One of the best greatest mileage credit card I've ever had!

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

I like this credit card very much, especially the sign-on bonus - 35,000 Delta Skymiles - How amazing it is!!!  After got this credit card and participated in several bonus mileage program, I already have 60,000 miles in my account, which is enough for my planned travel to Asia early next year!!!

The major shortcoming is that AmericanExpress is not accepted by a lot of merchants, especially small restaurants.  This is inconvenient, given the fact that I am very eagar on accumulating airline miles.  I have to keep another mileage card - United Mileage Plus visa credit card offered by Chase, in case where the Gold Delta is not accepted.  Another thing is that American...

Great rewards card to boost the frequent flyer miles

Overall
Rated 3 out of 5

My husband and I use this card because of the rewards it provides.  We like the rewards of getting more miles towards our Delta Skymiles account.  This is a great card for you if you are looking for some free flights.  There is a yearly fee.  For two years straight now, I've called to cancel at the end of the year because I do not want to pay for the $99 yearly fee again.  But when I talk to them, the representative wants to keep me on the card so badly that they offer $50 off, making the yearly fee only $49.  They are always pretty accommodating to keep you with the Skymiles card.  And with the renewal comes a free companion certificate.  So if you fl...

Excellent rewards. One of the few cards worth the annual fee!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

The Delta Skymiles Gold card from American Express has proven to be an excellent rewards card for me. In fact, I recommended that my parents get one and they've been happy with it as well. The card does have a $95 annual fee; HOWEVER, this is one card where the benefits can easily outweigh the annual fee or at least cause it to all come out a wash.

Pros: Cardmembers receive their first checked bag FREE (a savings of ~$50 R.T.) and this benefit is good for up to 9 people if you pay for everyone on one reservation and they are traveling with the primary card holder. Rewards are 1 mile per dollar on everyday purchases and 2 miles per dollar on purchases made directly from Delta. Another p...

Grewat card if you can use the companion certificate

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I have been an American Express business card holder for 3 years. I used to be a personal card holder. There is no difference.

The card is expensive. $85 for the gold card, $135 for the platinum. So for accumulting miles solely, it is not worth it. After 3 years, you have paid the price of a return airline ticket in annual fees.

But the best part about the card is the annual companion certificate they give you. If you are gold, it is a $99 companion certificate, if you are platinum, it is a free companion certificate.

I fly a group from the east coast to the west coast every year. We fly delta. The cost of an airline ticket is $400. So those certificates are worth $400 to me. They are very easy to use. You must use the 1-800 number, but hte process is very quick and I have never been rejected on the itinery I have requested.

The certificatesd are only good in the US, and you must use a Delta Skymiles American Express card to pay for the tickets.

I am using American Express card since last one year, i was usning another card before this. After using American Express delta skymile card, i realize that this is the best card for anybody who is travelling a lot, perticularly by air. This is also number one card for its reward program. I received 20,000 miles for joining which is more than enough for one free flight. I also use online services and it is awesome. i can see my spending by catogory, by merchant etc... i can analyze the spending of the month. I can also see the status of my miles.. there many reward program which can be used to earn miles.

Awesome rewards

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I signed up for the American Express Delta Skymiles Gold a couple of months ago when there was a signup offer of 25000 miles plus 15000 more if you spent 1,000 dollars in the first month.  This comes out to be 400 dollars off of a plane ticket!

I recommend waiting until you receive a good offer with the most amount of bonus miles awarded for signing up!

I planned on canceling this card after the first year due to the annual $95 fee... but I looked into it more and realized that you receive a free companion ticket each year with the card... which definitely saves money considering tickets are more that $95.

One downside is that AmEx cards aren't accepted everywhere so you should also have a Visa or Mastercard backup.

Wowee! Love AmEx Delta Skymiles card

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

This card was great.  Love that I earn so many miles by just buying things.  The only reason we got rid of it was because my husband and I decided to get out of debt and cut up all the credit cards.  Well, we no longer have credit card debts, but I sure wish I was earning miles when buying things with cash. ;)   I think the only con was that not everyone accepts AmEx cards, but it sure was great to travel with.  Best customer service I have ever received when calling the 800 number with questions about the card.  Associates are so knowledgeable and friendly.  Even when I was canceling the card, they weren't pushy about me keeping my card.  Just respect...

delta amex is ok

Overall
Rated 3 out of 5

It is teh regular Delta Sky miles American Express credit card. There is no annual fee for the first year.  $95 for the next year and there after.  You get 20,000 sky miles with the card.  1 sky miles is then earned on every $ spent on the card.  It is backed by a good bank - American Express.  Comes with lots of features like rental car collission waiver insurance, accident insurance.  Has very good customer service.  However, its acceptance with merchant establishments is less than that of Visa or Master Cards.  It is good for those who wish to coillect Delta Sky Miles.  25,000 sky miles gets you one domestic air ticket.  Some promotions keep on happening all the time.  Upto 2 add-on cards are free.  The credit limit is quite good.  Application and approval is on-line and instantly.  There is also one companion ticket on every renewal every year.  Temporary credit limit raise is possible on special occassions.

A good card to keep overall.

Annual fee is too much.

Overall
Rated 3 out of 5

Card is a great asset to carry for the first year when the annual fee is waived. After that, the fee for usage is only for the wealthy individual, who doesn't worry about their budget. One year and done.

I've already cashed in my first free flight because of using my Delta Skymiles card. From morning coffee to translatlantic travel, I use it for everything - and it pays me back in those ever-important miles.
