multiple purchases in the same store within minutes, but they couldn't contact us about a missed payment?  Payment was made via electro...

30,000 FREE Miles to sign up!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

Traveling is expensive so why not travel for free?! I searched every credit card that rewarded airline miles and United Mileage Plus was the best of them. Their offer right now gives you 30,000 free miles just to sign up! A domestic flight (US or Canada) is only 25,000 miles, so automatically you get a free flight. The card offers you 1 mile for every dollar you spend, but it really doesn't stop there. The miles you earn can be used for cars, hotels, and much more (not vacation packages though). The card has so many great ways to earn miles, you'll have more than just one free ticket before you know it. The payment processing time is 3 days on this card, the customer service is amazing, and finally the yearly fee is $60, which you can pay using your airlines miles :) The benefits of the card are amazing, I would highly recommend this card.

Not nearly worth the fee. Horribly rude customer service.

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

The united miles card provided by Chase is a complete ripoff. 60 dollars a year... what is the point of having a credit card that provides "rewards" that you have to pay for. Especially now days when there are plenty of credit cars out there that have cash rewards and NO annual fee. My wife has this card and we are going to cancel it tomorrow. She has had this card for 4 years now and just recently made her first late payment. She had tried to get the fee reversed and was told that "we have no option to do that for you". 4 years, never a late payment, 240.00 dollars of accumulated fees... i return she gets horrible customer service. Im sorry but why would anybody applay for this card... it just doesnt make sense... And by horrible customer service, im not talking about the fact that they would not reverse the 1 late fee... these people where just plain rude to my wife.

Amazing initial offer

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

The Chase Mileage Plus Platinum Business Visa just became my sixth Visa from JP Morgan Chase.  It has no annual fee for the first year, and a $75 fee thereafter, but the second year also comes with 6,000 aditional miles.  I earn 2 miles for every dollar spent on United Airlines and 1 mile/dollar spent on everything else.  With my first charge I got a 21,000 mile bonus credit to my United Airlines Mileage Plus Account.  I used to figure the Mileage Plus miles to be worth about $0.02 each based on a ticket to my timeshare in Hawaii being $700 or 35,000 miles.  With higher fuel prices driving ticket prices higher, those same 35,000 miles now save me about $1800 in ...

Chase United card Fee for foreign purchases, high finance charge

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

Was a loyal cardholder for many years - over $40,000 per year in spending on the card. I was late for ONE payment after years - called them on my own when I discovered the error, even wire transferred the payment instantly - they still stuck me with over $200 in finance charges which they would not re-consider. Finally, they agreed to reduce them by half of one of the 2 finance charges. They did not seem to understand that they were losing a loyal and high volume customer, so I canceled the card.

Helps my husband go home to Australia

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

We use this card everyday for every thing possible.  In the past five years we have paid for three tickets from Florida to Australia completely on points!  That is a huge feat for us as those tickets are very expensive.  It is the best mileage card for us.
