Read 1 Review

There's nothing wrong with this workout, I just found it boring.

***Quick View:*** I am a big fan of the VH1 show "Celebrity Fit Club" and I like Harvey Walden IV, the drill sergeant who pushes the celebs to the limit. I thought I would love this workout but I didn't. It's OK but I guess I need more than drills to keep me motivated. ***My Take on Celebrity Fit Club-Boot Camp Workout with Harvey Walden IV*** Harvey leads the whole workout. If you watch the show and know him, you will probably like his style. if you never saw him in action before, you may wonder who he thinks he is acting all tough and bad. But he IS tough. There are some cool features to the workout. There are a few kinds of music to choose from for the background but it's all very generic and you really can't hear it well. Still, you do get a choice. You also can choose a long or a short workout. There are beginners, intermediates, and advanced exercisers there at all times so you can follow whatever level you are at and get a preview of the next one. Basically, you do drills. The exercises are actually fairly easy to do and follow but, for me, boring. I am not a fan of jumping jacks and push ups when I could be doing something fun. Harvey is actually pretty motivating, encouraging exercisers to keep going and to suck it up. He isn't nearly as mean on this DVD as he is on the show which I kind of almost missed. The long workout is 50 minutes and, if you follow it, you WILL sweat and burn calories and you will work all of your muscles. The shorter workout is also good for a fast, all over body workout. Harvey has his own style of warm up and then launches into the workout. Throughout you will walk, march, or jump around depending in your level of fitness. I marched but really, I was just hoping the workout would end. The exercises, as I said, are familiar and old school but effective. This workout is structurally sound and gives you everything you need to firm up and burn calories if you like a boot camp type workout. I guess I just want to dance or kick box or do something that I find entertaining rather than do boot camp drills. The setting is VERY simple and focuses on the workout, not scenery which is fine with me. The music could be louder and better but Harvey talks a lot and counts constantly so the music would be a distraction if it were too loud. In all, it's a solid workout that I gave away to a friend because it just didn't make me want to get up and go! ***My Viewpoint*** There are so many workout DVDs out there that it's really all a matter of what trips your trigger and makes you get off your butt and exercising that matters. What I like may not be what you do and vice a versa. I wasn't overly fond of **Celebrity Fit Club-Boot Camp Workout with Harvey Walden IV** because it was so bare bones and so ... boot campy which is somewhat lame of me considering it is clearly marked as a boot camp workout. You will sweat and burn calories and there is room to grow with this DVD. There's nothing wrong with it. If you just want to do exercises that work the muscles and burn fat, this one will do it. If you want fun, this one isn't it in my opinion. ***3 stars.***
