Better Quality Wet Cat Food

Comments about California Natural Venison & Brown Rice Canned Cat Food:

California Natural Venison & Brown Rice canned cat food is a simple and limited ingredient wet cat food. It contains lean venison meat and brown rice which is used as a healthier carbohydrate and a natural fiber. The food meets the guidelines for nutrition of all cat life stages by the AAFCO. This food is part of my cats' wet food rotation.

Quality of Ingredients
The ingredients in this wet cat food are very good quality. There are no by-products and the first four ingredients are meat based. The first ingredients listed are as follows: venison, salmon broth, whitefish, herring, brown rice, natural flavors, egg. flaxseed, guar gum, and a few other ingredients added for vitamins, minerals and presumably to preserve the food. The full list of ingredients is available on californianaturalpet.com

Flavor Selection
This brand of wet cat food comes in four flavors. The other flavors are Chicken and Brown Rice, (my cats' favorite), Salmon and Sweet Potato, and Deep Water Fish and Brown Rice. My cats will eat any of these flavors.

Calif Naturals venison & brown rice didn't go over with our cats

By

from Denver, CO

Comments about California Natural Venison & Brown Rice Canned Cat Food:

California Naturals venison and brown rice canned cat food is a complete dud as far as our cats are concerned.  Our oldest cat eats the most canned cat food.  He is finicky and has a tendency to be a bit underweight, so we have to be sure he likes his food or he starts getting way too thin.  He barely touched the venison and brown rice every time we tried giving it to him, even when the can had just been opened.  It sounds like a healthy variety.  After all, venison is healthy--or, at least, people like it!  Cats just don't agree with the idea.  We quit buying it entirely after trying it several times as an "occasional" food, only to have the cats reject it.

However, I will say that California Naturals is a good company, and their cat food is high quality.  It is low in carbohydrates, which is important since cats metabolize fat for energy, rather than carbohydrates; since their bodies don't need many carbohydrates, food that contains a lot of carbohydrates just causes them to put on fat, putting them at risk for diabetes.  I would advise buying one can of this variety and seeing what your cats say.
