Burt's Bees Hand Salve Review Summary

Burt’s Bees Hand Salve is a natural hand slave with eucalyptus oil and rosemary. It is not tested on animals and a little goes a long way. Our reviewers recommend using a very small amount as it is very concentrated, and warn that this salve is thick and can be difficult to apply. It is recommended that you cover your hands after applying as the salve can end up on your bedding, clothing, or pajamas, but it works well on dry, chapped hands. Reviewer Tntmom says, “Slather it on overnight and the next morning, it's done wonders and your hands are incredibly soft!” PattyTherre says, “It's natural but it's just too greasy for me.” While most reviewers enjoy the soft hands that are a result of Burt’s Bees Hand Salve, they all agree that it is messy to apply. I always saw people with Burts Bees products and assumed they were just being pretentious. Then I saw them at Target and tried them for myself. The hand salve is great - especially for when the weather gets cold and lotion just doesnt seem to prevent drying.

Quick View: This salve is over the top greasy. It's natural but still, messy. Not my favorite or even close to it. I won't use it.

About Burt's Bees Hand Salve

Burt's Bees is usually at the top of my list for good quality products.  I like the fact that they are made from natural ingredients, and although they are expensive, I will pay the price because they are THAT GOOD.  But.......

I was given a gift of miscellaneous Burt's Bees products.  One of them was the hand salve.  Now, maybe it's because the container is so small (.30 oz), but it was almost impossible to get into!  The top didn't turn loose, it was hard to grip, and I couldn't pull it off.  I eventually had to grab a towel to get some traction on it, and force the top off.

Once I finally...

Burt's Bees products are not tested on animals and are touted to be natural, but,  I find nothing natural about Burt's Bees Hand Salve that leaves you smelling like a Panda Bear's eucalyptus treat.

Available in 3 oz. and 1/3 oz. sizes, this hand salve is a 98% natural.  It's first two ingredients are sweet almond oil and olive oil.  Both of these are natural moisturizers.  Olive oil can smell heavy though so herbs have been added to not only help heal dry skin but to disguise the heavier scent.  This is fine if you are home alone and are just going to slather it on, cover your hands with bed...

I have to admit, I am not a very big fan of Burt's Bees products.  I love that they are natural and not tested on animals, but I usually end up dissatisfied with their products for one reason or another.  Sometimes, it is because I don't like the scent and sometimes it's because I don't like the texture.  In the case of the Hand Salve, it is a combination of the two.

The Burt's Bees Hand Salve has a very strong scent that I do not find enjoyable.  It is very earthy and medicinal smelling.  The texture is light, but oily.  I tried rubbing some of it on my hands, but since it is in a solid...

This is my favorite product ever from Burt's Bees. It smells kind of medicinal but I like it. It's the best stuff for curing dry, gardeners hands quickly. The only drawback is that it is very greasy so just be aware of that. A little really is all you need so don't go overboard with it, besides it's right expensive too. Once again it comes in that miserable tin they insist on putting some of they're products in. The downside is you cannot get that sucker open without a crowbar or some other device. The upside is with the tin you don't waste one little drop of this.

this really works well for me.  i love the rosemary/lavender scent too.  it may seem a bit greasy at first but if you put it on your hands at night before going to bed, when you wake up your hands will be super soft.  i think this works better than the almond beeswax hand creme.  also i like the scent way better.  some people even use this on the dry ends of their hair (rosemary/lavender oils are in it) and say it works well.  i haven't tried this yet.  i love how this sinks in and the 3 oz tin last a VERY long time.  i have bought this again and again and i will continue to do so.  also... review »

For chapped and super dry hands, this stuff works like a charm! Slather it on overnight and the next morning, it's done wonders and your hands are incredibly soft! Because it is so greasy and very very hard to remove (at least immediately after application), I try not to get it on my palms, and put it on right before I fall asleep (you can put on cotton gloves or old socks afterward if you don't want to get it all over your bedding). Slathering it on thick seems like too much, but if your hands are very very dry, it will all be absorbed and make a world of difference. The lid is sometimes a little... review »

This is a great product! If you have to wash your hands alot especially in the winter. Best way to use this is at night. slather it on your hands put gloves on and the next morning you have very soft beautiful hands. The smell of rosemary just adds to it overall greatness. The only draw back to Burt's hand salve is it's a little tricky for day use. You have to find the right amount to put on your hands, too much and it will be greasy. I am a nurse and I use Burt's hand salve.

I absolutely hate this stuff. It has the worst smell of any body/hand lotion I have ever experienced. And the smell sticks! I had to wash my hands 3 times, and I could still get a whiff of it every once in awhile. It is waaaay to thick, and waaaaay greasy. Even if you could get pass the smell, your hands going to just slip off anything you touch for the rest of the day. I am an avid user of Burt's Bee's chapstick, and was very disappointed with this product.

I recieved this product in a trial size set. I don't usually use salves because I don't like how thick they are. This one is definately thick. It is also greasy. The scent is very strong and if you like herbal scents this is for you. It smells like rosemary.

some of the Ingredients; sweet almond oil, beeswax, vitamin E, rosemary, lavendin, and eucalyptus oils.
