Solid Card, but recommend for the intended market

By

from Gainesville,FL

Comments about American Express - Blue Sky Credit Card:

American Express provides some solid offerings depending on your credit score. This card is a solid contender, and I would easily put it in the top tier of airline cards for two distinct reasons. Amex customer service is top notch, and the rewards attached to the card are very competitive. That being said... do not use this card if you are not a frequent flyer. If you simply want a card to use everyday than consider something like the Amex blue card, which provides similar benefits targeted for a more general expenditure list.

Nothing like Amex

By

from Medford, NY

Comments about American Express - Blue Sky Credit Card:

This is a wonderful credit card that does not have an annual fee! American Express cards usually have high annual fees and so I had cancelled my other cards from them. But I kept this one because it has great perks and no annual fee. I use it mostly to shop at Costco because they do not accept other credit cards. I earn points and then use those points to shop at Amazon! Another amazing feature about this card is that if for any reason I purchase something to my dissatisfaction, Amex will cover the costs regardless of whether the vendor accepts the return or not up to $300 annually. Thankfully I have yet to have to use this perk, but it is good to know. It makes me feel safe using my card.

Customer Service
Their customer service representatives are truly amazing. They aim to please and do their best to service their customers.

Available Rates
Their APR's are high and it isn't advisable to carry balances on an Amex card. And never ever be late. This is a card you need to pay in full and on time.

Great Card. Great Rewards

By

from USA

Comments about American Express - Blue Sky Credit Card:

This is a card with great benefits. This card in the past had 5% cash back on groceries, but now that has been scaled back to only 3%. It is still one of the highest cash back cards for grocery store purchases though, which is the main reason I applied for the card. There is also 2% cash back on gasoline as well, which comes in handy when none of my other cards are running a 5% cashback promotion on gas. 1% cashback on everything else is seeming a little outdated though some other cards you can get 1.5% on everything or some give promotions when redeeming reward points for cash. see capital one and US Bank Signature.

Customer Service
American Express customer service is great, and the blue card is no exception. I have always had a relaxing time when calling and my requests (reasonable) have all been accommodated. No complaints at all.

Available Rates
This is a large cashback rewards card so obviously the rates are not that low. Although, I would just use this card for the rewards and pay the statement balance at the end of every month.

This is one of the best cards I've ever had.

By

Comments about American Express - Blue Sky Credit Card:

American Express has an excellent history, great customer service, and an easy rewards system. I use this card for every purchase and then pay it off at the end of the week. When you sign up and after you've spent your first $1000 you receive 7500 points currently. That translates to an easy $100 off your next bill, gift cards, or a bunch of miles! The trick is to do like I do and use it for everything; then pay it off.

Customer Service
I called their phone support with a few questions and I had a minimal hold time and a knowledgeable representative. I had some questions on the point system the other day and I used the online chat feature. It was great! In less than 5 minutes I had all the answers I needed and was very satisfied.

Available Rates
I don't carry a balance so I haven't had to deal with paying interest. However, their rates are on par with Chase, Discover, & Bank of America. They are currently offering 0% APR on balance transfers for 12 months the same as Discover.

Great service, fabulous amenities, point reward system to use towards travel/flights. AMEX is accepted in more places than it was in the past so it is a great credit card to have in your wallet- when shopping, traveling or just filling up your tank!

Good

By

from Warren, OH

Comments about American Express - Blue Sky Credit Card:

This is a really great credit card, because it offers points to earn for each dollar you spend. As well as many different ways to redeem these points. The great part about this card is that the points never ever expire! They are always there as long as your card is in good standing and you pay all your bills on time and dont cancel your card. Also you can get statement credits with your points, gift cards, merchandise and travel gifts. The other great thing about this card is they sometimes offer bonus miles when you spend 500 in a time frame of three months of having the card. This is awesome and this is the promotion I got and you can get 30000 points when making that purchase. Also there is no annual fee for this card which is really great because I can still get the benefits without having any credit card fees. They also have wonderful customer service that is available 24/7 and i love having this option for when I need to talk to someone.

Fly for freed

By

from Bellmore, NY

Comments about American Express - Blue Sky Credit Card:

I was shocked to learn that when I signed up for the card I would automatically receive 10,000 points and in the next three months if I spend a thousand dollars (not hard to do) would get another 5,000 points. Then whenever I use the card I get more points and hoping to take a trip off of peak season and it will probably be free.
The only drawback is a 40 a year fee.

Customer Service
When I called they were helpful and answered my questions in a very professional manner

Available Rates
It costs 40 a year to be a member

Great card

By

from USA

Comments about American Express - Blue Sky Credit Card:

If your a business traveler who flies a particular airline or stays at a specific hotel chain you can probably find a better rewards card. However if ur a professional who is a casual traveler this is great card. I don't like to feel like I need to hire lawyer to figure out all the hidden restrictions that come with other cards. This card makes earning and redeeming points easy and gives back at a 1.33% rate which tops almost all other cards. Because they have no restrictions on redemption u can shop around yourself to find the best deals - which generally has saved me hundres of dollars in being able to do so. Their website is easy to use and u can earn up to 5x points for specific businesses and from what I've seen these promotions are good for a year so not a constant rotation of businesses to keep track of to earn extra points. NO ANNUAL FEE! This is not the card for u if you: 1) looking to transfer a balance due to a high APR. 2) IF u don't pay off ur balance monthly , high APR. 3) You need a card that's accepted everywhere.

Request for improvement

By

from Tampa, FL

Comments about American Express - Blue Sky Credit Card:

PRO:  points never expire

CON: Only a single travel expense can be used for 7500 points or more.

This means if all travel expenses are each less than $100, points and $'s will be wasted when trying to redeem points.  AMEX needs to supply some means to select more the one travel expense to redeem against 7500 points.

AMEX Blue Sky is the best all-around card on the market

By

from Salt Lake City, UT

Comments about American Express - Blue Sky Credit Card:

I have endlessly compared most of the cards out there.  I go out looking to see if I can beat my AMEX Blue Sky card which I have had for almost three years now.  Each time I do my research and stop comaparing, I always return to the Blue Sky with the realization that I can't beat it.  Here are the reasons why:
1.  No annual fee
2.  7,500 points = $100 travel credit (This is equivalent to 1.33% kickback)
3.  No blackout dates, travel restrictions, or weird itinteraries; you choose the flight, hotel and/or car rental of your choice, then once that transaction posts to your account, you can apply the credit in increments of $100
4.  No haggling with "Low", "Medium" or "High" airline miles redemption classifications -- the cheaper the travel accomodations, the more bang for your buck with the redemption
I could go on and on, but these are the main reasons I like this card.  Some of the potential pitfalls could be the somewhat higher interest rate.  I don't carry a balance so this doesn't affect me.  Also, you can only redeem the travel credit in increments of $100.  But again, when you travel, you generally spend over $100, and if you have an in between amount, just cover the difference in cash and save the points for your next $100 credit.
Another potential downfall is that it seems that some merchants are beginning to phase out acceptance of AMEX.  Their 2.5% interchange fee is prohibitive to most small businesses.
Overall though, this is a great card.  I have no qualms giving this a 5 out of 5, especially when compared to with the other programs that are out there.
